Probably not. Likely, UST will beat one of you before you get to each other.  ;D

Based on the recent regional rankings, U$T will be turning in their equipment on 11/11.  :o

Awww shucks. Too bad we don't have a chance to win another "big" game before then and earn our way in :-)

Na, na, na, we all know the winner of UST/BU will be in the dance. (assuming they both win this week). The beauty of that "Perfect Storm" loss in Collegeville is that somebody good will be complaining about getting the honor of hosting UST in the second round. The question is, who will it be?

Unless we beat Bethel but then pull an SJ2 and lose in the 1st round of the playoffs.

I'm pretty sure Oshkosh would score on St. John's, so I'm saying Whitewater is better.  :D

Wow. A lot of butt hurting from SJU fans here that UWW is ranked higher than SJU in the regional ranks

:o :-X

2 people = "a lot of butt hurting"?

It's still early, and it's quite obvious that the committee sees UWW and SJU as pretty even right now.  They had to give the nod to someone.  It doesn't really bother me that UWW got it.  It'll be interesting how it plays out in the final regular season games.  The #1 seed is nice, but the #2 seed isn't bad, either.

As far as Brad's pick of UWW over SJU, I would be shocked to see a WIAC supporter ever give a nod to the MIAC team.  WIAC pride is strong.  The cold, hard fact is that both teams are darn good.  You can give all the credence you want to SJU giving up 600 yards to U$T, but the fact of the matter is they still won the game by 20 points and put up 40 points against a team that hadn't given up that many points in years.

Good luck to UWW in their remaining games.  SJU hasn't fared too well with them in our latest meetings, but if it should happen in 2018, it'll be fun.  And I hope it's at SJU.  ;D

Seemed like more. Just found it funny that UWW fans didn't care about the #1 ranking until fans from other threads started griping about it here. Like it was the WIAC's fault the committee game them the #1 spot.

I don't really care about it either. In fact, in my West and National fan poll I have SJU ahead of UWW...but what do I know. Maybe the committee just looked at UWW's undefeated record in the toughest conference in the country and gave them the #1 seed. Having a tougher SOS probably helped too.

I'm pretty sure Whitewater wouldn't put up 40 on St Thomas, so I'm saying SJU is better :D

Y'all asked to get some teams other than Whitewater involved in the WIAC board. I'm guessing migrating the UST-SJU sh!+show isn't what you had in mind :-)

Yeah, why are we over here? Maybe we needed some impartial moderators. Oh well, back to the MIAC board. Ya'll are welcome over to our territory if you need a UST/SJ2 sh--Show fix! If not, we'll gather again in 2-weeks to mix it up for the playoffs!

I lurked here last night (more than usual) because of some silly comments about the committee maybe putting SJ2 behind UWW because they gave up 600 yards in 1 game against a top 10 team. That seemed like pretty absurd logic to me (particularly in a game they won by 20 and put up nearly 600 of their own yards), but defending the Johnnies isn't really something I'm generally inclined towards.

I think you guys need to worry about a U$T/BU **** show.  Those baptists fight dirty.

Brad

I like the debate we got going on here. Let me defend myself:

The WIAC seems way down right now correct? The issue from watching the league is that everyone is much improved. UWRF has a chance to beat bethel, Stout who is a bottom half team loses 28-0 to St. John's with a back up Qb. UWEC has beat Loras who is 4-3 and st Norbert's who is 7-1. UWL gave the north ranked #2 Illinois Wesleyan their only lose. From top to bottom this league is way deeper than it has ever been before. Stout beat gustie who is in fourth.

Go to the MIAC: you can be mad at me but it is the truth. From top to bottom, the league is much down. St. John's has been tested twice. Bethel and st Thomas. Whitewater is tested every week even though the scores don't look like it. UWW run game with Peete is the same if not better than st Thomas. This issue with the MIAC this year is the Concordia is down, and the bottom of the league can't even hang in games and none of them beat anyone in nonconferece.

Do I think it would be a heck of a game? It sure would. But the Warhawks have been battled tested every week. That is me taking my WIAC hat off and just looking at facts. Warhawks would win 24-14.

I don't think the committee cares about the 600 yards in a WIN. I think they care about who you have played and who you have beat. Just my 2 cents

Can I worry about it AND post here? I'm already doing 3 hours each day in the weight room to prepare for... uhhh.. watching the game from the stands.

Brad/bleed is spot on here.  I think the vote tally for #1 in the West region was probably razor thin.  Even though St. John's has wins over two higher ranked teams than the wins over ranked teams that UWW has, there really is no debate that UWW is playing better competition each week than St. John's is.  Bluntly, the bottom half of the MIAC is pretty gross this year.  That may be what tilts things in favor of UWW right now.  Still two games left that can shake things up, plus St. John's has a chance to really leave an impression in Week 11 against a quality opponent.

This is an interesting rankings position to watch because I'm pretty sure that the fourth #1 seed in the tournament comes from this pair and while I don't think home field advantage means a ton in Division III, a potential St. John's/UWW regional final is one of those times where the location probably matters.

That's a BS statement.  The bottom of the MIAC sucks with a capital S, but the top of the MIAC is as good as ever.  Sure, Concordia is having an off year, but SJU & U$T are very good, regardless of what you think, and Bethel has improved steadily throughout the year and is a very solid team.  We all know that the bottom half of the WIAC would beat the bottom half of the MIAC to a pulp, but the upper teams are very competitive with one another.

I'm not of the opinion that a team needs to be challenged week in and week out to have a successful playoff run.  Sure, they do need to have some tough games, but having a healthy team and peaking in November/December is the key.

Despite that I hate the Tommies being good, their relatively recent rise to prominence has elevated the upper level of the MIAC.

Gross in MIAC or WIAC terms, but those MIAC bottom dwellers would probably fare pretty well in the likes of the UMAC, MWC, or even the ARC.  Not that that matters.
