Huge coaching mistake not to go for 2 after the TD. Almost cost them. Nice win on a nice day at the Perk.

Yeah, into the wind but very makable kick. But fourth and short from the 20, and Peete was getting 2-3 yards a carry no problem. Would love to see them go as well. Oh well. Both sides missed crucial FGs.

Not talking about the field goal try. The PAT - shoulda been a go-for-2.

Gotcha...yeah

You are correct. Force the possibility that, should they score twice, they have to do more than simply convert two PATs to win

Maybe the biggest play of the game was UWL offensive lineman w a false start at UWW 1 yard line- forcing a field goal attempt.

It would be really cherry picking to say that play was any more crucial than the three consecutive plays before that in which the Warhawks stopped the Eagles from the one yard line. But it's pretty unsurprising to see you pick out a "biggest play of the game" that would give UW-W absolutely no credit.

What a season it would be for River Falls if they could knock off Oshkosh Saturday, and I might pick them to do it. Unfortunately for them, I don't see a path to the playoffs at 8-2 with their NC schedule. But hats off to the Falcons, quite a year

WW--It's just good to even be in the conversation at this point in the year! The Isthmus Bowl is most likely the reward for a win at Oshkosh.

I had to google Isthmus Bowl.  Sounds like a cool idea.  Would like to see a similar game between MIAC and American Rivers.

I had the same thought earlier this year. That'd be a fun and logical matchup.

Absolutely!  The Peninsula Bowl! It's a natural!

Congratulations to the UW-Whitewater football players, coaches, and support staff for earning the program's 38th WIAC Championship!  Fantastic accomplishment by a very special group of men and women!

Congratulations also to UW-La Crosse for playing a great game and having a great season. They are playoff worthy to say the least.

Quinn Meinerz had a good game for the Broncos yesterday.  :)

For those who haven't seen it, check this play out.  The only difference is he's not wearing purple! Denver fans will see things they simply aren't used to seeing!

Many kudos to UWW. Pool C is tricky this year but I think UWL finds its way in. Bethel could muck things up with a win over SJU Saturday by forcing SJU to the top of pool C Region 6 candidates, but even then LaCrosse should rise to the top in later rounds once SJU gets a nod. WIAC did very well in SOS (16-4 in D3 NC games) -- that'll help.

I don't think WIAC's NC performance will float another WIAC boat in pool C, however. If SJU beats Bethel, would a 2-loss Bethel team (both losses to SJU) top Region 6? Might be a few rounds before they get their bid as their NC schedule doesn't shine and includes no regional rankers. Winner of UWO-UWRF could eventually get into the discussion as there will likely be no 1-loss runner-ups elsewhere in the region (NWC and SCIAC runner-ups will likely be two-loss teams), but only after two other Region 6ers get their nod. UWO stands the better chance of the two, especially if the NC opponent they beat (7-2 Huntingdon) finds its way into the regionals rankings. UWRF's weak NC schedule is an absolute anchor on their SOS, but they would be buoyed by having a few WIAC RR opponents on their schedule -- and a RR win if they beat Oshkosh.

It's not out of the question, I suppose, that 7-2 UWO gets to the table before Bethel in that scenario -- especially if UWRF enters the RR. Bethel would be 0-2 vs RR opponents; UWO 2-2, with a monster SOS.

More likely the UWRF-UWO winner gets Wheaton or Wash U and butter burgers... not a bad consolation prize. UWO-Wheaton would be big fun.

In other DIII news, The Jags won a game with MIAC and WIAC alums on offense. Arnold had a good game with multiple catches. Bartch was his steady self.

I see it different. In four down territory from the 1, a coaching staff likely has a 4-play plan. Throw the fade on first and if it fails, go mono a mono on the next three plays. Since the last play of the plan didn't happen due to a silly false start, in my mind that mistake absolutely deserves consideration as the biggest play of the game. The perfect deep ball from Meylor to Holte is another for consideration.
