I was team Raeburn back then. But I'm glad they made the choice they did though with Bullis.

What I want is a list of the candidates that didn't make the top five...

not exactly murder's row of candidates...I think that UWW, coming off insane success, was a little apprehensive to go outside the program.  In house Bullis was the safe choice.  But since that level of success has dropped, still a top 5-10 team, I will be very interested to see what direction the Warhawks go.  Could be scary for the rest of D3, $90k might not cut it though

I'd think HC experience, or an OC with a sterling record like a Heckendorf from SJU. Heckendorf is from Mosinee, WI, played at NDSU I believe.

Quit trying to poach our OC!!!

I think we're safe. While Kole Heckendorf is from Wisconsin, his wife is from Sauk Rapids (20 minutes from SJU). They currently live in Sauk Rapids.

If there's one thing I've learned from experience, moving your wife away from her family is not something to be taken lightly.

I think we also had an AD who had just had the interim tag removed who was afraid to make a splashy hire. So you're right. Safe bet, cross your fingers Lance rubbed off enough on Kevin to make it work.

North central Dc Shane Dierking is going to be a hot Hc candidate. Comes from a pound the rock system and has developed too 10 defenses while going to 2 straight Staggs and favored for a 3rd.

Bullis was an associate head coach during at least a portion of Liepold's tenure.  He was also Defensive Coordinator so the idea that he wasn't prepared to be a head coach is nonsense.  No one from Mount Union was a finalist for the HC job.  Finalists included Bullis, Rob Erickson, Dave Traynor, Erik Raeburn and Dean Paul.  I know for certain that Liepold offered Bullis the opportunity to go to Buffalo with him and Bullis declined.  His retirement has nothing to do with this season and/or any perceived decline in the WARHAWKS football program.  Some of us have been waiting for the announcement.

The football program has a pastor. They have for years.  He is present with the team home and away on game day.

Since meeting him and watching him turn Jeff Donovan into one of our best I've thought Jim Zembrowski was a really good coach.  I was disappointed when he left.  However after the experiences he's had since then I kind of doubt he'd come back to DIII.   I have a hunch who'll be the next coach but we'll wait and see.  I'm anxious to see who would apply.

His MIL was one of my teachers in HS, and his wife was a pretty good athlete, as well (VB, gymnastics, track).

A tradition unrivaled...

I wouldn't say no to a Zebrowski reunion. Extremely likable guy, knowledgeable and seems to be able to get a lot from QBs. Players seem to like to play for him, too. But it would take a lot to get him from Kansas I think. Though...if it's anything to get him to move down from D1, it's this.

I think he meant there were no candidates considered for the job who were currently at Mount Union at that time.

Yes, some had ties to Mount but were at other schools in 2015.

I know, I know. I really think that UWW should go after a Wisconsin guy like Zebrowski....who went to school at Mount Union.

UWW is going to have a ton of very, very good applicants.  Something tells me that the Warhawks will still be ranked in the top 5 in 10 years
