UWW special teams...they're special alright. Sure made things interesting. Hopefully they don't cost us a game like they almost did today.

Happy to escape with a win.

Good thing we didn't attempt a punt today.

Seriously?! Wow. Couldn't watch the game, at a family party today. Must have refreshed my phone 400 times on the Live Stats though.

Yep.  Besides an unfortunate pick in the end zone at the end of the first half and our final two short field drives that led to two field goal attempts (one missed and then the game winner), all the rest of our drives for the day were:

80 yard TD drive
74 yard TD drive
67 yard Blocked FG returned for TD
85 yard TD drive
75 yard TD drive
63 yard Made FG

Does anyone know, has any WIAC team given up more points in a conference game than than the 73 the Blugolds allowed Stout today?

We've had a couple of losses by larger margins.  1889 106-0 vs UW, 1900 100-0 vs UW.  One that ties, 1984 73-7, vs Northern Iowa and one pretty close, 1976 70-14, vs Northern Michigan.

Every one of those teams are public schools.  Figures.

I'm sick of their advantages they get.

No probably really nothing in the "modern era" between two conference opponents. We've got Whitewater coming in next week for Homecoming.  I'm guessing the Warhawks put up 40 in the first half.

I'm sure the Warhawks will do their best to keep the score respectable to the Bluegold players, coaches, families & supporters, but still leaving no doubt.

I recall Stevens Point squashing Oshkosh 76-6 around 1993 or so.

Why does EC struggle? Seems like everything is there to get it competitive. Good school in a nice city with a great atmosphere for home games.

I was at that Northern Michigan game.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Yikes.
I was at the Northern Iowa game in the Uni-Dome. Those public school fans were equally brutal as the UNI players.

At least my private school, that was not overpriced in the dark ages when I attended, taught me that ad hominum attacks were logical fallacies. And, avoiding presenting evidence is not a way to answer a question.

Homina, homina yourself. Out of curiosity, is your evidence specific to the rankings this season?

Facilities.  Their band makes the atmosphere fun at Carson Park, but it is owned by the City of Eau Claire and not located on campus.  Also, they have not kept up with some other schools in the conference in investing in their program compared to some of the other schools. I don't know if the administration is committed to an excellent athletic program or not, but my understanding is that they don't put the resources toward it other schools do.
