I'm thrilled to see UWW pick up non-con games at IWU and vs Concordia, two very good programs.
This is so unusual it makes me wonder if other teams are seeing UWW a little differently these days.

And why not?! ;D

The current coach has never even made it to the Stagg Bowl, much less won it! :o 8-)

I have no clue how good C-M is expected to be, but I fear my Titans have bitten off far more than they can chew.  But I'm proud they have risen to the challenge.  This past season they opened hosting Monterrey Tech (not even an official game), an emergency replacement for Lawrence, who backed out of the contract - but what the heck were they doing scheduling a team like Lawrence in the first place?!  It was bad enough when they usually scheduled an MIAA team.

We faced UWW back in 2009.  Having beaten BOTH Wheaton and NCC (for probably the only time in the last couple of decades), then beaten Wabash in round one, I really thought we could at least give your guys a good game.  Boy, was I wrong: 45-7 UWW.

I think it's a great time for teams to schedule UWW. Although their record the last two seasons is really impressive, the difference of late seems to be that there isn't a dominant aspect to the team. In 2009 UWW had both a great offense and defense (maybe their best team of the era)- IWU simply ran into a buzz saw that year.  All the other Stagg teams had at least a dominant side of the ball.
A coach looking to get his players confidence from playing "one of the big boys" might be wise scheduling UWW now.

I like this. I think the same way. If you are a second tier team you can schedule UWW now and know you are still playing an elite team, but you might not be scheduling a buzz saw the way you were a few years ago. I think it's small degrees of difference, and in any given year there is a big probability you get buzz sawed again by a national Championship caliber UWW, but it's not the same probability it was before. That being said, it's not going to matter to a team like TCNJ, who wasn't a tier 2 team, but that cuspy championship type team from those top 5 conferences? Yeah, there's something to learn, some kind of a chance to take a big scalp, and a chance to at least build confidence you can play at that level.

Don't ask me to quantify those options however, we are still talking about one of the few perennial contenders.

I think you are right Emma that this is a good time to schedule UWW....Simply it seems the talent pool is evening....One of the reasons I believe is the lack of recruiting in our area....have not seen a Warhawk coach at our high school in a few seasons....a high school that has produced all americans Ford, Coppage, and Sakellaris has not gotten a look lately.....if the Warhawks wish to remain at the top in my opinion they need to do a better job showing off their facilities and program which are still great....

As far as I can tell, St. John's is still looking for a game and is the only MIAC team not at full capacity. I'd be talking to UWW if I were St. John's.

While I don't have the specifics I've been told that our schedule next year includes just four home games.

Bummer. At least it's an easy drive to IWU for a fun road trip.

All things considered, with 2 nonconfs (Ill Wesl and Conc Moorhead) already locked in on the road, it made 4 the likely number for home games.  PLEASE don't let one be a Friday night .....
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

I think Wash U is the third nonconference game also being played on the road.

Yup, it's on WashU's website. 9/16, UWW at WashU

Doesn't include game times for conference games but one clearly a night game.

On the bright side, after UWO, 4 of the last 6 are at home.

IMO this is an excellent schedule (in terms of opponents) for UWW.  All non-con games are high quality opponents that will prepare UWW for UWO in game 4.  We will know pretty quickly what UWW 2017 will be.

I agree with this whole-heartedly. I was kind of disappointed that UWO was the first conference game right out of the gate, but so be it.
