It wasn't that long ago that we'd have called it a "monkey stomping."   ;)

After EC's first two drives resulted in scores the defense held them to 11 total plays on the next three series.  Then they got the FG and we held them to 14 total plays on their next four possessions before the next score when we were up by three touchdowns.  Meanwhile the offense was putting points on the board.

I've already noted I felt it was less than impressive but I would stop short of calling it embarrassing.   Those things which do not kill you only make you stronger.

You could make an argument for Inconsistent - calling it Embarrassing is a little over the top.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

I think in terms of our defense, inconsistent seems pretty reasonable.  How about, "We were inconsistent defensively".

On offense I think it's just really hard to criticize:

28 First Downs
466 Yards
276 Yards Rushing
45 Points

Maybe it's just a coincidence but the defense took control after the EC offense started huddling between plays.  They went no huddle the first two series and were very efficent.

Not necessarily impressive but I've seen much worse and a W is a W.

Whitewater seems to make it a habit more than any of the top teams of playing down to the level of their opponents year after year. They're 2 and 2 this year. I place much of the blame on the coaching staff in this one. The players didn't look too motivated to be on the field today, especially the defense. They should have an embarrassing bus ride back to WW thinking about how poor they performed today.

Spot on Bobo!  Playing in their 4th road game in 5 games (3rd overnight trip) and coming off three games against Top 10 opponents, with Oshkosh coming up Friday night, how in the world could the Hawks NOT have been Stagg Bowl ready for this one?  To go up there and only outgain the Blugolds by 145 yards, get 10 more first downs, and win by 3 touchdowns is an absolute disgrace.  Hopefully the coaches will have the guys run sprints when they get back to Whitewater.

Warhawk fans just deserve so much better!

I think the defense would admit they could have done better ...you predicted they would give up only 7 points. Gave up some big plays in the first half

Of course the defense could have done better.  There are corrections to make and things to learn from this game for sure.  But there is a very wide margin from "The defense would admit they could have done better" and "They should have an embarrassing bus ride back to WW thinking about how poor they performed today."  Those statements lie in different stratospheres.

There is huge room for improvement for sure.  Defensively, we need to do a much better job of preventing the big play.  I'm confident the coaches will get that fixed.  But, the truth is that Eau Claire made some plays.

I will never be embarrassed or ashamed for a WIAC victory. And I posted the numbers. In spite of the Eau Claire playing well, in spite of giving up some plays, we did win by three TD's on the road.

It's not like the game we played up in River Falls in 2014 against a 2-5 team where they were within 20 yards of total offense of us and we needed to score with 26 seconds left in the game to avoid a loss.  Now THAT was something we just couldn't bounce back from.

Ahh yes, the 2014 UWRF game that certainly showed UWW wasn't the same UWW, spelling certain disaster for the upcoming playoffs.
Sometimes the other guys play a really good game.

I recall many playoff opponents on here referenced that game with the mantra "if you can barely beat UWRF, how do u expect to beat us?" I think I read that line 30 times by Wabash fans leading up to that game.  ::)

Nice article from Parker.
He's a bit over-exuberant w his comment that "this offense looks as good as any national championship team". 140 yards rushing per game is paltry compared to nearly every UWW team in the championship era.

I would say you can make the argument that the passing game is up there some past championship teams. But I don't think we've achieved the same level of success running the ball since Lance (and Kotelnicki) left.

Also, no disrespect to Parker, but I'm curious if he's ever seen a UWW championship team play. He was probably a H.S. freshman or 8th grade the last time UWW won. I couldn't name a single d3 team when I was that age.

BTW - let me ask the question everyone is wondering, who is Parker Olsen?
I'VE REACHED THAT AGE

SHOULDN'T SAY THAT," TO

WHAT HAPPENS."

Love the multiple predictions.
I'm going w UWP, UWL, UWO and the Dub.
I feel UWO may again be the greatest challenge to UWW.

Do you still feel that way after this weekend? I haven't been super impressed by them this year, and honestly, I have little faith in Jennings to coach big games anyway...

Some strange reason I'm kind of confident in this game. which is weird to me. I think UW-0 is the 4th best team in the conference. UWRF scares me more than UW-0.
