Is Mount's q.b., Fulford, going to play, or is it Poorman? What happened to Fulford that he missed last week's game?

One reason for poor attendance at d3 games:  televised d1 games.

You can say that again...  ;)

No word from MTU on Fulford vs. Poorman.  I suspect none of us will know until MTU Offense takes the field on Saturday.

Fulford has had some off the field issues (have you been hunting for the past three weeks and away from WiFi/Internet Connection?) and the coaching staff decided to sit him last Saturday.  No announcement on if he or Poorman will start this week.

Both have similar styles.  Fulford may be a bit more athletic, but Poorman appeared to make better decisions (based on my limited impression after one game).

Wait. I thought we were friends. You've turned on me. Now you're rooting for UWO to meet your Crusaders in the Stagg?
Well let me tell you, I'm rooting for the Purple Raiders to meet UMBH in the Stagg.
So there! Nah nah nah nah nah. I' d give you the raspberries but I don't know how to spell that sound.
But the thought's there! Oh what the hell, go Crusaders!

Well not really rooting, I just think the juxtaposition is interesting. Kinda like a Dajavu all over again in a different state. I personally don't relish a rematch with mount U - We don't have Baylor Mullins... now Zane Boles is a QB and our punter sooooooo.... But a rematch with the titans, 6 on one hand half dozen on the other, pick your torture either way the game (if it goes that way and we make it) both teams want revenge, I just think Oshkosh want's it a tiny bit less...(revenge that is) - I bet Mount U had Baylors Jersey on the wall full of dart holes all summer long.

Fulford will start. Or, Poorman will start. It will be one of those two. Even we don't know.

Maybe Dl on TV is a factor in low attendance. I'm sure that's part of it. Around here, most are big Ohio State fans. So, that's where their interests lie.
At least in the case of Mount Union, people figure they will win, and win big, so why go to the game.

Also, maybe, Saturday is shopping day. If you work during the week, that's the day.

There are probably other reasons but, I just don't understand why more people don't watch our games.

Hope I haven't incurred the wrath of certain posters for bring this up.
God knows, I am a 1957 Mount Union graduate!

With a big game coming up and talk of offenses, defenses , special teams and which team hasn't seen an (fill in the blank) like (team name), I ask a diversionary question.
Why do our teams not draw bigger crowds? UWO averages close to 2000 as does UMU. Other top programs, with the exception of St. John's, are around the same number. What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon - cheering on our alma mater or just watching "pure" football . Cheer for the local college or watch because they're "pretty good"!
You have a good team, we (UMU) have a good team as does UMHB, Wesley, UWW, St. Thomas and several others.
Don't know the answer. A lot of people are missing some good football.
Any comments?

I think that many schools streaming the games online has also had an effect on attendance.  If you are bit further away from campus you can make the decision to stay home and not have the drive to and from campus to worry about.  Depending on the schools location, just the travel can add several hours to the whole experience.  I think because of this site and schools wanting to make themselves known and available to prospective students, alumni, etc that the overall footprint of D3 athletics is much larger than it was prior to 1999.  If you wanted to see the team, you had to go to campus.  With streaming, it's still different from seeing with "live eyes", but you can still see the team and the game action.

Oh, OK. I get what you're saying. We have 3 good teams from 3 good programs (don't really know much about Brockport) still in the hunt. No matter who plays who, should be a great Stagg Bowl.
My preference would be UMU vs UMHB. Bet I surprised you with that one.
Let's hope no injuries Saturday. Good luck to the Crusaders and the Purple Raiders.
Hey, Crusaders and Raiders. Rhymes!

Good call. I should have known that. I forget because I go to the games. I live 5 blocks from the stadium.
Thanks for the feedback.

Ahem,
Don't mean to interrupt you two on Titan Central, but...

We could be on the verge of another unique run of repeat Stagg Bowl match ups. From Mt-UWW to possibly UMHB-UWO. If so, there may be demands that both be put on the same side of the bracket.

Maybe. UMHB-UWO have played 1.....8 more to go and its a run. A tad premature to worry about same side of the bracket. ;D

Emma...other than when you were going on and on and on and on about NCC, I think you are quite the perceptive individual!  Well, other than you are a wanna be slant running/pound the rock honk for UWW.   ;)

I don't have a strong view as to what this game will bring, but I can say that no matter what happens I like Mount's chances vs. Oshkosh vs. UWW any day.   That may change if/when Oshkosh keeps their dominance going.

UWO Titan 78

I don't know many teams looking forward to playing Mount, but I really think the Titans are. This is what this team has been prepped for the entire season. The expectations of this team were to WIN the Stagg Bowl. Yes, they had to get through the best conference in D3 and they had to win some playoff games, but when your goal is to win the Stagg Bowl you know that means going through Mount. It just is what it is. We have played Mount before, and it wasn't pretty. The Titans will not be in awe of Mount. Will they win, I don't know. But they sure believe they will win, and I'm not sure there are a lot of teams that Mount faces with that belief. I haven't seen Mount play this year, and I typically don't until the semi-final games that are on TV. I do know that the WRs scare me. I've spoken in the past about our problem stopping elite pass receivers (See Nick Holcomb for LAX). We've been a little better in the past few weeks as we've gotten healthier, so hopefully we have shored some things up. But mobile QBs and great WRs give us trouble. Usually not a recipe for success against Mount. That being said, coach Cerroni is as good as they get at game-planning for offenses. Offensively, I think we'll score. If we don't, we won't win. UMHB shut us down in last year's Stagg, but this offense is deeper, more diverse, and better. If we don't turn the ball over, we will score. One thing that really worries me is our kick coverage. We will need to be better in this area. We tend to have a lapse (or two) in kick coverage and give up some short fields. We can't do this against Mount. We need to make Mount earn everything they get. I think this will be a close game. To beat Mount you have to dominate the line of scrimmage. The Titan offensive line might be the best unit on the field. I think they will succeed. If the Titan front seven can dictate things, I like our chances. Good luck to both teams. Hail Titans!

Always have respect for WIAC teams.  This year is no different.

Mount Union will have to bring their A GAME to win this weekend.  Looking forward to a great game!

I think you missed an "on".  :)
Bleedpurple will likely agree with you about chances vs UWO. I can see your point from a defensive and maybe overall athlete perspective.

I'd like Mount's chances better if it was being played with the temps in the 50s with no wind or rain like they had last week against Frostburg.   Not sure temps in the teens is conducive to this version of the Mount offense given their lack of a legit running game.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!
