I'd like to think that whoever plays Mount Union doesn't decide to roll over and die.

I have been waiting since 2008 to post this.

Congrats to UWW on a great season, and I am guessing this won't be the last time Mount vs. UWW happens.

Mount played their best game of the year, and that's what it took to beat the Warhawks.

raiderpa

Took Mount's best performance in years to beat the Warhawks like this.   Been watching the Raiders since '69 and never saw this good on both sides of the ball at same time, same game.  Stunning.
Now, I hope we didn't leave it out there and sleep through the Stagg.
Master Jedi...the total offense in the first half was 206 to 205 yards gained..dreams do not come true..ha
Hope all the Warhawk fans have safe travels, a great following today and kudos to the WWW admin for sending the band. I thought that was great.
We respect Warhawks like no other and hope to meet again..next year???  Raiders will be doing the largest rebuild in many moons, but we think it can be done.

I personally thought the WarHawks were going to win that game.... But I thought we'd win too...today.... :-)

Next Year?

Congrats to the Warhawks on a great season. No doubt these two teams will meet again. A class program, fans and posters
as well! Hope you enjoyed seeing the Mount Union campus today and had a safe drive home. :)

Just returned home from Mt. - the result aside, it was a great experience.
The Hawks ran into a buzz saw today-Mt was terrific in all phases.  As can be expected, there was a lot of disappointment amongst the team, but UWW did a heck of a job to win 12 games this year.
Thanks to all the team for a great 2015 and best to all the seniors.  You had a great run.

Wow, just wow.......
Having seen the WARHAWKS play, up close and personal the 2nd and 3rd round, I admit to having my doubts about a W yesterday but having said that, holding UWW to no TD's blew my mind.  That Raider team was so impressive in all phases, (yes, DEFENSE does win championships,)  ;D and won the LOS on both sides.  The holy grail of football from which all great things spring from.

A great season for the 2015 WARHAWKS and their staff and congrats to the seniors on a stellar football career.

I wanted to pose a question for the UWW folks.  I think there are only a handful of fan bases that can even have this discussion, but I think we are two of them since we've both tried to navigate this recently.  One thing I noticed yesterday was that UWW seemed to abandon the run, especially on 1st/2nd down, earlier than I ever thought they would.  This was very surprising to me.  My question is if that's one of those ever so slight differences that guys with rings bring over guys who are also great coaches?  Would LL have kind of put his hand on the OC's shoulder and said "Calm down, we're fine.  Play our game."?  I ask this because I had this feeling myself regarding V. Kehres in prior years thinking "Man, that seemed a little panicked.  LK would have steadied the ship there I think."  Bullis and VK will learn these things.  Unfortunately for both of us it may take a couple losses to learn them.

They were all over NAIA. Never hear about them now.

Findlay won the D2 men's basketball national championship in 2008-09, going an undefeated 36-0 in the process. I strongly doubt that anybody associated with Findlay regretted the move from NAIA to D2 when that happened.

Congratulations to the Warhawks on a fantastic season! A Semi-final appearance and a 12-2 record in a year in which there was so much change and adversity to overcome is a tremendous accomplishment. Thank you to the coaching staff and the team for all you poured into Warhawk football this year.  And a special thank you to the senior class. Two-time national champions who showed tremendous leadership in passing down the Whitewater tradition to the younger guys. Awesome job, guys!  You added to the tradition of UW-W! THANK YOU!!

Go Warhawks!

Late to come to this--I have been a Mount fan since I got here in 1990.  I thought Saturday's game was one of the best I have seen for the Raiders--but I also thought that the Warhawks did a hell of a job.  Congrats to all of them, and especially for keeping up the fight even at the end.

I understand that there were some UMU fans that showed less class than we might have liked.  I apologize for their behavior.  We have had a few a$$hole fans in the past that we have managed to drive off of the boards (thank you Pat) and out of the stadium.  Obviously we need to purge the ranks once again.

Congrats to the Warhawks on a fine season--I am sure that we will meet again in the near future.  After loosing to you guys for several games it was nice to come out on top for a change.  I look forward to the next rematch and to another fantastic game--whatever the outcome.
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

Count,
In looking at the play selection, I don't know if the staff abandoned the run early or if they felt they didn't want to risk being in too many 3rd and long situations.  I know it seems like it because UWW had many first down plays in the first quarter.  A quick review of the stats shows 8 runs and 2 passes on 1st down plays.  The 2nd quarter was 2 runs/4 passes, the third quarter was 3 runs/2 passes and the 4th was 2 runs/1 pass.
Even with the 8/2 ratio of the 1st quarter, UWW did not hit pay dirt- only field goals, which I think were very costly.  On the first series, just before the field goal, UWW ran on 3rd and 5 and was stopped for no gain.  On the second series, once in field goal range, the freshman, Jarrod Ware got the first two carries, for negative yards, leading to an incomplete 3rd down pass.
After the running into the kicker penalty, UWW had 4th and 8 at the 22, I had hoped UWW would go for it.  Playing for field goals in that situation against Mt's offense, knowing the issues UWW had on D, was playing with fire IMO.

There were so many things that didn't go well, and so much of that is because the great D played by Mt.  That said, I think if you look at 2013 and 2014, you'll see UWW was significantly more dangerous in the passing game than they were yesterday.
I would have liked to see some younger playmakers given a chance to make things happen.

Other than a QB sneak, I don't believe Chris Nelson ever attempted to run the ball.  He had a couple plays with plenty of time to throw, but no receivers were open, perhaps it would have helped if he would have tucked and ran.  Matt Behrendt, did that in 2013 and it was a difference maker.
