What difference does it make?  Our season ends Saturday regardless of who's ranked or isn't ranked.   Being ranked is essentially meaningless if you aren't playing on the 18th IMO.

Doesn't make a difference to UWW, but it does impact UWL and C-M, each of whom played UWW and will count towards results against RRO's.

Correct. I think BW was talking strictly as a UWW fan. I couldn't care less what their impact on other teams are right now.

(As I re-read what I posted, it comes across as fairly bitter  ;D )

Hey Grinch.
I'll give two reasons it's important.
1. I believe in the wisdom of Lloyd Christmas- even at One in a Million, there is still a chance.
2. General intrigue in the selection process. Realizing UWW has little chance, they still have an impact on the West Region selection. A UWW win and a C-M win should move C-M ahead of UWL, killing any hope of UWL getting a Pool C. Who knows, if C-M and UWW win big, maybe UWW moves into the #2 Pool C slot. At least they are in the conversation.

Common opponents don't need to be ranked to be a useable data point.  I thought C-M should have gone ahead of UWL this week based on their win pct. advantage and the common opponent advantage.  In the end, I don't think it changes the calculus for C-M.  They would still need to win on Saturday to get in even if they were ranked ahead of UWL.

I agree.  No way C-M backs into this thing with a close loss to SJU, but the emergence of UWW as regionally ranked.

D O.C.

Win your conference and not worry?
Yeah! That's the ticket.

Easily said, yet not all conferences are created equal.

kinda being an outsider looking in (considering the Oles are far from discussion)

What happens if the other pool C teams lose rivalry games this week

C. Mellon beats Case
Salsbury beats frost
wabash beats depauw

does that give hope to the loser of the SJU/Con game that they can get in.

Those results would most likely bring Wheaton into play and then I'm not sure how we would see the West ordered- whether St. John's would be ranked ahead of UWL or not.  It seems unlikely that C-M would be ranked ahead of UW-L (despite plenty of reasons to do so) given that they are not ranked ahead of UWL at the moment.  My sense is that loser of the St. John's/C-M would be behind UWL and don't think UWL would go in before Wheaton.  Or maybe they would but then I don't think your third place MIAC team would also go in before Wheaton.  Thats a roundabout way of saying, not likely, even if your proposed results all happen.

Wally just for fun.
If C-M, UWL and UWW win, do you feel there is any chance we'd see the rankings go:
C-M
UWW
UWL
St John's
(Or St John's then UWL- this order doesn't matter for my selfish purposes as long as they are both regionally ranked).

Wally, just for fun.

If the sun rises in the west , there's three consecutive nights of frost, two more days of average temperatures followed by a heavy snowfall.  ANd if both C-M and UWL lose.  Do you think there's a chance WW will get a bid?

I'm sorry emma I just couldn't help myself.
