I always enjoy checking out the point spread posted by Mr. Mom on the OAC Pickems.
On the subject of a difficult stretch, I see the point spread has been single digit in the last three games for UWW.
I wonder how often a top 10 team has been a single digit favorite for even two consecutive games, let alone three consecutive games.

I guess that'll happen when you play 3 top 10 teams in three weeks (NAIA or D3). I think it's fair to say no other team* will experience such a brutal stretch of regular season games this season.

Edit: I stand corrected...UWSP and UWEC play UWP, UWO and UWW in consecutive weeks this year. Not to mention UWEC also has to play St. Thomas (along with a solid UWSP and Concordia-Moorhead team). That's 4 top 10 teams...brutal!!!

I see Mt. played two consecutive games last year with single digit spreads, UWW (ugh) and St. Thomas.
I get the feeling it will be hard to find many examples of a top 10 team playing two consecutive games w a single digit spread and really hard to find three consecutive games.
I think Wartburg may have qualified.

Clash with the Titans.

Cerroni nails one of the great keys to football success and life right here:

"Obviously, with what they've accomplished over the years, they don't fear anything," Cerroni said of the Warhawks. "What's great about our program now is we don't fear anything, either. Just knowing that is awesome".

I always feel like this is one of the things that make the WIAC so special/challenging/downright hard.  I don't think any of the teams fear UW-W.  It's one of the things that I respect so much about the coaches and players in this conference. Obviously, as with any sport in any league, there are various levels of confidence.  But I don't think there is any fear. I feel like we always get our opponents' best shot (which is often pretty darn good).  I read the OAC message board and read how conference teams go into Alliance intimidated.  I really believe if Mount played in the WIAC, they would have suffered a couple non-UW-W losses over the years. Between the physicality and teams not being intimidated. It's just not a conference you can blow through. However, the team(s) that survive won't be intimidated by anyone in the playoffs either. Win, lose, or draw, they won't be intimidated.

Looks like the big man who came in and tried to make a tackle too tackled his two buddies more and allowed that last TD. Thanks for the help!

Funny how games can end up...Patterson did squat the entire game and becomes the hero with one, 16 yard play.

Well, it is definitely rare during the regular season..  It's not often that a conference has three teams ranked in the top 10 (or seven!).   :o
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

What a game. Defense played tough and the offense put it together when they needed too.  Hopefully Wilbur will get a little extra practice time under center this week and figure out how to hold on to the ball, but he made some good throws. I hope the question of the starter was settled today. Now it's on to LaCrosse who ain't scared either.

No doubt. La Crosse will the be the 6th consecutive team that UW-W has played that is undefeated when the game kicks off. The first five had their first loss 60 football minutes later. We shall see if the trend continues.

What a great win for the Hawks! They overcame uncharacteristic mistakes and got the win against a very good team.  There is much to clean up, but winning consecutive weeks against three really good and highly ranked teams is a tremendous accomplishment. Today, Morningside beat the #3 team in the nation (NAIA) 69-7. The way the Whitewater schedule plays out and with the improvement of the WIAC, this year has the feel of an eight week playoff run before the playoffs even start!

Today had the intensity of a national semi-final game. And what a crowd and atmosphere! While the Hawks need to continue to strive for consistency, one thing is becoming increasingly obvious.  UW-W is a very difficult football team to beat.

What a weekend,  bleed. Cubs up 2-0 in the NLDS, and Hawks top UWO. Loving life  :D
