Our UWO friend must have that bleed guy mistaken w/ badgerwarhawk. BW is the scoreboard operator.  ;D

BW runs the clock. Very critical role, actually.

On an ironic side note, I failed my tryout as a scoreboard operator. I couldn't figure out how to make the number go negative when posting our opponent's rushing yardage.

That and UWW is 4-0 against playoff teams this year. 5-0 against postseason teams, if you count UWRF (Isthmus Bowl)

I'd love to hear from any UWL folks how they think NCC stacks up against UWW this year. Not that we will meet in the title (long way to go) but always a good measuring stick to know how you compare to the giants.
You win! You always do!

No one took it serious because he's relatively young. I have a friend who played with Pat at Carroll college and was a couple years behind him. So he cant be more than 48 or 49.
Maybe just got burnt out.
Maybe has the desire to coach HS again without the headaches. I know there's a pretty prominent HS opening close to where he came from.
Considering he was an active member of the military in 1984, that puts him at age 55 minimum. With that said, I'd venture to guess he's actually 56, and will be 57 by the time he officially retires in July of 2022. I could be totally wrong, but based on how the State Pension works my numbers would make sense.

Yeah, he's 56

Cerroni said he is leaving on his terms before all the changes happen in Division III football over the next six months.

He references a possible return of redshirting and changes to roster sizes -- I haven't heard any of this. It's highly unlikely that NCAA Division III will go back to allowing the routine redshirt and I don't think NCAA Division III members will vote to limit football rosters because so many Division III schools rely on those young men to fill rosters and dorm rooms and classrooms.

I have no idea if the WIAC might do something with football roster sizes.

Me too. I'm sure a UWL player would feel they could/should have won both games but for self-inflicted wounds. But that's usually the case.

Didn't know much about Cerroni....

... don't know much about the French I took

Any Sam Cooke reference will always get +k.

I'm not a UWL guy but I have seen both teams multiple times this year and I think an NCC/UWW matchup would be very close. Very similar teams. UWW a bit stronger defensively and NCC a bit stronger on offense but both very close. Both teams want to run the ball with physicality and have explosive playmakers at WR/QB. Both teams are built to stop the run and keep from big plays on the back end. UWW has a little more playmaking across the defensive front and I like Ethan Greenfield by a touch over Peete, but this would be an epic matchup fueled by UWW's revenge factor and NCC's desire to join the purple powers as a dynasty. Long way to go to get there though.

UWW has a gauntlet of a bracket to navigate the next two weeks and NCC will have to take care of biz vs RPI before likely hosting UMU (or an intriguing rematch with Muhlenberg).

I love a marching band.  Is UWW's going to be there Saturday?

Those seem like pretty innocuous changes, not something groundbreaking that you'd want to get out ahead of. Seems like an odd reason to leave.

The problem with redshirting for most schools is that most student athletes would probably not opt to stay an additional year for financial reasons. The WIAC and some elite schools are probably the only ones that could really take advantage of the rule I would think.

They will be within the limits set by the NCAA. I don't know what the limits are, but our marching band is but a remnant during the playoffs and they are not allowed on the field.

Fannosaurus Rex

If the band doesn't perform I will miss them, cannon blasts, not so much.

Allowing Redshirting would be a monumental shift in the division. It would be make the advantage to schools with the ability to give large aid packages even wider. And also for schools that cost under say $20k/yr to begin with. I don't see that happening.

The roster cap would also be major, but as Pat pointed out highly unlikely. Tuition dollar bills y'all!

Pat Coleman

Agreed. But the WIAC can do that on its own for conference members and has done so in the past.
