If I'm reading things right, I think only Platteville is in full control of their destiny. They win their last 3 and they're pool A.
Even if Whitewater, River Falls, or La Crosse win out they would also need either Platteville to lose (UWW & UWRF) or Whitewater to lose (UWL)

Just curious as to what institutional advantages (enrollment?) UWP might have over UWW.  Also, will UWP acknowledge these advantages?

(Too soon?)

Platteville's enrollment is around 6,000 while WW is over 9,000. Platteville is known for its Engineering, Agriculture and Police Science programs,  WW is known for its Business and Accounting programs. Both are part of the UW System, I don't see any institutional advantages.

Oof.  Tough loss for the Warhawks.  The Johnnies are not alone in inconsistent play in 2022.

Platteville has now beaten Bethel and UWW--congratulations!  Not that I care about polls, but the pollsters have their work cut out for them this week.

Shouldn't be too tough a task. Several teams currently below #3 will probably move up a spot. Only real question is where a 2 loss UWW team should be placed. Chance UWP now appears in the Top 25?
So young hero, ask yourself............................Do you want to go to college, get a good education, and play (basketball)(football), or do you want to go to college, get a good education, and watch (basketball)(football)? 🤔 😏

Don't surround yourself with yourself. 🧍🏼‍♂️(Yes)

New Poll out so we have answers. Whitewater falls to #10. Platteville in at #22.
Previous #4 through #10 all move up one spot.

UWRF loses to UWW next weekend and UWP loses to UWL end of season, we'll have two teams tied for first w UWW having the head to head advantage over UWL, and all will be right again.

Unless I'm missing something (WIAC related).

I don't think you are. And I think these are all pretty reasonable takes.

This upcoming game against UWRF certainly favors whitewater's Jekyll and Hyde routine. We've seen some near flawless football at home this season (MHB and UWO), while not looking at all good on the road (SJU, UWP, Berry, first half of UWEC).

This might not be popular but I think Whitewater needs a new coach. Talent to rival anyone in the country in D3 but wildly inconsistent mixed with getting dominated out of the playoffs year after year.

I am unsure whether it's popular or not, but I've been off the Bullis train for years now. Lacking the discipline we saw back in the Leipold days, and I just think the spotlight has been too bright for him.

Yea, Lance is a significantly better coach, but with the talent UWW has, Bullis should have lucked into a National Championship by now. He's made some suspect hires on his staff, and while he can use Lance-isms all he wants, he was a bad, internal hire to begin with made by someone who probably shouldn't have been the Athletic Director at the time anyway. He jumped from a D-Line coach to a Head Coach of a premier program. That's a hell of a leap. Granted, the five finalists we had for the job weren't terribly impressive to begin with.

Maybe this can all point back to us losing Plinske.

Not being able to play on the road points to coaching and preparation, too.

With the athletes UWW gets year in and year out, we should not be posting these awful losses. (Sure, UWP has shown that some days, they're the best team in the country and some days, they're awful, but this shouldn't have even been a game.)

I agree that it's time for a change. Even if it's "unreasonable" to expect a national championship every year, it's not unreasonable to expect the excellence from the program that we know it's capable of under the right leadership.

I get the frustration about Bullis not having the kind of success that has become UWW standard, but who do you go out and replace him with?

I'd be hard pressed to replace a guy that has been to the Stagg Bowl once, the Semis three other times, and one quarterfinal--especially without a clearly identified successor. You run the risk of turning into a program like Nebraska has at the FBS level, insane expectations to live up in the wake of a coach like Tom Osborne, and the program has been in steady decline since because of impatient boosters and administrators.

Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Exactly what I was going to say Sam...2021, last year we were probably the 2nd best team in the county
2020 - COVID
2019 - Stagg Bowl
2018 - lost in semi's, again maybe the second best team that year

We do look a little down this year, because in truth we probably are, but we have a completely new offensive staff, with a different offensive philosophy, new blocking scheme new way of bring in plays, no huddle...the list gets pretty long and oh by the way 10 new offensive starters and an entirely new offensive line (maybe the hardest position to play after QB)....I mean let that sink in, 5 new starters on the offensive line...I can't find another team in the top 10 that has more than 3.  The dude is probably closer to deserving a raise than he is to be fired.

I can understand the reticence. But this isn't like he hasn't been given time to show he's the guy. Why do we need a clearly identified successor? Why not open the position and see what we can get? You can't tell me there aren't brilliant coordinators out there chomping at the bit to get their chance.

Or maybe we promote a former player who played for Lance, is already the Assistant Head Coach and might have the right vision to get us back to the top?
