...I've got no team to cheer for on Saturday...

Please don't cheer for the Johnnies.  We don't need any of your unlucky Tommie ju-ju rubbing off on us.

Now you've got me tempted to cheer for them if there is any hope that it can curse you.
But mostly I'll just be ignoring your game because it's going to be a blowout. Not even worth my mental energy, unless the Martin Luther fans want to throw out an over/under for their star player (do they even have a star player?)

I remember drunk NCC fans literally swearing in my face when I attended the UWW/NCC game in 2010.

I had a similar experience with UWW fans at The Perk in 2005.  I'm willing to bet none of them were contributors here, but there are a-holes everywhere (might even be one or two from SJU!).  I did have a fun time swilling beer from the trunk of Janesville Flash's Cadillac, though, so that made up for it.  ;D
I actually thought Whitewater fans were very nice in 16! Much nicer than the Oshkosh ones were the next week >:(

I have stories about them too. I remember after UWW beat UWO, in Oshkosh during '15 playoffs, I was walking out of the stadium as the UWW team buses were driving up. An elderly UWO fan (probably in his 60's - no joke) set his things down, did an about-face and flipped off (double-birdy style) the UWW buses.

I had no issue with the Oshkosh fans a few years ago when they came to St Paul. Had some nice friendly banter with a few of them. They were feisty and excitable but seemed to understand playoff football in a way that I didn't see with some other fanbases that weren't so accustomed to playing a top team.

The Johnnies that made their way to St Paul for that UST-UW-O game on the other hand...

Seems like fans from other sites are more offended than WIAC fans regarding Eureka's confidence against UWW.

I guess we're used to it considering we've dealt with these posters almost every year since 2005. Fans of opponents, during the first few rounds of the playoffs mostly, often come on here saying things like "Yes, you're good, but UWW hasn't seen (insert offense/defense or a position player here) before!". So far things haven't worked out that well for those teams, with the exception of two OAC teams ;).

I remember Wabash fans coming here saying things like that a couple of different years. I think Albion had a very good running back one year and UWW shut him down. Franklin, for a couple of years, had awesome QBs only to fall (although Franklin fans were always respectful and didn't come here looking for trouble). St. Thomas fans were guilty of it in 2011 (with their star WR) who UWW shut out that night. I remember drunk NCC fans literally swearing in my face when I attended the UWW/NCC game in 2010. I would probably get banned from these boards for life if I reiterated on here what was said to me and my dad that Saturday. Those are just a few off the top of my head that stick out. I'm sure there's probably been more over the years that emma, Badgerwarhawk, bobo or bleed remember.

To sum it up....we've heard it all before and aren't bothered much by it  ;) ;D

Many of us Johnnie fans were guilty of this in 2005. We were 2 years removed from a national championship and UW-WHITEWATER hadn't done anything in many years. We had been beating up big and slow WIAC teams for several years. We were offended that we were traveling to UWW.

I remember Old Pa in particular telling us we were going to lose. I thought he was blow hard, like we'd seen many times over the previous years.

Well, unfortunately for us UWW was big AND fast. Also learned that Justin Beaver was the real deal. We were outplayed in every way. That was a long drive home. On the bright side tailgating was great and I made a new friends in Old Pa (aka Janesville Flash). May he rest in peace.

All that said, I think SJU deserved the 1 seed. I really don't want to go to Whitewater again.

Do you still fire that damn cannon after touchdowns?

not in the playoffs

Thank you!  I could not think of his moniker before he became JF.  I remember him telling me before the game:  "I'll be the old, fat guy that looks like Santa drinking beer from the trunk of a Cadillac."

He was easy to find.

He is missed!

Two worst I experienced were @UWEC homecoming in 2003 when the drunk students were hanging over the fence behind our bench. And @Wartburg in the playoffs in 2003, students in the dorm behind the visiting side were bad, but no one was worse than the stuff Willis and a few Wart coaches were saying to us on the field  :o ::)

Duff is right though, every fan base has them.

Thankfully I've never witnessed witnessed at a d3 game what I saw at arrowhead a few years back, when a woman got punched in the face by Raiders Black Hole fans. That took the cake. And confirmed I'd never take my kids to an NFL game until they were much older!

Am I the one that's perceived to be offended in this conversation? Because I can assure you that I am far from it and trying to play along with the banter.

I don't see anyone including the Eureka fan calling for Eureka to win. The debate is on how much the Eureka running game will get shut down.

I don't see a Eureka fan calling for a win either. That's not what I said.

Just saying comments like these...

QuoteThis team belongs.  Offense brings the number one total yard rusher and touchdown leader (40) in D-III, Le'Anthony Reasnover.  Defense will have its hands full, but will come ready to fight.

....are a dime a dozen.

and it was many non-WIAC posters that jumped down his throat.

Got ya. I didn't interpret any of it as jumping down his throat, but I've got no team to cheer for on Saturday, so I'll enjoy whatever banter I can get my hands on.

At least you're honest.  :)

To a fault. I'm not sure what result I'm hoping for more. To see Reasnover get absolutely shutdown on Saturday because that's what happens to good backs with meh o-lines in D4 conferences OR to see him light you up for yardage (while still losing) and leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling (while sitting on my couch, of course) that our 2017 defense was better than the 2018 UW-W defense. Participation trophies and what not.

The thing that the 27 for 41 performance impressed on me more than anything was that Eureka was going to stick to their game, even in a blowout loss. I respect that and it kept that game moving.

Sometimes all you got... is all you got. I have a friend who was a D3 RB at a smaller school. He said he once had 32 carries in a game — for 25 yards. Kept getting the ball because it was more effective than their passing game.

Worst I ever experienced as a player was at Trinity in 2002.  Those fans were pricks.  I specifically remember an obscene sign targeting Gagliardi.

Seems like two separate conversations.
Stories of fans behaving badly and whether ecred posted something that would enbundle undies.
Lots of stories on goofy fans.

All ecred said is his team belongs and they have the leading rusher in D3. I don't think he said "UWW hasn't seen a running back like Reasnover".
It reminds me of the old OAC board and how quick some used to be saying the same thing. One of their posters owned the ol "wait for it...Mt. hasn't seen a team like ..."

The guy said Eureka has the leading rusher in D3- why would that be contentious?
Let the guy have his hopes man.

emma17

For the record I'm all for the banter and think the exchange between EurekaMan and Jamto was hilarious. I'm only saying he's not the type of poster saying UWW hasn't seen a team like Eureka.

My group's fans behaving badly experiences occurred at NCC and Wheaton. Although I thought the snowballs at NCC were funny.

This story of yours is obviously a bald-faced lie.  Everyone knows UWO fans can not afford "things".

No not those words exactly, but posts similar to that are said here often before UWW playoff games over the years. My point being that UWW fans didn't seem to care about it that much, and it was fans from other boards came on here to talk trash to him.

If he wants to talk about his running, that's fine with me....I won't criticize him. I'll just wait till Saturday and see how good he actually is. History suggests a reality check is coming.
