Who's aware of Trayvon Hearns, 6'4", 240 pound qb from Bloomington Kennedy and Crookston? He's now a Falcon. He was 0/11 his senior year of h.s., and 1/10 last fall at Crookston., not a great recommendation.

What state is that? Sounds like it could be MN.

Pat Coleman

Kennedy is awful at football. My daughter goes there. I saw two prospects there this fall -- a kicker and an offensive tackle.

Bloomington Kennedy and Crookston Mn are the two places Trayvon Hearns played.

UW-La Crosse Releases 2016 Football Schedule

http://www.uwlathletics.com/news/2016/2/25/FB022512.aspx?path=football

Sept. 3 at Luther College
Sept. 10 vs. Ripon College
Sept. 24 at Carroll University
Oct. 1 vs. UW-River Falls
Oct. 8 at UW-Stout
Oct. 15 vs. UW-Whitewater
Oct. 22 at UW-Eau Claire
Oct. 29 vs. UW-Stevens Point
Nov. 5 at UW-Oshkosh
Nov. 12 vs. UW-Platteville

Much different non-conference schedule for the Eagles this year.  Instead of playing Mary Hardin Baylor, St. Thomas or North Central like we have in recent years, UWL gets Luther, Ripon and Carroll.  Should put a few more W's on the board and hopefully build some confidence.

This schedule will definitely help their record. It may help their confidence. It may not prepare them real well for WIAC competition. However, at the end of the day, they will be able to purge themselves of the whole "No winning seasons since 2008" stigma.  That way, even a 3-4 WIAC mark and 6-4 overall could be perceived as progress. Hopefully, once the new program gets it's legs, they will return to playing the national level teams again while they can. Because once they return to prominence, a lot of schools will stop answering the phone.

Each season under the last coach went the same way - preseason hype, followed by absolute destruction at the hands of a national power early in the season and a hope that they can make it through WIAC play with a win or two.  Not fun to watch, coach or play, and certainly not a successful way to build the program.

I'll be happy to see the day that schools stop answering the phone.

It may seem that way now but, trust me, you won't when it happens.  That being said I do think their shift in scheduling philosophy is a good one all things considered at this point in time.

I don't think I've ever posted this before but...I agree with everything both of you said.

It didn't hurt too bad... ;D

Brian R. Carroll

UWL's schedule is indeed appropriate, considering where we have been the past few years. It is also true that past success made it difficult to schedule mid- level D3 teams for many years. This, in turn, caused the program to have to face the horrid slates of the past decade or so. I hope to see a veteran team at 4-1 or 5-0 this season when WW comes to town. Wouldn't that re-kindle the old rivalry ?

When is the last time Ripon and Carroll scheduled a WIAC team?  It always seemed like they avoided the WIAC like the plague.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Carroll is moving into the CCIW next season, so they may be feeling some pressure from their new conference mates to schedule tougher. Carroll has never scheduled a WIAC opponent in the D3Football.com era, but in their defense they only had one non-conference date possible as an MWC member.

Ripon opened against UW-Oshkosh from 2006 to 2009, but haven't played a WIAC school since.

Is it too soon for conference prognostications?
Is UWO the preseason favorite w all their returning talent?

We steamrolled Ripon 57-0 in 2006. My first collegiate start (Yes, I am reminiscing). We finished 3-4 in the WIAC and Ripon went on to win the CCIW that year.
UWO 44 Ripon 6 in 2007. UWO finished 4-3 in the WIAC.
UWO 14 Ripon 13 in 2008 . UWO finished 2-5 in the WIAC.
UWO 40 Ripon 16 in 2009. UWO finished 2-5 in the WIAC.

I'm not sure CCIW teams have much to gain from playing a WIAC team.
