What a night, huge record breaking crowd on hand. I've been to many of Whitewater football games, but never have I seen that many cars tailgating before. absolutely insane!! Every parking lot, all the way down to the bookstore, was filled up. Great atmosphere.

Also, that was probably one of the better defensive games UWW had in quite sometime. Absolutely dominating Performance. Their QB was running for his life all day. Offense did good enough to win, but left some points off the board. Lew was off and on all game. Made some good throws and some bad ones. Running game I thought did well today.

Great (cold) night all around. Always nice beating UW-0 and knocking them out of playoff contention.  8-)

Both offenses left a lot to be desired. Wasn't all because of dominating defense - just bad offensive execution. UWW had illegal procedure problems all night, UWO lineman downfield illegally problems - one wiping out TD.

Lew played like he did in mop up duty last year. Many throws were off the mark either high & over the head of the receiver or short. Threw on the run most of the time. Rarely had a clean pocket to operate in. Best catch of the night came by the UWW band member just before halftime on a really wildly thrown Hail Mary attempt off the hand of #3 while running for his life at the same time. Waiting for #10 to play a complete all-around good game since win over UMHB. Beginning to think that game was just a fluke.

Yes bleed it's still a win, so there!!

Must be exhausting being you. Never satisfied, always critical every game. The Hawks quite possibly played the toughest 6 (non playoff) game stretch any team has ever done. Four games against ranked opponents, three in the top 10, including the #1 team in the country at the time. And they came out 5-1. FFS.

This was a very good win against a tough team. enjoy it once in awhile.  ::)

Sorry to disappoint you 02  ::) Despite the stats you recite, this WW team overall (including the FG unit I failed to comment about) just isn't winning the eyeball test with me. I can't believe you haven't been able to see this for yourself & be honest about it.

BTW, it is exhausting being me, I wouldn't recommend it.

Eyeball test for what exactly? Win conference? Win a couple games in the playoffs? Win Stagg Bowl?

Woah!!! UWP is just about to knock off UWRF.

Talk about a team you can't figure out. I suppose they arguably have a harder schedule than UWW, believe it or not.

This conference is crazy

Says the guy who said this during a previous playoff run:

"To paraphrase what you've always said, we don't need style points to get the W (I'm hearing Al Davis in my head), just as long as we win. Survive and advance. Everybody else seems to think it has to be a thing a beauty. They're the ones watching this week. We're playing."

I agree Platteville is a hard team to figure out they lose to Michigan Tech a D2 team get crushed by both #10 Hardin-Simmons and Oshkosh but they have beaten Bethel and now River Falls as well as SP. Didn't see much of today's game wifi kept asking me to re-boot but from what I could see Platteville's defense was a bend not break and the Offense put together a couple of time consuming drives.  It doesn't get any easier for Platteville as WW comes to town next Saturday. What a conference.

Hat tip to TV18/19 for its annual television coverage of the UWL/UWEC game again this year.

Of special note, if anyone is reading this who had anything to do with it: Thanks to the Mayo Clinic for sponsoring TV coverage of the entire halftime performance of the Blugold 475+-member marching band. It has become a source of pride and joy for the U. The participants deserve a round of applause, and thanks, for their working butts off to entertain the fans in the stands during each home game...

Right. Now if the powers that be can put them on the proper side of the field during games so there's enough room for fans of opposing teams to actually have room to sit behind their team, that would be great.

Impressive win for Platteville today.  They lost their starting QB to injury, I believe in the second quarter, and still won the game.  Their defense stayed very disciplined, which is a must if you are going to stop Blaha from shredding you.  Blaha with 37 carries.  That's a bunch for a QB. It was fun to be able to watch the Warhawks next two opponents at the same time today.  Don't know what Platteville's issues have been this year, but they were a good football team today.

They lost their starting QB Priami (#10) in their 1st game. Today was his first game back I hope the injury is not serious but their back up Katcher (#11) who started the season as the 3rd string QB has been doing OK. Platteville is a young team with only a handful of seniors they are still learning to play together.

Don't know for sure why RF lost today, but it looked like Pville played their best, or one of their best games, today. RF played their worst game first half, realized they might get beat, and then played better second half. But it was too late. Don't know whether beating Osh made them relax against  what they thought was a lesser team than Oshkosh.Maybe. But road games are tuff and Pville D was very good, especially first half. Still have not seen anything to make me disbelieve, as Walker said b4 the season, that Blaha is the best offensive player in the league. In case anyone thinks I am slighting Pville, they deserved 2day's win. They are a young team, but so is RF. Hope the loss makes RF better.

Well it was bound to happen.  I mean:

Oshkosh beat Platteville by 39
River Falls beat Oshkosh by 3
So, of course , Platteville beats River Falls by 7.

Is it possible UWRF game planned a bit today thinking of UWW next week. I haven't seen UWRF every game, but I was surprised w the number of QB runs. Were they trying to show something different or that's just the way the game unfolded?

If Blaha tries to run that much against UWW I think he's in trouble.

I was thinking the same thing.  River Falls has played three close games this year ( St.John's, Oshkosh, and Platteville).  In those games, Blaha has 99 carries for 391 yards.  The next highest number of carries in those games are from sophomore running back Michael Krueger:  38 carries for 123 yards.

It seems like if he runs that much against UW-W he's in trouble and if he doesn't UW-RF may be in trouble. Their backs are against the wall.  My guess is he's going to carry it a bunch.

fredfalcon

Emma, Bleed--

Don't think RF was thinking about WW game. That would have required overlooking EC next week. As Bleed notes, Blaha has run 99 times in 3 close games and I don't see that changing because it's been so effective (except yesterday, 1st half). But I worry about injury from the constant pounding.
So far, other runners have not been able to take the load off Blaha. Last year Luke Fugate, rb, averaged 111 yds per carry and Kole Hinrichson, qb, averaged 60. Krueger is a sophomore and so far has not developed into the kind of effective runner he will eventually be, nor have Oeun or Little, backup running backs, been able to shine in close games.
But now, Eau Claire becomes an absolute necessary win if RF is to at least re-gain Isthmus Bowl status.

I just checked the stats and was surprised to see Blaha passed 29 times. For whatever reason I didn't think he threw that many times.
Between his runs and passes, he was intrumental in 66 of 87 offensive plays. Wow.
