@WW
Guessing you were at the game? But from what I saw, Makinen and Berghammer split series equally in first half with Berghammer probably playing better. I know Makinen tweaked his leg first half, but did play one more series before halftime. Came out after half warming up with other QBs. Dont think he had one series after half.
I think the guy you saw with ice on leg and in crutches was #17 WR Steger. Who got hurt first series of second half.
Either way, I think Berghammer will eventually take over the reins.

Makinen started the 2nd half, pretty certain about that. Berghammer made some nice throws. They'll win some games.  I'm just not optimistic about higher-level 2019 UWO prospects

RF 45-7 winners over UMM. Half time score 38-0. Second half played in rain. Falcons played many freshmen and no backfield starters second half.

Carthage has 8 starters back and a new head coach. I wouldn't expect much of a battle for a lower middle of the pack CCIW team.

Like I said, never in doubt!

They've got some scrap to 'em. Didn't like their decision to try for 2 when the PAT could've tied it up with 2+ minutes left. The play call decision was even worse. That RPO didn't work all day, particularly run to the left with a RH QB. I think their best shot at winning would've been to tie it up and force a late UWO fg attempt  ;)

They've also got a sense of humor. Heard from Carthage bench across the field as UWO ran down the clock after the failed 2 pter: "C'mon, Pat, run a play! Make things interesting!"

The Warhawks looked pretty good. Obviously the WW defensive playbook Stan got from Craig Smith didn't help much again. LOL
The Hawks looked good and as an alum I think coach Bullis has this thing going. Hopefully this will be the year they get back to the Stagg Bowl.

Agree, they looked pretty good.  Need a little work on the kicking game (duh), and You could see the passing game found more rhythm as the game went along.  Need the pass game to balance the offense.  Good start, look to see that unfold through the season.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

A very good weekend for the WIAC. Even in loss, the WIAC showed well. Couldn't believe that Stout - St. John's score.

UWW had a nice first game, successes in many areas. Amazingly the three running backs shared the carries nearly evenly- 14, 12 and 12 all scoring at least once.

Both QB's show great ability- seems Oles has a little better handle of the offense and he is a very strong/punishing runner. He showed serious arm strength on a deep ball that Wiz had to lay out for- I'm sure I saw Wiz slow down on the route, likely thinking he was outrunning Oles' arm.

Kumerow made some nice hands catches and the Holte kid from Elgin is starting to remind me of Aaron Rusch with his route running (not yet in same category of greatness). Props to Dubuque as I feel they had pretty darn good defensive backs.

D was swarming- loved the run stopping. Didn't quite see as much pass pressure as years past, but the Dubuque QB is a gamer with a nice touch.

Wow, over 10,000 fans @ WW's Perkins Stadium yesterday. Now that's what I like to see! We need more of that in DIII. ;)

MUC57:

Yes, you can!  The plan would be to a) have double seating-you, know, like at U of Mich Stadium where everyone is crammed together and b) place some low tier bleacher seating at the endzones and c) the rest can stand!  ::) ;)

And, that would pull all those people from the other places they are "milling around" in Alliance that bleedpurple is talking about! It can be done, well...at least for the championship game or one of the playoff games! ;D  What do you think?!!!

The Hawks looked good and as an alum I think coach Bullis has this thing going. Hopefully this will be the year they get back to the Stagg Bowl.

WW defensive playbook-gate continues to be over rated.

From the standpoint of how little it helped UD on the field??  ;D

What's the scoop on UWRF? Not much to glean from their expected beatdown of MN Morris.

Bethel is breaking in some new players on D, but they looked solid week 1. We lost our stud corner mid-way through Saturday to a really gruesome finger injury. I'd be surprised if he could play Saturday, and Tavian is really good.

If Roste is connecting on things in the passing game the offense really rolls. Once he hit his stride against Simpson (who I think is pretty solid this year) the game just broke open.
