With only 3 WIAC games today, they sure showed up big. Highlighted by Eau Claire stopping ST Thomas 21-19! Platteville had a nice win and Stout going to Cali and getting their 1st win of the season. Time for some conference play! Looks like we should have a great game in Whitewater, as they host Eau Claire.

Go Warhawks!

Dang that's right, UWEC coming to UWW next Saturday.
Ok, time to get the game face on.

The defense should be there, however I doubt the offense shows.

Great win for Eau Claire, terrible loss for St. Thomas. Doing their best impression of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the Blugolds lose to St. Norbert (Norbs first win over a WIAC team in 36 years) and then they beat the Tommies in their very next game.

UW-P and Stout did their part today as well.

Is it possible the WIAC is stronger this year than some of us have believed?

With this kind of depth in the conference, while making for some great Saturdays, it might also mean only one WIAC playoff team come November.

First win ever for the Blugolds over St. Thomas since they've started the series back in 2012. Previously lost two close games in 2014 and 2012, both at St. Thomas. Defensive and special teams meltdown cost them in 2012. Combined score from the previous 4 years 200-26 for St. Thomas.

If we had any kind of an offense I'd be a lot more optimistic for the rest of the season. Still, I'm gonna savor this win. Still can't believe it.

Yes, yes, yes!!

Savor it completely! In fact, savor every victory! We wait so long for football season, it seems like we ought to enjoy it when it's here!

I fear too many fans get into such a dissection mode after a victory, they forget to savor it. Then before you know it, the season ends and they wait months to make the same mistake all over again.

A few stats from ST vs UWEC.... 25 first downs to 6 for EC... 511 total yards to 237 for EC... of course the only stat that matters is 21-19, but fwiw

No, Bleed, football is only half of it. I don't have to "wait for months." Obviously, u are not a basketball fan. BB is just around the corner!
WORLD'S OLDEST FALCON FAN.

MESSAGE TO RECRUITS:  IN DOUBT? ENROLL AT STOUT. DON'T CARE? GO TO EAU CLAIRE. AT A LOSS? TRY LACROSSE. FEELIN' OUTTA JOINT? YOUR PLACE IS POINT. DON'T LIKE THE REST? DO WHAT'S BEST!

A few others:

UWEC 1 for 13 in third down conversions. (I don't believe they had a first down in the second half)

130 yards on the three Blugold scoring plays. 137 on the other 47

UST 103 offensive plays, UWEC 50

Turnovers UST 4 (including a INT in the end zone), UWEC 1

Missed FG: UWEC 1 (chip shot that would have sealed the game at the end. UST 2 one of which came after a touchdown was wiped off the board due to an ineligible receiver downfield.

But like you said, the scoreboard is all that matters.

Hmm. Do you feel the "dissecting" fans aren't able to savor the game or that they don't look forward to the very next game as much as the "non-dissecting" fans do?
I'd wager the overwhelming majority of fans, especially those on boards like this, are dissecting fans. One reason especially true for fans on these boards is the intimate familiarity so many have had with the game. Perhaps even through Madden Football. Football and baseball are two sports that really lend themselves to "what would I do" thinking throughout the game. Last night's games (UST v UWEC and Clemson v North Carolina) both had multiple moments requiring quick, game impacting decisions. It's part of the great excitement of the sport- the strategy mixed w the talent of the players.
Imo, if the dissecting aspect of the game was lost, the popularity would be lost as well.
