"A disgusting 23%" lol.

As it said in the option "if no one else can beat them the committee should schedule it that way". And I know a lot of people wanted it that way to be "fair" (read: unfair charity) in past years so a lot of people are feeling that the committee should try and force a different game, which yes, is disgusting.

It is shady for sure, but I am not surprised almost 1/4 of D3 fans feel such a way.

Only concern is the UWW secondary can't ever seem to come up with a big time play. We saw the last two years we could count on that secondary to do something great, now it's just, I don't know... Bland?

The UWW secondary held UWO out of FG range on the last drive of the game. The 5'9" cornerback laid the wood on the all-american TE preventing a sure first down on UWO side of the field.

I thought the UWW secondary came up very big at the end of the game.

I voted that way...but only after reading about the poll on here. Not because I think the committee should stick it to UWW/UMU, but simply because the wording was so inflammatory, I felt an ethical imperative to pile on.

You UWW and Mount backers need some adversity every now and then  ;) ;D 8-)

Not surprising I will agree. It's come to that point where if some other team doesn't make it it's not "fair" or it's "rigged". All starts with participation trophies for all! Though this isn't just a football thing but an American problem.

FWIW, I don't think UWW is the one who should be upset about facing Mount in the Semi's. I think they're the superior team, from the 3.5 UWW games I've watched this year.

But for either team, if you win, you'll face an entire roster (albeit not coaching staffs) who have never had to navigate the Stagg Bowl week. So yeah, tough matchup this week. But major advantage to the winner when it comes to the Title Game.
Not completely true. St Thomas Seniors (and super-senior Punter/WR Pete Fitzsimmons) were there for the 2012 Stagg Bowl.
Guys that showed up on the stat sheet for the Stagg Bowl include RB Jack Kaiser (backup now has been injured most of the season and appears to have been re-injured on Saturday. He got 16 carries in that Stagg as the starter was injured) and Kicker Paul Graupner.  Several others played in that game as well.

Good pt. I think the argument still stands though. How many Freshman really suited up and traveled in 2012. A half dozen?

Compared with Mount and UWW, where nearly the entire roster (outside of some phenom freshman) will have multiple trips under their belt.

On the flip side, it is significant that the coaching staffs have all been through the circus before. At least from an administrative standpoint, that's a huge boon.

As I stated over on the OAC board, we Mount posters have been having a semi-final get together on Friday night before the game for quite a few years.

The location is Rey's, and it's on W.State Street in Alliance.

All UWW fans in town for the game are cordially invited to hang with some old UMU losers (UWW HAS won the last five), and partake in some wing-eating, beer drinking, good-natured banter on Friday night.

Cheers!

Haha, go tell Mount's opponents to hold up their end of the bargain in the past in the playoffs when they could have traveled.

UWW has been: On the road to Linfield in 05, Willamette and UMHB in 08, North Central and Wesley in 10 and UMHB in 13 before Wheaton, Oshkosh and Mount Union this year!  :P

Post-game press conference - Osh first, then UWW.

Interesting comments by Cerroni starting about the 5:20 mark.  Sounds like a bitter man. Says he's not complaining or whining, but it sure sounds like he is. Take a listen.

Both teams are part of the same state system.  Poaching each other's coaches is not good form.  Money is how you do it.  I thought he was perfectly clear.  >:(   Oshkosh needs to figure out a way to get more cash so they can keep these coaches. A new challenge for their administration.  Glad Cerroni said it.
He is an awesome coach.

There is absolutely no issue with going after the best coaches no matter where they are currently coaching.  A head coach has a job to do and an obligation to his school and his players to do everything he can to make them the best they can be. Bad form?  Bad form is passing on someone that you think is the best fit in an effort to not hurt another teams feeling. Come on, these coaches aren't in the pee wee league volunteering their time. This is their profession.

Within the WIAC I see it as bad form. That is an opinion.   Sims better get working on an alternative strategy than raising ticket prices.   :-[

Said the guy whose team hired Whitewater's strength and conditioning coach. I'm guessing you think UW-O should have stayed away from Brown? Right.

Coaches move within the conference all the time...this is nothing new. This happens across D1 even more readily. Some brief examples below. That said, it is difficult to keep coaches around when the payroll is different. This was evident at UW-Madison in recent years as well. Coach C didn't state anything that is incorrect and if he is salty about losing his top coordinators due to money (which is out of his control) then he has all the right to do so. Not sure why this is up for debate.

UWO "stole" Brown.
UWW "stole" the former UWO OC.
UWW "stole" the former UWP DC.
UWO "stole" O'Grady from UWRF.
UWW "stole" O'Grady from "UWO.

UWO has nothing but respect for UWW. Do they get tempered after a defeat in the playoffs? Absolutely. Do they feel they were robbed on a few key plays? Absolutely. Do UWO 'representatives' on these boards trash talk after a win? Absolutely.

Some sensitive souls on these boards.

Good luck to UWW against Mount Union next week. I'm sure you'll continue to represent the state and WIAC conference well.

Well friends, I finally remembered the right password to post at work. LOL.

Wow, what a game Saturday. We sat right behind the band for the game. That wind was a bit stronger than expected and I was sadly a little underdressed for it, so I was cold. Oh well.

Anyways, the UWO punts into the wind were the biggest issue that helped UWW all day long. It was clear that whomever had the wind at their backs, had a big advantage. Some costly penalties by UWW really helped the Titans at critical times. Some crushing hits by Warhawk DB's to cause incompletions were outstanding.

Did anyone see how our defensive lineman got hurt right at the end? Popped his knee from what I heard. Season ender?

I circled this week's game on the bracket when it came out. Now that it is a reality, I'm making the drive to Alliance this weekend with the wifey. Road trip! Leaving ASAP on Friday after work to get as close as possible. Bought an audio book for the ride. I can't wait now. I had always heard about the mystical place known as Alliance so it's kind of a bucket list thing for me I guess.

I will be screaming hard to help the boys out in the stadium that NOBODY survives in. This will be history if they win. I point out that there isn't any Mount Union players on the current squad that have ever beaten UWW is there? You would have to think that there would be a little bit of doubt in their heads. Super confident they surely are, but the ONE team in the country that can and has beaten them is now coming to town. They had to take a gulp when they saw that, and buckle up for war now.

I am curious how many UWW fans are going to make the trip to Alliance.  That place will be packed!  I would love to be there to see if the fans don't tear each other up.  Anyways, good luck to the Warhawks.  I will be rooting for you guys!  Born and raised in Milwaukee makes me partial to Wisconsin teams and a Packer stock owner, hey.   ;)

I think UWW will be well represented at the game.  UWW has traveled exceptionally well this year, although the other playoff games were a lot closer.  Wheatons visitor stands were packed to full with a large number of purple people in the overflow home stands. There was a bigger crowd of purple at Oshkosh.  UWW had the only band there as well, which made the visitors section really electric.  While everyone will be dressed in purple Saturday, I think the Wisconsin shade is going to be there is good numbers.  Plus you can add on a trip to the NFL Hall of Fame while visiting
Are you really talking about the experience of a kicker and how that would dissipate the advantage UWW or Mount Union would have?

So far on the main site the poll has a disgusting 23% favoring UWW/UMU being on opposite sides saying that "if nobody else can stop them the committee should". Basically not supporting possibly the two best teams playing in the championship. In any sport people should never artificially force a rematch to not happen. A lot of those votes are probably coming from East region teams who have for years called for this because it's "fair".  ::)

I believe the two best teams already played each other twice this season  ;)
