My apologies... but UW-O outfits look hideous.   :P

They are from the other side of the tracks. The Titans can't afford good uniforms.

Bleed, on the surface it makes sense the UWO-Mt game would be high scoring. I wonder though how much does Mt rely on the deep ball for their offense to roll. If they need the long ball, will the UWO defensive backs get beat deep like so many of Mt's opponents? I was shocked how often Frostburg's D got beat deep today.
With a controlled rush and better discipline in coverage, Mt may be forced to sustain drives.
I am anxious to see UWO's power vs Mt's D.

As a UMU fan I can say we're quite reliant on the deep ball, luckily our receiving corps might be the best in all of d3. If UWO can get pressure and force us to put together sustained drives they'll have a big advantage

I agree and yet disagree. Yes Mount is reliant on the deep ball, and yes the receiving corps top to bottom (Hill, Ruth, Friss, Herrington, Moxie and add in Haynes and Littlejohn when needed) is incredible. I also agree that if UWO can force Mount to sustain drives - convert 3rd and even 4th downs, move chains - the advantage is to UWO. However, I disagree on the rush. If UWO can keep it all in front of them - not really a rush at all - and maintain coverage the  it will be a long day for Mount. Problem is - always that 1 or 2 guys who don't maintain gap discipline, push too far upfield and then the QB takes off. Am I looking forward to this game....not really. If the NCAA was really in Mount's pocket then a late "oops the bracket was messed up - we are sending Brockport to Alliance" would be welcomed.

Mount did a good job with play-calling to help Poorman settle into the game, rushing attempts on many 1st and 2nd downs to set up more manageable 3rd down throws.  It will be interesting to see if they can do similarly against Oshkosh or even if they feel like they have to do that.

The WR corps is impressive.

It will be interesting to see if Mount can do anything well enough to win. I'll keep these old fingers crossed.

I do not understand your comment, sounds like you believe the Raiders would be lucky to win. Do not see it that way.

Good comment. I didn't do that very well.. I absolutely beileve Mount can win. If you look at the OAC board, I was one of the few to defend my alma mater. I did stats and records for the media guide for many years.. I definitely think the Raiders can win. I think they can win it all.
I meant to say they will have to play a relatively error free game. UWO is not Wilmington.
I don' t always say something as I should. Blame it on age. At least I still have a full head of hair.
Go Purple Raiders! Beat the Titans!!!!!!!

Anybody else disappointed that the "East Region Champ" doesn't have to play vs UWO or Mount? Not to knock UMHB, because they have an all-time defense, but I don't think they'll be able to put up 50 on 'em like UWO or UMU would.
I look forward to the HansenRatings prognostication for next week's game at UMHB.

Early prediction is UMHB wins 30-16. I haven't updated the Y1P+ model yet, and that may not be as generous, because it doesn't count Special Teams and Defensive touchdowns.

I saw it mentioned that the game will be a 1PM start, not 12:05. Is that correct? I saw it on UMU media release.

Btw, I'm looking forward to this game as much as the UWW game in Alliance in 2015! I'm confident our defense will play well enough, but I'm concerned about our offense sustaining long drives. UWO has a very disciplined defense that gets even tighter in the red zone and our running game isn't as great as it has been in the recent years. I'm guessing a 31-27 game with either team winning.

I'm just thinking if that 6 hour Salem drive seems long, a "8.5 hour drive" to Oshkosh would be miserable. I've been told it can take an extra hour depending on Chicago, right?

Hey hsbsballcoach7! I hope you choose to make the trek up to Oshkosh next weekend, and I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head as far as it concerns Chicago traffic. Would definitely recommend that you try to avoid driving through the city anytime between 3:30 and 7(ish) on Friday afternoon/evening. Having said that, it's a pretty easy trip once you've made past Chicago. Also, it is supposed to be a balmy 15-20(ish) degrees for the game on Saturday so be sure to dress/pack accordingly!

Based on some casual browsing of the interwebs, it sounds like Mount Union has a quick score, big-play offense that relies pretty heavily on the deep ball. I've come to realize that one must take D3 regular season statistics with a grain of salt, but it is hard not be impressed with the passing numbers your starting QB put-up this year.

What can you tell me about your defense? While Coach Cerroni is definitely a defensive minded head coach (he has almost no involvement in the offensive game-plan whatsoever), it is our offense that has carried the team this year. I'll be very curious to see what Mount Union does on the defensive side of the ball, as I feel like that could be the key to next weekend's game.

About our defense. Others on this board can answer much better than me. So, this will get you by until you hear from them, if you do.
Head coach Vince Kehres was a defensive lineman when he played. He then became DC under his dad, Larry Kehres. He is now also the DC as well as HC.
Mount has had some top defenses over the years. They haven't won every game, but most of them. How will they match up against Oshkosh? Very well, I hope. We'll find out Saturday.
This should be a great game between two pretty good teams. Good luck to both. As I always say, and I mean it, may the better team win. (Hope that's the Raiders)!
