Heard today from Falcon athletic official that UWRF will play in isthmus Bowl instead of Pville based on the longest time since playing in a D3 playoff. Pville has played in D3 playoff more recently than UWRF.

Interesting Fred...I believe that's the same criteria the WIAC uses to determine the automatic conference qualifier for the tournament in the event of a 3 way tie, so it would make sense to apply it in this situation as well.

I'm sure bowl organizers aren't too thrilled we're about to be headed for a rematch of last years game.

Congratulations to the Warhawks on Conference Championship number 39!  The Hawks set an all-time record for points scored. d

In the route, the Hawks scored 58 points in less than a quarter.  After Point took a 3 point lead with 10:51 left in the first quarter, the Hawks responded with 58 points in the next 14:05 in game minutes, to take a 58-3 lead with 11:46 remaining in the second quarter. I've never seen or heard of anything quite like it.  Great way to end the regular season! On to the playoffs!

Put into a time of possession criteria it is an accomplishment.  But what was even more amazing to me was the number of plays each drive had.  We scored 8 touchdowns on 17 plays from scrimmage.  It got to a point that we were making over/under predictions every series.  At one point they had 12 minutes of possession, we had 3 and were leading by 25 points.

Three rushers with over 100 yards.  Pound the Rock on steriods.

Wow- those stats are mind boggling.
Also:
10.9 yards per carry, on 48 carries!
And I think UWSP had only two turnovers.

Great to see the 2nd and 3rd team guys getting lots of pt.

All things considered, I like the draw UWW got. Love the UWL/SJU potential second round matchup

It's not bad.  North Central got the cupcake bracket.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

I don't know if I have ever rooted for La Crosse, but hard not to when it could mean a 3rd home game.

Yeah, I would be upset if I were SJU. I know anything can happen in round two, but I feel UWW got the better potential second round draw.

Yeah, them and Mount won't be tested until semi's. Usually the case for Mount.

The real short straw is Wartburg. They're an unbeaten conference champ (I know the ARC isn't the MIAC or WIAC), but that's a very quality team that got a brutal path out of the region. But I do agree, UWW got a better draw than SJU. But SJU could play their 3rd string and beat UNWSP by 14+ so they'll at least have a 1st Rd cupcake to get everyone healthy.

Aurora put up 80 points in their last two games vs. St. John's.
UWW will have to keep that offense off the field.

I'm thinking the committee might have been trying to avoid a second round WIAC rematch? I know the "rematch rule" only applies to the first round, but I have to wonder if that played into pairing the UW-L/Wartburg game with the St. John's/ NW game.

Just curious...
How was the WIAC Isthmus Bowl representative selected given the three-way tie for third place among UWO, UWRF, and UWP?  Is a WIAC tie-breaker scheme used, or is it up to the Isthmus Bowl folks?

And congrats to UWRF!

Granted I haven't been paying much to NACC action on my end but AU has the horses on offense to keep defenses thinking a bit. Defensively they are much better than last year but I think it's a tall task for the Spartans here. I think the opening week loss to 6-4 Hope may have dented any chance for a somewhat better matchup but it appears that it was geography that dictated this matchup.

Aurora is a passing freakshow.  A fun team now that we're not playing them and that guy Zimbleman.  They have a guy this year, a junior named Josh Swanson, who I have just looked up in the stats and he's a passing maniac.  11th in yards.  First in DIII with passing 43 TDs.  Has only 8 INTs.  9th in pass attempts.  Averages 14.5 yards per completion.  And despite all those passing yards, not a single receiver is in the top 50 receiving yards.  Lots of targets, apparently.

Heh.  It may be a wild shootout.  Get ready for Bebe's Boys to air it out this weekend.

EDIT:  It's forecast to be below zero, windy and party cloudy in WW this coming Saturday.  Will be a challenge for an air game, you would think.

EDIT II:  It's an offensive embarrassment of riches at Aurora.  They also have a top 10 runner.  A senior named Jhequay Chretin.  10th in total yards and 14th in yards per game at 118.  12th in yards per carry (6.7).  How they manage to feed this guy that much ball when they seem to be slinging it all the time.  Yeah, offense first at Aurora.  No doubt about that.

Oh I know Beebe has been cooking that offense there (they torched my Alma Mater Wisconsin Lutheran 65-17).

Yeeeeeah that weather report makes me happy that I took in the 8-man final up in WI Rapids look balmy by comparison. Like I said if Aurora can keep that offense running despite the weather, WW could possibly sweat it out.

They were also blown out against NCC and Wheaton last year, so I guess we'll see how much that conference tested/prepared them for this Saturday at The Perk.
