Must have missed the D3football article from last week. Looks like some things never change:

Death
Taxes
WIAC being the best conference

;) 8-)

No doubt it's a great complement to the strength of the entire conference.
It is even more meaningful if the WIAC produces the national champion. For me, this season has great intrigue due to the success of NCC and Wheaton. Is UWW looked at as the little brother to NCC for now? Even to Wheaton since they beat NCC in 2019 and fared much better against them this year?

Would like to see how NCC rebuilds after losing their top play makers. Yes, they lost their QB last year, but everyone else returned. Whitewater, MHB, Mount (possibly Linfield and St. John's) are the only D3 teams that are proven they can rebuild year after year and still be a national contender. NCC could easily join that group if the next wave of recruits pick up where this era left off. Time will tell starting next year, as I fully expect NCC to return to the Stagg Bowl this year with who they returned from 2019.

Wheaton is a very good team. Yes they faired better than UWW did against NCC, but I think we all can agree H2H is the only way to truly determine who's the "bigger brother". With that being said I'm not putting Wheaton above UWW yet. Looks like most D3 football polls agree with that.

Excellent point on the NCC rebuild once the super-studs are gone.
From a poll standpoint I see UWW isn't Wheaton's lil bro. I wonder from a Wheaton football confidence level though.

We aren't anyone's "lil bro", bruh. And who really cares what the "Wheaton football confidence level" is? They've never beaten us. If they ever do, then let's talk. Until then, all these machinations are in your mind.
While I agree no one is big bro to UWW, the huberis with regards to  "They've never beaten us" doesn't really scare anyone either. How many times have they played Bleed? 1x? Not sure that is statistically relevant. I am pretty sure Wheaton's performance against NCC will give them all the confidence they need against anyone.

That said, I am not sure they are as good this year (right now) as they were in 2019. Their defense is good but ranked 24th or so (2019 they were #1). Their DLine has been dominant at times, but not all the time like 2019. Their DB's are still young and their QB is not playing at the level he was in 2019. The season is still young, but I wouldn't rank Wheaton ahead of UWW right now.

Agree.  The hubristic comment was directed to Emma and his machinations. (If I ever type that sentence again, I give permission for anyone I know to shoot me).  Wasn't intending to instill or imply fear .  Simply responding to the "lil bro" comment. I would fully expect Wheaton to play UW-W without fear. I would also fully expect not one single person in the Wheaton locker room thinks UW-W is their "lil bro".

I think of UWW as SJU's lil' bro.  Sorta like George looks at Lenny in Of Mice and Men.

Bleed I see the term lil bro is troubling you.
Since I initiated it, let me try more description to clarify my opinion.
Prior to UWW getting their brains beaten in by NCC in the national championship, IMO any game between UWW and either NCC or Wheaton, UWW held the advantage in terms of player confidence. Player confidence covers many areas, including executing basic plays well because they don't feel the pressure of playing a purple power. The first punt by Stout is an example of this. There is nothing UWW did, other than be a purple power, that caused the punter to drop a perfect snap, leading to a simple UWW TD on their first play. I see this happen frequently with teams playing Mt Union. Simple, no brainer plays the team probably executes perfectly in practice, become giant and sometimes game-changing mistakes.
If UWW and Wheaton meet up this year, it's my opinion that Wheaton won't have the type of mistakes that come from being the less confident team.
In a game between the two it's likely Wheaton players won't think of UWW as their little bro, but they sure as heck won't think of them as the purple power.

Thanks for clarifying your opinion. My opinion remains the same. I could care less how confident Wheaton is or any other team we play for that matter. Sure some teams make mistakes out of nerves against "Purple Powers."  But the best don't. I'm pretty sure UMHB wasn't intimidated when we rolled in to town and knocked them out of the quarterfinals in 2019. But we still out-gained them by over 200 yards and won handily. NCC executed and played fast right out of the gate and we did not. They got the quick knockout. Hats off to them. Over 60 minutes, they out-gained us by less than 50 yards, but it didn't matter because they started so fast and we started so poorly. Good football wins games. Bad football loses games. I am hoping like crazy we get to play NCC again this year. But we have to play good football for a bunch of weeks to have that opportunity.

I wonder if they measured quality of life. Hopefully the drinking isn't correlated to low quality of life.

emma17

Hard to imagine UWW playing a more complete game (as long as perfection isn't expected).
Great performance by the entire team.

At least half of those counties are very rural and very poor overall.

USee

Maybe they'd be a lot less poor if they didn't spend so much money on beer.

Congratulations to UWL, great victory over UWO.
UWL has a couple running backs and QB that are true grit. The UWL Oline deserves lots of credit too.

I didn't know they won till I saw this post. I think I saw UWO up by 14 at the half.

Hard to see UWW losing a game in the WIAC this year.

BigMark and WW seemed to be on the UWW train pretty early. It will be really interesting to see how it plays out. The greatest challenges lie ahead.
