I think in D3 the only thing that matters w the broadcast is the video quality. Can't expect much from the commentating....most part, aren't they just students?

Monmouths broadcasts, the video is zoomed in on the line and you can't see nothing. I was impressed at the quality of UWW's stream.

Watched a lot of the SJU/AU game and they just play the game and you listen to the PA announcer. I thought that was nice. Lots of replays too - love that!

Side bar - is there anything worse than Boogers play by play on MNF? Or is it just me??

On the subject of video and student announcers, I give more slack to the announcers in terms of what they say. I assume these are students studying for film, not all are sports fans, but this is an opportunity.
I absolutely don't get poor video work, like the camera that focuses on the line play and the one that almost never follows the flight of the ball. To me, that's just poor, whether they are in school or not. I imagine, maybe I'm wrong, they have a monitor in front of them from the booth. If that's the case, someone must see that the camera isn't following the flight of the ball.
There must be more to it because it just seems so dang simple.

I think the UWW students do a very good job with video, and the overall production.

Maybe its the difference between a student operated camera and a remotely operated camera.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

I was watching my Rolling Meadows Mustangs in the IHSA semi-finals get hammered by a Nazareth team that looked like a college squad, so I missed the Titans game. I am at a loss for how this program loses two playoff games after having big leads in both. I don't really know what to think. I wouldn't trade Coach Cerroni and his staff for anybody, so I will just live with it and be proud of what this team did this season. I didn't think this team would contend for a National title, so I'm happy with a conference title and some playoff experience for this young squad. Now I just have to figure out what I think about these parochial high schools that can recruit players and give scholarships.

I made the mistake of watching the entire UWW game. Is there any more annoying game announcers or pre-game/halftime crew as on UWWTV? I thought I heard of every stupid thing a human could say on a football broadcast until yesterday happened. They topped even themselves in ignorant opinions.

So you're saying you didn't enjoy it?   ;D

There is a reason that they don't broadcast the audio, though I am not sure what it is.

Since it's an NCAA tournament game and Turner owns the broadcast rights they can't put another commercial audio broadcast on the video.

I watched the Blugold game against them earlier in the year and it was brutal. One is almost better just watching it without the sound.

That Meadows' loss was a tough one. I watched the first few minutes and Nazareth was so fast they appeared only as a blur on my monitor.
Two parochial schools will battle it out for the 7A title.

This is an epidemic across the D3 web broadcasting spectrum.  Lot of broadcasts across the country this fall thought the max zoom on the LOS was either optimal or revolutionary and it is neither.  I know a lot (most, probably) of the broadcasts we get to enjoy for free across D3 are fully student-produced, but I hope there's some mentorship in the offseason that preaches "less is more" to the student production teams.

For what it's worth, that crew definitely improved over the course of the season. However, I did not listen to any of the Monmouth game.

Speaking of 7A, I see my Willowbrook Warriors made it to the semi's. No way were they that good when I was there. I think I saw one playoff game in the 4 years I attended.

It wasn't just the student broadcasts. UST's video work of the Bethel game was zoomed in to just show the play in the trenches. No ability to see routes or a play develop. It'd be nice to see it improve across the board, but we also aren't that far removed from no games being available online, so I don't want to complain to loudly.
