Didn't mention North Central either.

I think a more noticeable omission would be Linfield. Both NCC and Wheaton, to a lesser extent, are relatively new to prominence. He was referencing longer term success .Both Linfield and St John's have been in the picture for the long term. Maybe they don't have the number of Championships as UMU and UWW, but they've been "good" for 50 years or more.

Geographically they weren't going to get sent to Linfield.

Sources say Kevin Bullis plans to retire.

Makes sense. I hear his whole family is out in California.

Tough loss if true. Did a pretty good job of filling the shoes of LL. Program is still the class of the WIAC.

Very interesting development. Should be plenty of very good candidates interested.

The last time we hired a coach at UWW the AD we had in place was not the right fit. Let's hope Callahan is a better judge of what's needed to make UWW a title contender again.

Didn't Leopold pick his own successor?

No, KB was named interim and then ended up getting the job. There were other candidates as well. I remember Wabash's coach being a big name who applied back then.

It's possible Lance put a very good word In for Kevin before he left, but I don't think he was a part of the process when he left for Buffalo.

I don't believe so, I remember some Mount guys being finalists for the UWW job.

The Third Division

So now the question remains, do they hire from within or without?

I seriously think previous head coaching experience is needed.

I think that, or at least a coordinator level experience. I think the jump was just too much for Bullis to make.

02 Warhawk, do you know if Bullis said no to going with, or if Lance didn't even ask him to go to Buffalo with him? I've always wondered that.

I'm actually learning this for the first time. The fact he didn't bring bullis along with him to buffalo should have been telling to the selection committee back then.

Oh boy, maybe BadgerWarhawk or bleed can better comment about that. I want to say he was asked but elected not to move his family to Buffalo. But I could be wrong.

That's fair. And maybe no one really knows. But I've always been curious.

I'd think HC experience, or an OC with a sterling record like a Heckendorf from SJU. Heckendorf is from Mosinee, WI, played at NDSU I believe.

It's gonna get top shelf interest. If I was UWW I'd go with a very strong Midwest HC candidate, or an offensive coordinator. That was Bullis' achilles heel IMO, the offense just didn't have the same mojo (or players) of the great UWW teams. It seems much easier to recruit and retain a great DC than it is a great OC. OC's tend to get HC gigs more quickly.
