UWW will need to bring their defensive speed game vs. Bethel- they have some guys that can run.

No, UWW should revert to the cliche of Big, Slow WIAC schools with archaic offenses. We would appreciate if you forgot everything you learned circa 2000-2005 about the lethal combo of size and speed. We are more than ok with you deciding to become big, clodding neanderthals.  8-) ;D

Sorry Haz but the cat's out of the bag. That #25 is fast. NCC is typically a pretty fast team. I forget the receiver numbers but they can run too. I was initially thinking Bethel would model the old WIAC cliche of big and slow, but not this year.
Should be a heck of a game.

No Kumerow tonight as the Pack went w a defensive player. That summer sault into the end zone was about the costliest celebration penalty in history.

Rare win where we can say UWW's offense won the game for them. Defense probably played their worst game of the year (relatively speaking of course). They certainly made some big plays, but the defense Had trouble getting off the field a handful of times. If this was against a top tiered team, it would be excusable, but it was against a team that's not known for their high powered offense. Yesterday, If I said SNC would come into The Perk and put up 21 on this defense, you would think I was crazy. Considering we shutout UWO.

Offensely we couldn't be stopped. This was probably the best our offensive line has looked, and it was against a team that takes pride in its defense. 2 games in a row now where we had multiple running backs get over 100 yards on the ground. Good to see Kumerow get in the action. Was Wiz nursing something?  there were large chunks of the 2nd quarter where he was just standing on the sideline. The game was close then and our biggest playmaker was on the sideline for the entire drive where UWW scored to close out the half....I thought that was odd.

Next week Bethel will probably be the best team we've seen all season. But I guess that's not surprising at this stage in the playoffs.

Says something about the UWW WR corps that Wisniewski can take series off, the standard for Kumerow is "getting in the action", and 3rd stringers are making key plays while the game is still in doubt (Gould). Imagine next year when y'all get a QB who can throw 😀

So the WIAC player of the year can't throw?

This thing needs a sarcasm font. You may remember some preseason speculation from the faithful that Wilber was perhaps not up to the task.

A couple observations we had from the game:
Huge crowd for UNC, very loud, especially in the 1st half when they keep making incredible completions. That QB made some ridiculous plays, especially the 1st TD while running for his life.

We didn't know what was going on there at the end when Bullis was yelling at the refs, the whole crowd went quiet trying to hear it. Bullis made some big gesture and the SNC crowd all seemed to laugh at him or something, that's when our #11 pointed at the scoreboard and got that penalty. We all thought that was a late hit out of bounds and could not believe no foul was called on it.

1st half UWW caught some killer penalties that were drive killers, the pass interference was pretty weak. Cut block that was actually two different players. Unfortunate calls. Seemed to clean up in the 2nd half.

After halftime, the Warhawks came out and made some statements pretty quickly. Pretty much knocked UNC on their backs. Much more life in them and emotion, they came out ready to play after half.

The stats for the triple option attack didn't look right with SNC only getting about 80 yards for the game rushing, (many tackles for losses) and over 200 passing. Big credit to their QB, he was shooting lasers out there on guys that were generally well covered.

If the Warhawks play like they did in the 2nd half last week against Bethel, its going to be quite a game indeed.  Interesting Wildcat formations by the Hawks early in the game, maybe testing their defense out as that formation just killed Eureka.

Thanks for the summary. From the view on the tv it looked like SNC had the deep ball covered well- did you happen to notice UWW receivers getting open deep?

How'd you like Cole's option play left? A play I hope he only runs again in a turkey bowl game w buddies.

What the UWW rundown on key players. I know your D is legit, with an elite DE. Your Oline mean and big and sound. Your QB can play, but I'm light on details and who to keep an eye out for.

On Bethel's side, here's my overview:

Offense:
* Tough Oline. Physical, with a little meanstreak.
* RB Gilach is a good runner with a nice top end. If he gets to the second level he can break a long run.
* QB Roste is a load, and faster than people think. He's not elusive, but he can outrun a secondary when there's a hole. Underestimated passer. When he's on in the passing game the offense is really dangerous (e.g. last week vs. NCC).
* Receiving corps has good speed. #6, #3, #14 can all go the distance on any catch. Willing blockers on the outside. #82 at TE is a nice possession option and solid blocker.

Defense:
* Front 7 is really good. They mix up the looks a lot out of their 4 - 2- 5 alignment.
* DE Kilgore (#31) is relentless and has a nose for making a crucial play in the biggest moments.
* Secondary is long, fast, and physical. #7 Dawson Brown is a guy who does it all and is special, but all 5 can play. They work together great as a unit.

It was an odd moment. I was on the SNC side then (not a statement of allegiance -- the best way to watch a football game you really want to see at the Perk, IMO, is to walk the upper rail on the visitor side, and position yourself at the LOS for every play). It was quiet, except for Bullis, who had the volume turned up to 11. It seemed he wasn't so much yelling at the refs, but at the SNC players and sideline and since there's no track to separate fans from players, by association, the whole visiting side. Nobody seemed to get too uppity about anything during handshakes, though. I thought it was a clean, hard-hitting game overall.

Is the live video archived? I'd like to see the play that set him off. From my vantage point, I couldn't see much.

On the Midwest Conference board I believe we were discussing the size of SNC and how they matched up to UWW. With that still in mind, check out the D3Football podcast photo. The caption below it read:

UW-Whitewater's Ryan Wisniewski stiff-arms a smaller St. Norbert player. (Photo by Steve Frommell, d3photography.com)

Kind of made me chuckle a little. The photo - along with the caption - reminds of that scene from Space Balls when Dark Helmet is trying to get at Lone Starr but he can't reach him.

Maybe it's my iPhone, but I'm not seeing an imbed image. Just an empty box

Wow, my first image!!   Oz, was the markup you added just the brackets and img at the beginning and the brackets, slash img at the end?

Thank you Oz! Now I really want the Johnnies to win this week!  ;)

OzJohnnie

That's correct.  The img tags embedded the image.

Now I'll tell you something that will have you supporting the Johnnies clear to the Stagg.  If you click the "Preview" button instead of the "Post" button at the bottom of the page you'll be taken to an editing page that shows you all the tags you can insert into a post.  Superscripts, colors, moving text, bullet points.  The works.  Even the italicised text I used above.

And to seal your support for the Johnnies to win the whole shebang, if you click the mouse image with the red brackets around it then you can apply almost all the formatting options without even remembering the tags you need to type.

Thanks Oz, I have cut and paste your post. I will mess around with it. OK, I am now all over the Johnnies with full support (including obnoxious posts on their behalf) in any game they don't play UW-W.  To make up for the fact that I won't swing my support to the Johnnies when they play my beloved Warhawks, I'll make this offer.  If the Johnnies and Warhawks both win Saturday and the Johnnies come to the Perk and beat UW-W in the semi's, I will change my posting name from Bleedpurple to BleedJohnnieRed for one year. (I don't know if Pat allows something like that, but pending his permission)
