Yeah b. w., It must Have been A long ride home.
WORLD'S OLDEST FALCON FAN.

MESSAGE TO RECRUITS:  IN DOUBT? ENROLL AT STOUT. DON'T CARE? GO TO EAU CLAIRE. AT A LOSS? TRY LACROSSE. FEELIN' OUTTA JOINT? YOUR PLACE IS POINT. DON'T LIKE THE REST? DO WHAT'S BEST!

GOT BALLS? PLAY FOR THE FALLS!

A couple good games to look forward to this weekend.
I'm thinking UWW is going to give Stout a big dose of Pound the Rock. Hoping UWW pass defense looks like they did vs. UWO.

UWL gets UWRF. Maybe the Falcons play the first half like they did the second half at UWW.

I hope so. I don't like Lew slinging the ball lately. Run the ball, keep UWS offense off the field and stop throwing it to the other team.

I sure wouldn't mind seeing them "pound the rock" a little more to the outside, granted it I know almost zero about game planning and scouting defenses, it just sure seems successful whenever we do it...and the few times I have seen us run outside it looked improvised by the running back who couldn't find a hole.  Which just reinforces my belief we could be successful if we did more often...heck we probably have the 2 best backs in the conference to run wide with :)
I guess throwing wide receiver screens down the line of scrimmage is a form of running wide, so maybe that's their version of going wide?  I get you can't do everything.

TimmyT- I'm digging your plan. UWW has their own TT, Tamir Thomas, #8 at running back. He seems to have that knack for the big play.

I think with tomorrow likely being an afternoon with a lot of wind and rain, your guys' call to pound the rock will likely come to fruition.  UW-W runs the ball better and defends the run better than Stout. The poor weather should do nothing but help us.  But then again, they don't call this the wacky WIAC for nothing. We've got to go out and take it.  Go Hawks!

UWW game pretty much as Bleed said it would. Play not to lose, keep it simple and conservative, limit mistakes, rely on the defense. We controlled most of that game.

Had to chuckle about Peete's prediction, not sure he's watched the same offense as we have all season.  ;)

We should have the conference title locked up. No reason UWSP should keep next week close.

Agreed 02, the offense played simple and conservative but that IS who this WW offense is. They are not an explosive or consistent unit. They are not the big play offense that most of us have come to expect. Their RB's are not going to rip off a 60 yard gain or outrun a defense; the passing game is pretty much dink and dunk in the flat. Another 2nd half where they do next to nothing on the scoreboard. Suspect play calling is behind much of their struggles. Defense is what's keeping this team alive.

Well I think the play calling isn't really suspect as it was conservative. They knew they weren't going to score on us. So why let Lew sling it in windy conditions? He has issues on a normal day, it's not worth the risk.

I don't know Bobo, I see it different. UWW ran the ball 55 times and threw 22 times today, that's not who they have been statistically. UWW had a conservative plan for UWS today, designed to win the conference- and they accomplished it.
I think Tamir Thomas is more than capable of busting off long runs.

That was my thought.  Tamir can most definitely bust off long runs. We do need to develop more consistency in the passing game, but today was not the day to mess with that. Road game in bad weather against a pesky team.  Take the W and get the heck out of there. Defense continues to be stellar.

After all the wackiness in the WIAC, it doesn't look like the final standings will be shocking:

UW-W Pool A, UW-L Pool C
Platteville a pleasant surprise.  River Falls maybe a bit disappointing, although with a good shot at a winning WIAC record.

We could well have a three way tie for third place. I wonder how the Isthmus Bowl makes it's choice.

I thought the same thing last year when he was mainly running on the perimeter in space in situational duty. His quickness and change of direction made him dangerous to take it home on any touch.

This year, he looks much heavier than his listed weight & hasn't exhibited the break away speed I thought he had. He looks more like a banger who earns his money in A gap runs.

I was under the assumption that the Isthmus Bowl will take the highest team in each conference that does not make the field of 32. Platteville vs. LaX. Platteville wins they would go if LaX wins they would go unless they make the NCAAs. Then you would look at RF vs Stout if Stout wins and Platteville looses Stout would be in based on its win over Platteville. If RF wins Platteville would go based on its win over RF. This is my assumption and I've been wrong before but it will be good having 5 teams playing for something on the Las weekend of the season.

My assumptions are that Oshkosh, La Crosse, and River Falls will win on Saturday.  That will put La Crosse into the NCAA's as a Pool C.  And that leaves Oshkosh, River Falls, and Platteville with 4-3 conference records and all with 1-1 records against one another.  It's that scenario I was wondering about who the Isthmus Bowl would invite.
