Looks like next week's weather will be nice. Didn't get to watch any of the game since it was requiring a payment, but it sounded like UWW shot themselves in the foot. When they controlled the ball, they were able to move the ball.

The Cru defense was as predicted: young and athletic. They gave up some stuff on the ground and a few good passes. The DLine didn't get a lot of pressure on the QB for most of the game, but they started to do more as the clock rolled into the third quarter.

The offense looked just as good as last year, and that was also expected. Most of our returners are on that side of the ball. The OLine did a pretty good job blocking under a new scheme and offensive playbook.

It should be a good game.

Any feedback from the Warhawk fans? Anyone watch the Crusader game?
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

I watched a few touchdowns of the Cru game. The Cru looks faster than ever with multiple weapons. Miss a tackle and you're in big trouble. Take a bad angle and it's sayonara.

As for UWW- they need a giant leap of improvement on offense from week one to week two. If the D can figure a way to limit the big plays and keep it close, maybe the UWW O can generate enough. The challenge will be for the UWW O to maintain drives to keep UMHB's offense off the field.

The Third Division

hopefully our offense figures their **** out this week. When they did well, they did well. They just didn't do nearly enough of it.

Special teams needs to not drop the ball. And our kicker couldn't even get a 20 something yard fg so he has some practice to do.

While our d line looks insane (they allowed just 11 rushing yards last saturday), kyle king can throw the ball and our d backs are gonna have to work extra hard to defend brandon jordan.
Given our d backs performance last year, I have no doubt they are motivated to improve on that.

Overall, while umhb will have a much better defense to face off, I'm not sure if our offense can learn enough lessons to prevent mistakes come saturday.

Anyone know if UWO even has a football team this season?  ???

Went to pull up Live Stats on Saturday while I was up in the Northwoods and nothing...  Ok, I'll just check Twitter for updates instead!
Again, nothing...  Not a score update, highlight, or final score reported the entire day/night on Saturday.

One would think that the season opener would be the one time you try to garner some excitement for the upcoming season?  Then again, what the heck do I know!

Bummed that Stout didn't play this past weekend but that gets the bye out of the way. Wartburg and Gustavus will be tough games, both away. I would be satisfied with a split then beat up on Crown before WIAC play starts. Boegerding is the best QB in the conference (seriously)

Love my hawks, but the realist in me believes this will go pretty similar to their playoff matchup last year. UWW was loaded last year and still got whooped. this team has a long way to go to be where they were last year. Especially on offense. I'll be shocked if hawks stay within a couple TDs.

Rotten attitude, I know. But probably the truth unfortunately.

I'm expecting we will see a different type of game this year between UWW and The Cru.

I watched both games last week, UWW defensive and offensive fronts are big and explosive. UWW seems to be committed (maybe even more than last year) to pounding the rock. I thought St. Johns defensive front did a great job and they matched up better than I expected.

Primary area of concern as a Cru fan this year is defending that Warhawk run game. We really only have two legit starters back on the D Line (Sante Parker JR & Pete Smith). Also two brand new interior LBs, both are young and fast but haven't filled in yet. Last year we had an elite front seven and this year they are talented but young.. so defending the run game will be a different challenge compared to last seasons game.

The good news (for UMHB) is that as good as the offense was last year it's probably better this year. New OC with a more balanced scheme + almost everyone back from last year..

But long story short I would expect more points in total than the semi-final game last year. Very excited to watch a great game between two D3 monsters

I suspect we'll see you throw to that 6'8" receiver often.

My personal nickname for KJ is "Blur". Has to be the fastest guy in D-III, no?

Hoping we see a more competitive game from the Hawks this week against UMHB than we did last year.  They came into Whitewater on an absolute mission.  Been a while since I played with the band and saw my team lose.  I won't be playing this weekend, but I will be right nearby them (and for those who follow Warhawk Football, our band has a brand new look this year)!

D3fanboy

is UWW still expecting 20k this weekend? I hope so

bleedpurple

Expecting might be strong, but hoping for sure! I do expect a huge crowd and I think we have a great shot at breaking our attendance record which I believe is 17,000 plus, if I'm not mistaken. The weather is supposed to be beautiful, but Wisconsin plays at home, which is never helpful.

At one point he wasn't the fastest guy on the team! But he is crazy fast. If you get a chance to see a clip of his 55 yd reverse TD run watch till the end. The only person running down field with him from the backfield is QB1 kyle king trying to throw a block at the 1. If you go to twitter, you can find a still of the run focused on KJ. Everyone else in the picture is blurry.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.
