I'm an Aurora fan just stopping over from the NACC board to say, What a game! Your Warhawks were a competitive team. Even when I thought it was a wrap and AU had it in the bag late in the second half, your guys came up with big play after big play to keep my nerves on edge. Congrats on a hard fought game!

Congratulations on a well deserved victory.  You guys played great.  I wish you well going forward.

Tough loss for the Warhawks, but they gave us some exciting games this season.
Awesome performance from Aurora in all phases, can't say enough good things about them.

Oh, and Ret- what are those WIAC advantages you are always talking about?

If an isthmus has water on either side, and a bowl has water inside it, where does water go for an isthmus bowl???! ;D ;D

A Warhawk program led by Beebe would something special....

This is not intended to diminish how good and how well Wartburg played as I'm on record saying I feared them.
In defense of UWL- they were without one of their two QB's that share time. Helterbrand is their running QB with good stats as a passer as well. Helterbrand was the second leading rusher on the team w 600 yards and 9 rushing TD's. He also had a higher completion rate than Garcia. UWL wasn't at full strength in a critical position, unfortunately for them.

And so it begins ...

Beebe took over and, aside from the playoffs, Aurora stopped losing. Sometimes, coaching is the difference.

Maybe UWW doesn't have elite talent anymore, but that seems like it's just not the case. But our scheme and preparation is definitely lacking.

I'll let y'all diagnose if UWW's problems are real, systemic, etc. From the cheap seats, you aren't the same program you were 10 years ago, but that was all time elite status. You still seem like one of the best programs year in and year out.

I think this is actually as much or more about Aurora. They've gone toe to toe with multiple Top 10/15 teams the last few years. The breakthrough win felt a little inevitable. And Beebe is clearly a great fit for Aurora, having coached HS in the area, and with more name appeal than about any coach he recruits against. More than that, there's clearly substance in how he's building this.

Aurora is in a fertile recruiting area, they're scheduling good/challenging OOC games, and if they start winning consistently in the post season, Beebe will have that much more ammo to land players.

I also loved his story that the team wanted either Mount or UWW. It's easy to eye roll that, but far too many teams enter the playoffs hoping they'll get an easy draw. That's some great sports psychology to have the team in a mindset that you want the biggest bullies on the block right off the bat. You have the team believing from the jump. And now, having won that game, there's no game in this playoffs they won't totally believe they can win. Still have to prove it on the field, but first part of winning is genuinely believing across the entire team that you belong and you can pull it out.

They were close a couple years ago in Collegeville. He didn't mention St John's. Maybe he wanted to have a chance to win. ;D

hazz, just don't mention that Beebe might have some advantages in recruiting. You'll get savaged.
