Grinnell has cancelled fall sports. Not a direct affect on WIAC scheduling, but it's a domino. More are gonna fall.

Finally, they've made a decision, as relayed to me from a friend in Canada:

The NCAA has announced that college football games this Fall will be
restricted to schools located in states with a low incidence of CoVid-19
cases and deaths.  The  states meeting this standard are Alaska, Hawaii,
Idaho, Maine, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota,
Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.  The Associated Press has released
its revised pre-season rankings which have West Virginia at number one.
The Mountaineers were just 5 and 7 last year but they are the only
eligible school from a Power Five conference.  The North Dakota State
Bison and Boise State Broncos also received first place votes.  The new
Top Ten for the 2020 season is as follows:

1.  West Virginia Mountaineers   5-7

2.  Boise State Broncos 12-2

3.  North Dakota State Bison 16-0

4.  Hawaii Rainbow Warriors 10-5

5.  Montana State Bobcats 11-4

6.  Wyoming Cowboys 8-5

7.  South Dakota State Jackrabbits 8-5

8.  Marshall Thundering Herd  8-5

9.  Montana Grizzlies 10-4

10. Dartmouth Big Green 9-1.

Others receiving votes:  Idaho Vandals, New Hampshire Wildcats, North
Dakota Fighting Hawks, Maine Black Bears, South Dakota Coyotes.

The NCAA also made these announcements regarding the upcoming season.
Ohio State University's proposal to create a branch campus in
Burlington, Vermont was rejected.  The application of 38 Clemson players
to enter the transfer portal was denied.  Lou Saban's threat to have
Alabama secede from the Association received a mild reprimand.

Vermillion SD will be the site of this year's national championship game
on January 5th.  The game will be billed as the Dial Soap Anti-bacterial
Hand Sanitizer Bowl.

Dude.... you're not far off. Lots of crazy options under consideration for 20-21.

It's official. Former UW-LaCrosse QB Evan Lewandowski is headed to UW-W.

No idea where he stacks up with all we have, but the dude can sling it!

Thanks for the update. That is not all that surprising, is it,  given all the developments in the QB question at Maryland as many discussed here on the board previously when it was announced he was looking into (or had made arrangements) going to Maryland? I obviously don't know the "inside"readons fir his decision to change, but it might be kind of a strange feeling in a sense for some that he is now going to be playing for a rival school in the conference. Anyway, I wish him the best as he moves forward with his career.

History repeats itself (somewhat). When I was being recruited to UW-O, the Titans had a prolific QB named Dennis Bogacz. When I showed up in the fall, I realized he had transferred to Whitewater. He made the right choice. He won a WSUC title (that is what it was when I played), and I think he's in the Warhawk Hall of Fame.

I don't know when/if the conference rule has changed, but my understanding is a WIAC student-athlete who transfers to another WIAC program has to sit out a year.  So Evan will be joining the team in 2021.

He said on Twitter he has the year off and will have two years of eligibility remaining. Crazy turn of events in the WIAC. Nothing like the best QB in the conference sitting on the bench the next season....on a rival school's team.

Wasn't it rumored he was going D1!?!?

Pat Coleman

Rumored inasmuch as he said on Twitter he was going to the University of Maryland, yes.

Yeah he can. This will be a good season to sit out, presuming there's much of a season out of which to sit. Oles and Meylor each have one season left, correct?

As I stated on 15 May, "Lewandowski will never take 1 snap from center as a QB as a member of the Univ of Maryland football team." I'll be careful not to break my arm patting myself on the back!!  ;D

I would think permanent disfigurement would be on the table by now.  ;)

I mean ... who could have thought such an outlandish prediction would come true ...  ::)

He had a shot at seeing the field until Talia signed. Maryland's qb situation was incredibly muddled before that so lots of people were going to get eyeballs and attention. He would have been in that mix. After... well, Talia is going to get the benefit of the doubt and the best shots, most time, best coaching, etc. Less of a competition, more of a favored son and everyone else. There was still a shot, because there always is until an unproven commodity comes good, but it got pushed way down the possibility chain.

Possible, but a whole lot of dominoes would have had to fall exactly right. He would still be the unknown, non-scholarship D3 guy who they never recruited, and I don't expect Maryland woulda stopped looking for another 3- or 4-star  if they hadn't got Taulia because they felt they already had their next QB. Wait and see, but I'm not sure I'd put a nickel on him ever taking a snap at Whitewater either.
