Plenty of time to talk about the brackets, it's only Tuesday.

Back in 2017, when UW-0 had a handful of good years behind them, an argument was being put forth by some posters that UW-0 may have "caught" UW-W as the top program in the WIAC.  Let's take another look:

Since 2017, UW-0 has a conference record of 14-7.

Since 2017, UW-W has a conference record of 20-1 and their conference record since 2005?  106-6.

So UW-0 has lost more conference games in the past three seasons than UW-W has lost since 2005.

Sometimes it's good to reflect on old discussions to see how things pan out.

Waiting for the same claim to be made about UW-La Crosse in the next year or two.

This is an odd post. At the time (2017), there was no question UWO had caught up to UWW. Since 2015, UWO has the same number of Stagg Bowl appearances as UWW.  UWO didn't have the staying power - credit UWW.
As a fan of the conference, I'm happy for UWL's progress (and UWRF).

Dang, not much love for LaCrosse in this room, is there...

Much "love" for UWL, I just don't think they're ready for a team like NCC.
I think a case can be made that there is a multi-year development curve to eventually beating certain teams.

If you think UWL would be a "3-score" dog to NCC, you'd have to put UWW in nearly the same boat. I get what you're saying about a "multi-year development curve" but that often doesn't play to exact form -- or at least there are variances. UWO stung y'all a couple times in that overriding trend of UWW superiority.

I have no doubt that NCC is excellent. But UWL might be the best team NCC has faced this season.

Yea, nothing but shade toward all CCIW teams from WW for the last 6 weeks. A 6 pt loss to UWW does not necessarily translate to beating NCC (nor does it indicate any kind of relative strength/weakness for UWW). The top seeds won't be losing this weekend and I don't think it will be particularly close.

Unlike other UW-W posters, I actually DON'T have much love for La Crosse. But I do respect their 2021 team. I actually think they have a shot to surprise NCC. But as blasphemous as it sounds, I won't be rooting for them against NCC. I want UWW to play NCC again in the worst way.

Bleed,

We share this in common. My hopeful appointment in Janesville will crown the anointed to go after this goal. There is only one other team we'd like to play as much  as NCC. And if we can figure out how to survive the next 3 weeks, we might get that too.

I didn't know Redlands drew so much of your ire!  :)

Nothing signals that fall has set in fully than "X is the best team Y has faced this season" season.

Bleed, I think NCC wants to play Carnegie Mellon in the worst way this weekend and to make a statement regarding the #1 overall seed. If there is anything that the Cardinals have learned from the great UWW and Mount teams is that you can't look past ANYONE this time of the year to potential 3rd or 4th round opponents.  You also can't take your foot off of the necks of your opponents... a lesson the Cardinals learned on 12/4/10; 11/26/11; and 12/14/13.  I don't think that you will find anyone sneaking up on NCC at this point... eyes wide open.  +k on looking forward to a rematch of 2019.

Very true about not looking past ANYONE!  I will forget about NCC and refocus on what's in front of me. I will lock in on the Greenville Panthers like there's no tomorrow.  I will look at every stat, study their video closely, and leave no stone unturned until I discover weaknesses the Panthers didn't even know they had. I will learn the names of their stars and try to learn the name of at least one offensive lineman just for good measure.  I will build up a holy hate for the Panthers to be sure that on game day I have the proper edge.  Wheaton, St. John's, Linfield, and NCC are dead to me. From here on in, I am a Panther-hunter. Period.

I hope it helps.

Laughing my ass off.  You can always take comfort in the fact that you have 2.5 points for your home field advantage at The Perk.  Those points may help you past the Panthers in this weekend's nail-biter.

Two and a half points, schmoo and a half schmoints.  We are going to take dead aim and punch them between the "T" and the "H" on their jerseys (punching them in the mouth would draw a flag, putting in to question one of the greatest motivational lines in football lore) every single play!

My greatest challenge this week is figuring out how to give 110% and stay within myself all at the same time!

Go Warhawks!
Pound the Panthers!

The only way to do that is to take it one play at a time, have a short memory and maintain your composure whatever happens.

Because of the "multi-year development" concept, the transitive scores in this example don't work for me.
UWL knows UWW very well so close games in-conference don't surprise me and they don't necessarily indicate the gap between the two teams. No doubt UWL is getting closer though, much like UWO's run that started in 2011.
I can't put UWW and UWL in the same boat when projecting outcomes vs. NCC. UWW has the advantage of been there, done that. They have the advantage of first hand experience of NCC's dominating performance in 2019, which should eliminate any potential surprises (i.e. speed, physicality, skill). A UWW/NCC rematch will be a much closer affair IMO.
UWL is good and I love the gritty play from their multiple RB's and QB. I believe NCC will surprise UWL.
