Should UWW and Wartburg advance, is the game most likely in Iowa?
I assume Wartburg's loss to an undefeated team is better than UWW's loss to a 2 loss team?

Judging by the way the bracket looks, I think it will be played at Whitewater. If you look at all the 4 team pods, it looks to me like the first team in each pod is the highest "seeded/unseeded" team for that pod.

We're still waiting on final regional rankings, but from the way Catanzaro was talking in his interviews yesterday, I think UWW was the #2 West (Redlands, probably, #3).  Wartburg would still be somewhere below Central and certainly below UWW.  So, yeah, UWW should be a host in Round 2 against whoever, but certainly against Wartburg.

Wartburg lost to Central when Central had a loss to Dubuque.  Whitewater beat Dubuque in their season opener.

Hope is the home team so don't they have the better rank over Wartburg?  Based on how the bracket is set up we're the second so we'd should host either Hope or Wartburg shouldn't we?

That's how I read the bracket, but I defer to Wally and the other experts on the boards.

Hey, my friend, we got our teams in the playoffs. Now comes the good stuff. Let's hope for lots of injury-free wins as we work our way thru the bracket.

I was wrong about the undefeated, I forgot they had one loss.

Ultimately, I'm fine with UWW on the road. 2010 was a blast following them. Maybe they can use some time away from The Perk and all its Championship banner stuff, and just go out and play some old time UWW football.

UWW, ranked #2 in the West, should certainly host a second round game against whoever wins the Hope(N3)/Wartburg(W6) game.

Wally,

I think this region would be considered South based on #1 seed UMHB

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Early Wednesday morning, University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire Chancellor James Schmidt confirmed 4-5 students have been suspended from the UWEC football team for their involvement in a snapchat sent out this week.

While discussing the situation, Schmidt said, "I will tell you that the Athletic Director immediately suspended them from the football team, and then pending the rest of the investigation, will determine their future, as to whether or not they will remain on the football team."

Schmidt went on to say, "Unlike the anonymous posting we had earlier this year, this one, we know who the students are."

The exact contents of the snapchat are somewhat unclear, but Schmidt said he was outraged and disgusted when he heard about it.

"Some things might blur a line between what's racist and not racist," Schmidt said. "But, nothing is more racist and really strikes at the heart of terror, for frankly a lot of our faculty and students on campus, than seeing an image of a burning cross and klansmen standing in the background."

I think Wally is referring to UWW's rank in the final Regional Rankings (#2 in the West). UWW will probably get the next home playoff game because they're regionally ranked higher than Hope and Wartburg.

Not to be confused with their "rank" within their bracket's quadrant.

Wally,

It's the UMHB Region.  The NCAA stopped referring to the four corners of this tournament bracket geographically years and years ago because doing so got very confusing.  This year:

- The UMHB region has teams from the South, West, and North regions.
- The Wheaton region has teams from North and West
- The Salisbury region has teams from East and South
- The Mount Union region has teams from the North, East, and South

So which region is West?  Or South?  They aren't easily characterized that way.
