Some of the top regional rank team's SOS:

Linfield: 23
NCC: 56
Cortland: 83
Mount: 162

Just saying, having a weak schedule has its advantages come playoff time when the road to the championship has to go thru your team's home field. Don't get me wrong, playing tough teams is fun for the fans and schools involved, But I don't think the risk is worth the reward. I'm sure MHB fans would agree with me. If they didn't come to UWW this year, they would probably have the top spot in their region, instead of 3rd.

Also, I have questions about NCAA's SOS metric, b/c I highly question Linfield only had 22 D3 teams with a tougher schedule. Have they played a ranked team this year?

In my opinion UWP had the toughest SOS, no question:
Bethel
Hardin-Simmons
(Michigan Tech) D2
UWW
UWL
UWO
UWRF
UWS

Huntingdon would kick your team's ass. Especially the first game of the year if you traveled 3,000 miles and played in a humid rainstorm.

Ok then....

I think the biggest flaw with the SOS, if I understand it correctly, and that's a pretty big "IF" is that beating an 8-1 team from a non-powerhouse conference would be considered virtually identical to beating an 8-1 MHB or 8-1 LaCrosse, since the NCAA doesn't rank the teams 8-1 is 8-1.

Bluster.
Long flight to Portland.
And then you get surprised by those defensive\
offensive line size and speed.

Bluster for sure!  Time to rally the troops. The playoffs have already started for us. My role is to take on all comers who try to sow seeds of doubt into our loyal fans.

I'm sure Linfield is a fine team. But we have played St. John's, UMHB, La Crosse, and the rest of our schedule in the best conference in the country. My hats off to you guys if you beat us. But I think if anyone will be facing something different if we play is you guys. Who have you played to get ready for a UW-W or St. John's or a team from Texas?  George Fox?  Maybe you are amazing. I just don't think we have any way of knowing yet.  I really look forward to these playoffs!

That was a good win. I have respect for Huntingdon.   Different style though. I think our brand of Hawks brings a little something different to the table.  Sounds like Linfield fans would like to play UW-W. Works for me.  Let's do it.

Have a feeling we'll be flying out there in the second or third round.

Sounds about right. If it's round three they may have to beat a Texas team first.

timmyturtle

I think 3rd is more likely, (if we make it that far) there's enough other teams in the surrounding 500 mile radius to keep us "near" home for the first 2 rounds.

02- Although I agree UWP had a tough schedule- UWW played the same conference schedule but swap Bethel and Hardin Simmons w St. John's and UMHB- and I'd challenge your "no question" opinion.

Just saying, I see Wartburg as one of the most worrisome potential opponents. 2014 still resonates w me.

You're forgetting one very good conference team they had to play that we didn't, and that's UWW. So that's four teams that are currently in the top 10 they played. We only faced 3 top 10 teams. That doesn't include a scholarship offering program that had to face too.

Plus you make the argument that Bethel is tougher than SJU, b/c of their H2H matchup.
