The Jaguars have two DIII players now.  Platteville TE Dan Arnold has joined Johnnie Ben Bartch at the club.  The Jags TE situation sucks harder than the vacuum of space so there's a good chance that Arnold gets playing time straight away.
Quinn Meinerz  played most of the second half at guard for the Broncos yesterday!  :)

Thanks for the heads up 57. I'm trying to find out when the NFL channel will show the replay. For some reason my cable provider doesn't show the team names in the guide for the reply games.

Looks like he may start against the Ravens on Sunday. Good luck.

It does! Sounds like he's turning heads in the Mile High City

Great stuff BigMark.
I haven't seen much of any WIAC games this year so I'm flying blind a bit. UWL by 17 seems high to me given the offensive numbers from UWRF. By the way, I noticed a Borgerding on UWRF defense- related to the UW Stout QB?

I'd like to see UWO really handle UWP- I'm a bit tired of that Pioneer offense that feels out of place in the WIAC.

Yes they are brothers. I believe Borgerding came in as a QB to UWRF but decided he would be better on defense? He was a good player in high school. Got to watch him in the playoffs.

Great article including the embedded article w video clips of Quinn.
This post isn't relevant anything we've been talking about, it's just me spilling my thoughts on Quinn (and maybe this applies to Baartch as I watched him play pretty well last night).
It's always confounding to me when writers make any negative comments about Quinn. I forget the Denver based writer but he was anything but a Quinn fan during the preseason- even stating the pro game was too fast for him. I don't know Quinn personally but I root for him as fellow Warhawk. I recorded Denver's three preseason games and watched every play he was in. I fully acknowledge I'm not an expert when it comes to perfect Oline technique, but I certainly know who wins and loses the one on one battles at the line of scrimmage- and it's easy to see whether the game is too fast for Quinn. Quinn had a great camp according to these non expert eyes. He buried some people and I also saw some of the starters get manhandled. Heck, in one of the video clips from the last game, starting tackle Bobbie Massey (former Bear) got tossed into the running back like a plastic doll-which wiped out the hole that Quinn created w a great block. I've yet to see Quinn get tossed around like a mere bag of shells.
These guys can play football- period. And some of these writers are a bit overly concerned w the level of football played in college.

Arnold and Bartch both got a lot of playing time and did well for the DIII Jags in a close loss.  Arnold took 18 snaps and was Trevor Lawrence's number 2 target.

I reckon both get the start next week.  I wonder if there has been another NFL team with two DIII starters (if they get the call).

With as many starts as UW-W's Matt Turk, UMHB's Jerrell Freeman, and Coe College's Fred Jackson made, I'd like to think some D-IIIer  started with them in one of their games somewhere along the line! Point well taken though, this is rare air! Go Jags! Go Broncos! Go Bills! (Am I missing any?)

The Raiders have a pair and until Arnold was traded to Jacksonville, the Panthers had a pair.  Now the Jags (may) have a pair of starters.  Those are just active combos.  Not as rare as I thought.

Cool! As MUC57 would say GO EVERYBODY with a a D-III player!

Whitewater with an easy time with Stout 37-6. Don't believe the D3Football.com scoreboard, it was 37-6.

The game was essentially over after the initial possession of the game that resulted in a UWW recovery of a fumbled snap as  the Stout punter attempted his kick from the endzone. The Warhawks took over around the 2 yard line, Alex Peete scored on the first play. And that was all she wrote for the Blue Devils. Stout scored on a long TD pass on the UWW backups late in the 4th, only to have the XP sail wide of the goal posts for a miss. The Stout kicker also missed wide on 2 short field goal attempts.

'95 Blugold

Watched most of the first half and listened to the second half of the Eau Claire - Steven's Point game. Blugolds capitalized in 2 short field possessions obtained via turnovers to come away with a 25-15 win. General observation is a lot of offensive ineptitude on both sides of the ball. Seemed like the best plays for Point came on when the QB scrambled and picked up rushing yards. Belot never really got it going for the Blugolds, though he did put up 95 yards on 23 carries. Nice impact in the passing game with a nice 26 yard TD catch. One interesting note is SO. QB Harry Roubidoux replaced SR. Jonathan Malueg in the first quarter and I don't think it was injury related. Initial impression is the passing game seems to open up a bit more with Roubidoux.

Blugolds finally return home next week after 3 road games and a bye week to take on Stout. I should be in attendance.

Couldn't watch the game, but judging by the stats Max had an extremely efficient day. 14-17 throwing w/ 3 TDs. Fantastic!! It appears they tried to get Peete going with 18 carries but didn't have much running room...only 69 yards (3.8 per carry), Long of just 10 yards. Still waiting for Peete's breakout game this year.

Great job on defense holding Graham to just 35 yards, under 3 per carry. Outstanding job shutting down a very good back.

Stout will be a load for the Blugolds. Whitewater made them look pedestrian, especially as they tried to finish drives.  But they are a good, physical football team with very good weapons. Good win Hawks! On to preparing for UW-Platteville!

UW-W's four opponents over the 12 games they didn't play Whitewater are 11-1 and averaging 38.6 points per game.

Whitewater has held them to ZERO first half points and seven points TOTAL (not average) over the first three quarters combined.

I think the Warhawk defense is pretty good this year.

Week 1 WIAC Preview

UWEC vs Point- Right off the bat the game that I just talked about. I think UWEC gets this one by 3 in a close one. This is a coin flip of a game

UWRF vs UWL- UWRF at home in one of the biggest games in Coach Matt Walker career. UWRF has a great offense, but I just do not think they have seen a legit defense yet. UWL takes this one by 17

UWO vs UWP- I think UWP makes this an interesting game for a half. The ground game will wear on UWP over the second half and the Titans come up with the win by 11 in what I think is the game of the week in the WIAC.

UW- Stout vs UWW- I think the world of Whitewater this year, I also have a soft spot in my heart for this Stout team. My heart says Stout close but deep down I know that UWW is going to win this game by 21 or so. I am hoping Stout can keep it close and get out healthy so they can push the rest of the league.

Looking forward to hearing what everyone has to say. WIAC Football in October with fans back in the seats! It does not get any better!!!

My overview after watching a few different games this weekend.

UWW is very good. Everyone on here knows how high I have been on Stout all year. They have WEAPONS on offense and should have been shut out. Stout on rushes for 50 yards on 22 carries. Meylor was efficient again on 14-17 throwing with 3 touchdowns. Ryan Wisniewski is still really good at football with two touchdowns.

UWRF vs UWL- UWL is really good and I am not sure UWRF is all that good. UWL was going in to score late in the half to make it 35-7 and ended up turning it over on the 6 yard line. UWRF must play with temp to snap the ball 93 times compared to UWL 60 in one game. Not down on the Falcons yet but expected a better output offensively yesterday.

UWEC vs Point- Point is in trouble. They are just short play makers. UWEC with only 210 yards of offense is concerning. Did Max Herro get hurt in the game for Point? I think he is a sneaky good QB but see he didnt finish the game.

UWO vs UWP- Don't count UWP out yet. They had chances to win this football game. Both teams get over 400 yards of offense. Did UWO bench Kobe Berghammer?? He threw three touchdowns against Northern Michigan and did not play yesterday? I am a big fan of MacCudden but UWO better get their QB back. UWP throws for 344 and three touchdowns more importantly does not throw a pick. Great WIAC game

I think UWEC had 5 drives start in Point territory so that may have contributed a little to the lack of yardage. Though given the starting field position they started often with, they probably should have put up more than 25 points. It will be interesting to see if Roubidoux is the QB of choice going forward.  If so, I think it helps open up the passing game a bit more than what they have with Malueg in there. And the way defenses will key on Belot and the running game, they will need to find a way to move the ball through the air.
