Please forgive me this dumb question...Why is he transferring?  I thought he was the starter, at least the last few games?  And...will he really have a chance at Maryland in your opinions?  Just curious. Thanks.

He said he wanted to play at a higher level. He was the starter all season. He set records vs lower-tier WIAC teams (9 TDs, 591 yds vs RF) and had a few dogs as well (6 picks vs Platteville). Will he have a chance at Maryland? From what I can tell they don't have an experienced QB on the roster. And they're bad overall, so it looks like place full of opportunity. On the other hand, he's facing a redshirt season. He'd almost be better off if he could compete this season, when there's a vacuum at QB. It's not clear if he got a scholarship offer or a PWO. He'd sure have a better shot if he had a skolly.

So as they say in poker, he's got a chip and a chair. He's a good player, and he can sure sling it. But from what little I saw of Maryland, they didn't seem to be a pro style offense, which would be the right fit for this kid. Never saw his wheels, not sure if he has any or not.

Good luck to him. When he said higher level, I sure didn't expect it to be Big Ten.

I give him credit for pursuing a dream. He's been successful at all levels so far. I'd imagine he's encouraged/emboldened by the success of his high school teammate, Jack Sanborn, a starting LB at UW Madison.

On another note, I'm becoming convinced we won't see D3 football this year.  :(

Maryland was 3-9 last year and 1-8 in the Big Ten.
As above, he has to sit out one academic year. He is eligible to try to earn a scholarship the following year.
Maryland has 2 scholarship QBs on its roster.
He passed for 2,804 yards and 28 TDs (12 INTs) last season, but 591 of those yards along with 9 TDs came in one game vs. River Falls.
Lewandowski told a local paper that covers his HS team that he heard from schools at every level including multiple FCS and FBS programs. He stated "I can just tell (Head Coach Locksley) knows how to run a good program," and "I feel like it's the best opportunity and best situation."

The topic is controversial I understand and reasonable people can have polar opposite views.
From an impact on the individual it strikes me as odd that some are concerned w football players contracting the virus- but it's ok to ram full speed into each other 70 times a game.

I know, football injuries aren't contagious. We do know who the vulnerable are.

And now Taulia Tagovailoa has transferred to Maryland. Not a good fortune for Evan Lewandowski.

That's unfortunate to hear. I can't believe the article on ESPN did not mention Lewandowski  ;) Did they forget that a commit holds some NCAA records?
