WIAC Posters, I am driving from Chicago to Stevens Point on Saturday morning for the JCU-UWSP game. Any insights on parking and the works?

This will be my 3rd time seeing JCU playing a WIAC opponent at their place and I must say I have been very impressed with your stadiums thus far.

You'll be less impressed by Goerke Field than the Perk or Oshkosh but it's fine. There's a field at the north end of the stadium that's tailgate friendly if that's your thing. JCU got a team? It will be a reboot year for the Pointers.

We should bounce back this year. We're returning 16 starters and as you may recall last year the team lost to Oshkosh and Mount Union by a 10 combined points. I am thinking that we will go 9-1 and be back in the playoffs, but only time will tell.

On a fun side note, because I'm sure you all are Pack fans. Mitch Trubisky's brother is one of our WR's. Bear Down!

Actually, we are a pretty solid mix of Packer fans and Bear fans.  As far as Point parking, assuming you have Ohio plates, if you park in the freakishly small lot on the home side of the field, don't let your bumper extend over the sidewalk, even a few inches. They will ticket you!  >:(

You'd think the cheeselanders would thank us flatlanders every now and then. Something like, "Hey there kind Illinoisian sir, we appreciate the large sums of money you contribute to our economy through speeding tickets, parking tickets, college tuition, recreation and liquor/beef jerky sales. To demonstrate our appreciation, please park here in our Reserved Parking section dedicated to our most valued guests."

Truer words rarely spoken! I keep wanting to say that I hate Wisconsin, but then I go to Milwaukee and spend half of what I would spend in Chicago and eat Cheese Curds and  have to remind myself that I do not in fact hate Wisconsin! lol

UWO roster is up. 44 freshmen. I'm sure there's some quality in there but no names that jump out at me. Peter MacCudden, who was riding a scooter with his foot in a boot at the WFCA all-star game, is not on the roster -- presuming he's a greyshirt.

How's the pick'em work? Where is it?

You can find it on the main D3boards.com home page. The link to it is just below the General Football thread. It appears as: Child boards: Pick-Ems, etc.

Here's a direct link to the WIAC Pick-Ems

Just post there who you think will win, based on the games Captain Joe posted. There's also numerous other Pick Ems you can participate in, if you want to venture outside the WIAC.

I can set it up after work today but probably will need someone to help run it after that considering how busy I am as of late.

If no one else wants to, I can take it over if you want starting next week.

Thanks

I like those games WW.

Anyone know when the roster will come out for UWW? I don't remember the exact rule, is it Thursday?
According to Warhawks Athletics the roster should be posted tomorrow.

Just what a Wisconsinite expects from you Illinois folks.

Illinois needs Wisconsin for:
a) Milwaukee - a nice-sized big city (yes, a city with a metro of 1.5+ million is a big city) that isn't nearly as mammoth as Chicago, so they can come up here for festivals, sports events, etc., and not have to deal with the insane traffic, the long lines, the ridiculous prices, and
b) the many beautiful recreational opportunities that Wisconsin offers.

Wisconsin needs Illinois for:
a) Chicago - a huge city with typical huge-city type amenities that only a few cities in the US can offer, and
b) the tourism and tax dollars that Illinois folks bring to their economy.

Really, truly, both states need each other, just like any productive region of the nation has inter-state synergies.

I have a question for you emma - I would like to know WHY Northern Illinois people rarely seem to even acknowledge the southern counties of Illinois, like those between the Mississippi and the Ohio rivers which is the home of the Shawnee National Forest, in my opinion the most beautiful part of your state. The drive there can't be any further than your favorite northern Wisconsin hangouts.

Illinois' southern border is I-80 as far as I'm concerned  ;)
Although I do love me some Rend Lake.

I imagine there are many reasons. I'll give you one of mine. My wife and I love to drive on vacation and consider the drive as an enjoyable part of the trip. As nice as very Southern IL can be, we still have to drive through a lot of blah to get there. Heading north (we to to Eagle River often), once we are passed Madison, the drive is very pretty.
Plus, WI bars celebrate Badger touchdowns with free shots. I hear they do the same for the Packers, but I have to draw the line somewhere.
