My only thought is that many UWW posters are now posting things that they found objectionable 10 years ago. I'm getting old, but I do remember how quickly they took (and take) offense when somebody questions the invincibility of their Warhawks. My how the worm has turned.
No-one has said UWW is invincible, in fact, exactly the opposite, we have a very healthy respect for UWO.  After all they beat us this year, they made it to the semi's in 2012 and have been tough in the WIAC since roughly 2011.   It is going to be a tough game.  From a UWW perspective, our offense is completely different from what it was earlier in the year and our defense is healthy, we were missing several very important starters.   From a UWO perspective the won out, the QB is healthy and they are playing at home.    Really could not get any better from a fans standpoint.    I just wish that we were not in the same bracket so the rest of the d3 world we truly see how strong this conference is.

However, to add a little perspective in 2012, posters where saying that the changing of the guard had occurred and then UWW came back and won the Stagg in 2013 and 2014.....so maybe it is semantics, but it might be a little premature to be saying that the guard is changing.

Hey now. I said nothing about your comments. I simply expressed my worship of all things UWW, from the manliness of the men to the epitome of womanhood that are the females. Surely the rest of us in DIII can bask in the reflected magnificence of the university, student body, and especially the football program? Would you deny us even that small bit of your greater glory?

Who hit the "report to moderator" link and why does it go directly to the inbox of extartanplayer? Is it his job to act as the conscience of this board?

Before the season, jknezek made the mistake of suggesting that it was "ridiculously unlikely" that Matt Blanchard would make the Packers (in a post where he was pretty highly complimentary of Blanchard) and a couple pages of "GTFO, heathen!" ensued.  Some of you guys have no problem telling other people what they're allowed to say in here.

Hey now. Don't drag me back into this. I think UWW is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Everyone on the team should be playing in the NFL all-star game, and they are going to cruise through the playoffs winning by no less than 30 points per game. The coaches are geniuses and Bill Belichek should crawl on his knees to bask in their wisdom while the cheerleaders are the pick of the country for beauty, intelligence, and acrobatic ability.

What else can you say? UWW is a literal paradise on earth while also being a Mecca for all things football...
Now that is sarcasm!   +K

I remember reading those posts. It was all the Johnnie and Linfield fans specifically saying UWW had no chance to win and they would get smashed. Flash forward and we now have UWW fans saying "I think UWW will win, new game, the team is better but UWO is good too and could easily win". VERY different. I think a lot of fans need that PC safe space board because they're too sensitive.

While yes, many UWW fans were way too sensitive about Blanchard obviously having next to no shot to make the team that doesn't really mean that other fans aren't just as sensitive about anything UWW fans post.
Ah, yes, the good old days.................. ;)

I discovered the boards in the middle of the 05 season and when the play-offs rolled around, we would have a new opponent, from a storied program, come on the WIAC board every week and tell us how WIAC boys were all, "big, slow and dumb."  How we had noooooooo business even thinking our team had a shot in hell of winning against them.  That, "no WIAC team will be playing football in December."  Some of the Johnnies and the Cats fans were pretty brutal. It took years of winning and A LOT of it to back down some of the rhetoric thrown at us in those early days when the Hawks started making some noise at the national level. Happy to say that over the years, I  have gotten to know a few of those Linfield posters and am happy to call them friends of mine now.

Funny, I don't remember comments drawing nearly as much fire on this board back in those days.   ;D     8-)

413, I was one of those Johnnie posters in 2005.  My comments were a little more subdued than some of my fellow Johnnie posters.  I hope no one said dumb.  I believe our previous opponent from the WIAC was Stevens Point in 2003.  And they were big and slow.  I think some of us (don't remember if it was me) complained that we didn't host the 2005 game, since we were clearly the better team. :'( ;)

I remember well OldPa (aka Janesville Flash) stating matter of factly WW would win.  I thought it was total BS.  I learned that OldPa was always right, God bless his soul.

After that game many of us came on PP and commented on how good WW was.  It was a total shock to me.  I have not doubted WW in a single game since, with the exception of Stagg Bowls.  Given recent history, I now consider them the favorite every year.  I do this year.  I was wrong too many times picking against them.

I follow these boards closely and what I saw in bleedpurple's post fit's the Wikipedia definition:  Sarcasm is "a sharp, bitter, or cutting expression or remark; a bitter gibe or taunt.

bleedpurple typically uses lots of emoticons to denote he's poking fun.  None on that post.

Remember, everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if it's wrong.   ;) ;D 8-) :P

Ticket booth opens at 9:45 by Oshkosh's stadium. I think I'll buy my tickets first, then head over to Legends Sports Bar & Grill for the UWW pregame festivities.

I remember if you wait until just before the game to purchase tickets, the line is back to the street.

Great plan.  This was exactly the case at Wheaton.  Unfortunately, Wheaton ticket folks weren't quite as quick on their feet to send staff out into the lines to sell tickets.

It's so funny you mention that. I always think about whether to put a smiley face in. I go back and forth. Sometimes with sarcasm, the post just seems funnier without it. Seems almost too obvious. But I confess I am guilty of forgetting what is obvious to the poster isn't always obvious to the reader!

I remember a few years back we attended a UWW/UWO game in Oshkosh, and the line to buy tickets was so long we snuck around to the side of the field and bribed a UWO college student/security guard $10 to just let us in....and he did.  ;D

What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

I agree.  I do that as well.  The emoticons take away from the dryness of the humor.  I've had to explain more than once on here that what I said was dry Irish wit.

Good! At least now there's some talk about the game. Evidently I touched a sensitive nerve or two. I was not insulted at all by any of the responses. The changing of the guard may not be at hand, but it would be good if it were. From a non-WW fan standpoint, it's good to see kudos and attention focused elsewhere in the league. I only WISH the RF game were looked upon by WW with trepidation, bp. There's a gap between the top four and the bottom four in the league, and RF is only on top of the bottom four by a measly no. of points, as measured by winning scores over the bottom 3 this season.
If WW wins, I will be happy for Kevin Bullis, his wife Kathy, and John O'Grady because I have known them for years and like/respect all of them.

BUT I'M PULLNG FOR OSHKOSH. THAT MAY BE JUST ENOUGH TO DO IT FOR THE TITANS!

Now you just wait a minute there mister- you've got some nerve coming on this board and posting that rubbish! (I would add a smiley face but I too really wrestle w using them).
I remember some short years ago when I earned the nickname Mr Titan that I wanted greater parity and stiffer competition for the title. I may be changing my mind now- I'm ready for UWO to go back to their place.
