ManiacMan, I'll bite the troll second-stringer. Linfield has 62 consecutive winning football seasons.

18-4 the last two seasons with all losses to UMHB.

Hey, the guy who originally posted the comment was a "Second Stringer" you're picking on us rookies. Anyway, yes Linfield has a great tradition and program. UST is 23-3 over the same period with losse to UWO, Stout and UMHB. Common opponent UMHB, It would be interesting to hear who their players and coaches thought was the tougher opponent? Anyway, both teams will be watching on Friday evening from home. Fun to banter. Happy to be a part of the website now. What do I have to do make the starting lineup?

Practice, practice practice!

Where were the Oshkosh fans today? Watching the game now, and it looks like there were like 100 people there.

I was surprised by how much crowd noise I was hearing as Mount made their comeback.  Considering the population base in the Fox Valley, the size of the school and the success the program is experiencing  I've often wondered why they don't draw better.  The other thing is once the playoffs start and students have to pay their numbers tend drop significantly.

There is so much we can talk about from yesterday's thriller near the river. The one thing that surprised me more than anything was the Mt dominance of the scrums. On Mt running plays that ended in a scrum, it seemed the Raiders got all the extra yards. It almost seemed there was a lack of willingness by UWO defenders to join the scrum and stop the forward momentum.
After a bit, once Mt was inside the 10 I lost any hope that UWO would make a stop. It was more of a "let's get our D off the field so we can get the O back ASAP."

Not the outcome I wanted or expected but the team that earned the win got the win imo.

Hard for me to imagine the UWW teams from 2005-2014 ever giving up a 25 point lead in the 2nd half.  UWO is there, but not quite "there".

Would like to say that I hope the UWO QB wins the Gagliardi Award.  He is a great talent, but after watching the special halftime report about his sacrifice for the young girl and the bone marrow transplant made me an instant fan.  What an incredible young man and what a story.  He is a true All-American on and off the field and this Mount Union alum and fan offers my respect and admiration for his service.
I cannot imagine a greater service to community or fellow man than this fellow has made. Good luck, you have my vote.

Agreed.  And I've let go of my resentment towards you completely!  ;)

I agree 1000%! I don't know much about the other candidates, but Kasper seems to be everything the Gagliardi Award is supposed to be about. He has my vote as well.

Great season UWO and thanks for some super games.

Maybe once the tears dry you could send them a card and maybe some flowers.
Envy is a bad thing.  You should shake that.
That is really, really good coming from you AR. Really good.   I know  you are a troll that should not be fed.  If you had been sober enough to read the boards lately, you would know my post had nothing to do with the Titans and everything to do with Emma's affinity for them. I would never in a million years respond to a post of Titan78's with what I posted. With other teams' fans, I reserve my smack for before games, not after them. Warhawk fans who root for gush over other teams?  Not so much.

Unless of course you are referring to my envy for Emma.  ;)

You two seem to share the same definition of "there".
The way I figure it, you're "there" if you are good enough to be in the Stagg.
You're just as much "there" if you can go up 35-10 on a Stagg team as you are if you can come back from 35-10. I don't think "there" requires you to win the Stagg.

That's a valid definition of "there".  It's just a different one than the one I used in the original post you responded to. So there's room for both of our points. Teams being "good enough to be in the Stagg" is not equal to teams being worthy of being compared to national championship teams.  I'm sorry, but a team that blew a 25 point lead in the semi-finals is not on an equal level with UW-W teams that won national championships (or ANY teams that won national championships).  My original point before the game was that some people were premature in believing UW-0 was equal to the UW-W national championship teams. I believe Saturday proved that to be absolutely correct.

UWO is there because they have been there. Yesterday was a lesson, nothing more. UMHB got the lesson and so did UWO: never stop. The game is never over - until it hits 00:00. Knock Mount for throwing deep (61 yards) week before up 56-24 or whatever - but its playoffs. The game isn't over - until the final whistle blows because each one of these teams is really good. Some are great but all are really good. They don't have to win it to be "there". Unless its Tommies - they have to win it twice before I will say they are "there".

Right, I forgot you are comparing UWO today to past UWW champion Stagg teams.

I don't know. There's elements to a team. No UWW team ever went ahead of Mt by 4 scores midway through the 3rd quarter. So is UWO's offense better than any UWW champion team?
I don't recall UWW having much success at all on kick returns. I surely don't recall UWW having much success on deep balls.
2017 UWO is certainly superior to any of the UWW championship teams in kick returns and explosiveness. Heck, did any UWW team ever average 6.2 yards per carry in a championship game? UWO did yesterday (and for some reason threw more than they ran).
So I guess it comes down to defense, and of course, coaching.
2017 UWO defense is not good enough to win a championship without a great offense. UWW had great defenses, except for 2014.

Championship coaching: I have to believe the UWO coaching staff, more than anybody, wishes they could have a do over.

Oooh, I had already forgotten about that ridiculous criticism.  (Ridiculous because there was still almost a full quarter to go; ridiculous because the deficit was not yet insurmountable.)

Good catch after what happened yesterday!

You are correct. They will demand a coronation at midfield with me presenting the crown.  ;D
