WIAC Fans

Good luck as we begin the 2019 football season. As the conference where everyone generally beats up on everyone else, you guys will be fun to watch and follow. Play hard. GO WIAC.  ;D

Attention WIAC fans

I must apologize for my earlier post above. It has been misinterpreted because of my poor wording.
I didn't mean to imply that the WIAC schools beat everyone else in the country, although I think it has happened.
Let me try again. As the conference where, over the years, each of the WIAC schools beats the other WIAC schools, you guys will be fun to watch and follow.
Is that better? If not, my signature below may explain my difficulty.
In any case, GO WIAC!  :-[  ;)  ;D

No apology needed, I interpreted your original post as you intended it. Seems to me a reader would have to make an effort to claim you meant the WIAC "beats everyone in the country".

I've got two lock wins (UWW and UWO), two lock losses (Stout, UWSP) and four coin flips. ETBU chucked a 3-touchdown lead last year before falling to UWP, and I don't see UWP as a better team this year than last year's Pio squad. Loras had four losses within a score last year — IMO, the UWEC game will be a battle. Cobber-LaCrosse... C-M was 5-5 but they play a meat-grinder schedule. Their 5-5 was equal to UWL's 7-3, IMO.

I'd lean UWRF vs M-M, too. That's actually closer to lock territory than the others, the more I think about it. M-M just isn't good.

I think Dubuque will put up a battle for a half or so before getting worn down. Same with Carthage. UWO is just plain better this year than 2018 version.

But so much unknown. All you got to go on is last year, some recruiting hype and gossip with varying degrees of foundation. Only thing I'm a million percent confident in is that UWW gonna be a beast.

1 million is a lotta percent, you're posting like Bleed now.
I like your take on UWL and the Cobbers. It seems this should be a great game between conference contenders.
UWP always concerns me when it comes to D.

Yep, he calls it like he sees it. Four days until the dominance begins!

Brad

College Football season is back and so am I! Here are my predictions for the week.

Point vs JC= I don't see this one being close. Point is the one team that I can not figure out which direction they are going. I see JC winning this one 38-7
UWEC vs Loras= I am excited to see what this new offense looks like for UWEC. They do not have a QB on roster over a sophomore. I have seen Loras play and that is a tough one. I think Loras wins 24-20.
UWRF vs Morris= Morris is no good. UWRF was not great last year and won 41-0. I see more of the same here with returning most of everyone UWRF wins 48-7.
Pville vs East Texas B= I do not know much about ETB but they can score the ball. Coming to Wisconsin is tough. I think Pville gets this one 42-38
Stout vs St John's= I am curious on this game. I think Stout is much improved. I just do not think they can knock off St. Johns. St. Johns should be in the convo to win the whole damn thing this year. That QB is incredible. St. Johns win 35-3
Whitewater vs Dubq= I do not think this will be a game. Whitewater is a machine. Whitewater wins 45-14
Oshkosh vs Carthage= Oshkosh will figure it out this year. I think Whitewater vs Oshkosh for all the marbles this year. Oshkosh starts this right 31-14.
Game of the week. UWL vs Concorida- This is the game I am going too. I am excited to see how Mike Schmidt handles running the offense. I am also interested to see how UWL handles the option attack. I think Concorida gets them 24-17.

I have the WIAC as 3-5 for opening weekend with the possibility of getting to 5-3 with UWL and UWEC winnings.

WW

Brad, do you know who won UWL's starting QB job? I like that game too, but it's the wrong side of the state for me.

I'm on board with most of this. Loras can play better than their 2018 record suggests, Stout is better (but not better enough for this matchup), UWW is a machine (at least offensively, gotta reserve judgment on their D for now).

I like the pieces UWO has in place but they sure are replacing a lot of beef upfront.

'95 Blugold

I'm curious to see how the Blugolds will look on offense. I will be honest, I didn't think their QB play was all that great last year (very inconsistent) despite having a senior at the helm. New QB and new head coach with his own scheme and play calling on offense and I think we only return 4 starters on offense if I remember right. Our defense will probably have to carry us and they were very solid last year and return 8 starters of last years squad. Even though the head coach changed, I think the staff stayed the same on the defensive side.

Blugolds took care of Loras pretty easily to open the season last year on the road, but I looked them up and they are returning 8 starters on offense and 9 on defense. Good QB play and a very good RB from what I read. Wish I could give a solid prediction, but just too many uncertainties for me with the Blugold offense. I don't think they put up 40+ again like they did last year, but like I said I think the defense will be their strength, so I'll go 24-13 Blugolds.

I'll be making my way up from Rochester for the game so I'll give you my thoughts after the game.

02 Warhawk

I suppose we won't see the Hawk's roster until later in the week? They always seem to be the last D3 team to post theirs.

Under the category of "What do I know?" (not much)

1. I think Point keeps it closer than that. My gut tells me JCU will have more of a "dogfight" than they expect.
2. I think Eau Claire beats Loras. EC won by 32 last year and seem to be on upswing
3.  Agreed, River Falls will have little trouble with Minnesota Morris.
4. Platteville/EBU- Your guess is as good as mine, probably better. I'd like to think the Pio's could put some distance between themselves and the Tigers, but they've got some bouncing back to do. Hunch tells me a Pioneer route.
5. Stout may score a bit more than that, but yeah....
6. I expect UW-W to lay one on Dubuque for a whole bunch of reasons.
7. Agreed. This year, UW-O will be better and Carthage is YOUNG.
8. Unless Concordia has had a real infusion of skilled players on offense, I can't see them beating UW-L.

There's a lot of underlying subplots to this game. I would love a beat down.

I doubt that this is news to many here, but there was an article in this morning's Janesville paper about the Warhawks QB situation. It said that Oles is listed as #1, and probably will be through the year, but that they plan on playing Meylor as well to see how he looks in game conditions.

Anybody know if Meylor is playing basketball at UWW? Looks like he did both at Lindenwood.

The word I heard early on was that Meylor was not playing hoops. Concentrating on football. Both Oles and Meylor have been lights out in camp. In my biased opinion, they are two of the best QB's in the WIAC. Either one is capable of leading us. I am very confident we are going to have great QB play this year.
