Eagles readying for test against Whitewater

http://lacrossetribune.com/sports/local/eagles-readying-for-test-against-whitewater/article_e1cf4acf-8ca6-594b-88d2-1d0cbb45895a.html

5-0 and a QB that's thrown for 300 yards in 3 consecutive games- I assume this means UWL has no intention of taking it easy on the Dub. I'm glad to see UWL back.

Me too!  But keep in mind UWL hasn't faced a defense anywhere close to the level of Whitewater's, so I wouldn't expect another 300 yard day.  What I would expect however, is a confident UWL team that believes they can beat the Warhawks.  That alone hasn't been true for a many seasons now.

A confident team is a dangerous team. UWW has given up a ton of yards via the pass but they've been very stingy in giving up points. My guess is UWL's success will depend on their performance in the red zone as I'd be surprised to see big scoring plays.
One never knows though.

Let's be honest, shall we. The clock is going to strike midnight for UWL this saturday...no amount of confidence is going to be enough to save them...they're not playing Ripon or Carroll this week or even RF or Stout. Tell it like it is emma.

I am pumped to see the Eagles play an important WIAC game for the first time in a decade. We all know about WW and understand that UWL is the underdog, but I would not dismiss them too quickly. I expect a competitive game, and I could see an upset if the ball bounces our way. In any case, it is great to be back in the mix. GO EAGLES.

When it comes to UWW, I prefer they think of the exception rather than the rule.  I think of 2014 UWRF and 2012 UWSP and Buffalo State.
UWL isn't just squeaking by their opponents, they are showing some mash capabilities.
I'll rest comfortably when the W is in the UWW books.

Every other week you lay a score down...this week, "I expect a competitive game..." Shocking!

I predict a 34-21 Eagle win at Stout.

I predict a 28-17 Eagle win over RF. On a humorous note, a friend of mine says the Falcons are coming to La Crosse on Oktoberfest weekend to get hammered. We shall see.

UWL will beat Carroll today by a score of 35-14.

I predict a 48-20 Eagle win over Ripon.

I will predict a 27-14 Eagle win in Decorah. Good luck and safe travel to all teams and fans.

Be bold, give us a score!!

I can see it being closer than expected. It's kind of a "hangover" game for UWW, considering they just had an emotional roller-coaster playing 3 top 10 teams in a row.

I think we all can agree La Crosse has definitely improved this season, but I don't they are quite at the level to compete with the top of the WIAC...yet. I guess we'll see tomorrow.

From a WIAC perspective, I am really interested in the UWO at UWSP game.
UWSP was within 4 points of UWP with 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, 28-24.  UWP then went on a bit of a run.
I still haven't heard what happened with UWSP's original returning/starting QB- Kyle Larson- anybody know?

Sounds like you and D3 Keith have the mental telepathy going at full bore.

Obviously, some of you drive by snipers are thinking Bobo is being a bit combative.  I want to be clear that my only point is that we cannot use UWL's first five games this season as a litmus test for concluding La Crosse is back to it's pre-2003 form. Anyone who thinks otherwise isn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier. Even the one and only Guru stated UWL is not ready for the Warhawks. Hard not to agree with him in this case.

Darn, what a revelation...I always thought Whitewater did it with smoke, mirrors, and illusions.

BTW SE, how is La Crosse's video feed performing these days...will it be up for the task this weekend? Is there audio included or is it like Platteville's - only video?

It's not the quality of what UWW produces, but it has never cut out on me.  Decent quality with the radio stream laid over the top.  Poor camera work the times that I've watched.

I don't know what this is in reference to.  Is Pat interested in this game too?
More importantly, does he know what happened to Kyle Larson?

Kyle Larson is currently sitting #24 on the pole for this Sunday's NASCAR race in Kansas...  ;)

Quick hits this week:

Keith's take:
QuoteUW-Oshkosh has to bounce back. UW-Stevens Point is 4-1 and trailed UW-Platteville by only four in the second half last week.

Thanks, that's all the matters. UWW isn't that great, imo. The two announcers take being impartial a bit too far - I would rather hear homerism out of the university students than their constant praising of the opposition.
