So my read here is that Meylor is QB1.

Nice to hear Kannon Nesslage has a rocket for an arm, too. Rockets > cannons in my book

Long time reader, first time poster. Live in Northern WI. Love WIAC football. I will have connections at just about every WIAC school. Do not have a favorite team, just love following the league and rooting on Wisconsin Football in the playoffs. Here is how I see week 1 going. Open for discussion

UWP vs ETB- This could be the game of the week in the WIAC. UWP returns a lot on both sides of the ball. They are always good early in the year when the weather is nice. ETB long trip north give me UWP by 14

UWO vs Huntingdon-  I have done some research on huntingdon and think this could be a decent game. They are coming off a 3-1 spring which I think will be a big advantage getting a chance to play. In 2018 UWO beat them 44-14. I think UWO pulls away late with great depth and wins by 21+ but could be a decent game early on.

UWRF vs Elmhurst- Is this the year for the Falcon to get over 500? They return a lot on both sides and some changes on staff. I think UWRF starts 3-0 and will see how they can fair in the WIAC play Falcons by 40. This is the game I will be attending this weekend.

Carthage vs UWW- UWW will win a national title this year. They win this one by 42

UW Stevens Point vs Mayville State- I do not know much about what Stevens Point has this year? Has anyone heard anything out of Point? I was reaching Mayville State and old UWRF DC is the Head coach up there so will have some familiarity. Mayville Played a top 20 NAIA team to a 5 point game last week. I think Mayville edges out point here for no other reason than I do not know anything about what is going on at point.

UW Stout vs Presentation- Second of the NAIA vs WIAC match up. This will not be a game. Presentation might be one of the worst football teams in the country. Stout by 50

Dakota State vs UWL- I am hearing that UWL is loaded with talent and going to make a push. Dakota State beat a good Dakota wesylan team this last week and shut them out. Dakota State beat Point by 17 2 years ago. I see an upset here Dakota State beats UWL by 7. I will be interested to see the D1 transfer QB for UWL

UWEC vs Luther- Reports out of UWEC is that much improved football team with a few decent transfers. I think they will have a much improved year. Excited to check out the new defense. I am hoping the QB play is improved from the past few years. I do not see Luther having the athletes to keep up with UWEC in this game. UWEC by 17

Prediction on finish
UWW
UWO
UWL
UW Stout
UWP
UWEC
UWRF
UW Point

I think Stout is the surprise team of the year and UWP slips up late.

Good pre-opening weekend stuff to chew on here. I'd add...

Who's the D1 QB transfer at LaCrosse??

The only thing I'd bet on in the UWP-ETB game is the over.

UWW might beat Carthage by 42, but I bet it still feels like a game at halftime. Carthage shoulda beat UWO two years ago but for a biffed 2-point conversion at the end. That was a good UWO team, too. Beat UWW that year.

Point returns two guys I like a lot: QB Max Herro and DL Berkley Corvino. I saw Corvino play vs UWO two years ago and thought he was one of the best football players I saw in the WIAC that year. How he was only HM, I don't know. Numbers are light, though, for Point to be WIAC-competitive. Still think they'll be mid-level in the league.

BigMark

I am hearing that South Dakota back up qb transfer in to UWL and has won the job. No roster up for UWL yet so can not confirm or deny.

Welcome to the boards BigMark- very glad to have you and your insight. You and WW bring interesting league knowledge and perspective.

I think your review of UWP (first game and season) is right on.

I'll have to go w UWW winning by 18, tighter at half like WW said.

So my read here is that Meylor is QB1.

I have not confirmed that with any of the coaches, but I would expect Max to take the first snap of the 2021 season, yes.

He's earned at least that much. I don't know how short of a leash he'll have, but unless Lewandowski has been outperforming him significantly in practice, it should be his job right now.

Welcome BigMark! Love the write ups!

Massey sure has a different take on the UW-W game than BigMark or Emma. They've got UW-W favored by only 4 1/2.  And it's not like they don't rank UW-W highly. After the NESCAC teams (A Massey enigma), they have UW-W rated second in the country.  For whatever reason, they have Carthage rated very highly. I'm not saying their wrong, I'm just not sure of the reason.

As long as he doesn't throw an incomplete pass or an interception, he should be fine.

Carthage was picked to finish tied for 6th in the CCIW preseason coaches poll. CCIW's definitely got a couple bullies, but Massey's just off on this one. If I can find a book running that line I might need a HELOC

Or take a delay of game. Or throw to the wrong receiver. Or let his shirt come untucked.

Interesting dynamic there. Can't imagine Lewandowski left LaCrosse (or ostensibly, Maryland) to be a backup.

I am going to make a bold prediction, but this will be the best Whitewater team we have seen in over a decade. 5 classes, with a loaded transfer group, I think a fair line would be 21.5 and I would still think Whitewater gets that one. I am interested to see if they get back to pounding the ball and put a fullback back in the game. I just do not think anyone will push the Warhawks. We will see but I just see them coming out of the year and a half break with their hair on fire

USee

Carthage doesn't have any proven skill kids. No QB, WR's or RB's with experience. Doesn't mean they aren't talented. They return a lot of players who have been in the program since 2019 (3rd most in the league) and i think 4 of their OL, 3 of their DL and 2 corners and a nickel back are all returning starters from 2019. My guess is they will be tough to score on initially but wont' be able to score much themselves and UWW will pull away when their offense gets untracked in second half.

I don't think this is that bold, to be honest. They were on the cusp of something in 2019, and I think most folks expected them to be favored in 2020. Bringing everyone back that they do and including everyone who has transferred in should be really fun to watch.

Am I that off in thinking that Bullis is going to let Meylor play for awhile? I mean, he stuck with Cole Wilber for almost the entirety of a season...

But yea, I agree that Lewandowski didn't come here to be a backup. And if he's as good as his sophomore numbers at LAX say he is, I want him on the field ASAP.
