The second semifinal was much more physical. Barring a rash of NCC turnovers I think it's gonna feel like last years Stagg, with NCC in the other end of the result.

Although I think NCC is the better team, it's hard to imagine Mt losing by such a margin as NCC did last Stagg.

I don't think UMU's defense has what it takes to keep it close, regardless of their playmakers on offense (not that they have any more than UMHB does).

I agree with that.  NCC in a monkey stomp.

I wouldn't bet on a monkey stomp unless MU fails to bring their A game like UMHB did on Saturday. Plus, it will be on a neutral field, hopefully limiting the subjective calls. That said, NCC is damn good. Their QB can put some serious pressure on defenses. I don't remember seeing a D3 QB do what I saw in Saturday's game.

I'd put the spread at 8.5. It'll be interesting to see where Logan Hansen's model sets the spread.

Keep in mind, Mount's senior class will be playing to ensure they aren't the class since fall of 1992 to graduate without a ring. Not that you need any extra motivation in a Stagg bowl, but that's a unique layer of motivation. You don't want to be 'that class' at the Mount FB Alumni gatherings.

what exactly is "what it takes"?

I agree that NCC should be a heavy, heavy favorite btw

Logan's model has NCC as a 13 point favorite.   38.8 - 25.7 predicted score.

I will be very, very surprised if the National Championship game is a blowout. I am just starting to look closely but my first take is this game is much closer than many people think in my opinion.

It ain't often, but I am in complete agreement with USee on this one.  Mount has a lot of talent on the field outside of Plunk, Ruby, and Manley.  Tale of the tape will be the winner in the trenches.  Can NCC's DL put relentless pressure on AND contain Plunk?  Can Mount's DL stop the continuous onslaught of NCC's running attack over 60 minutes.  North Central still remembers the 12/14/13 game at Alliance... the Raiders will keep coming until the final whistle.  Two of the three contests between NCC and Mount have been decided by 7 pts or less.  Not sure how I see this going yet, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a dogfight to the end.

Agree,

A key factor of NCC putting pressure on QB Plunk is the pass coverage. Against Wartburg the pass releases were so
quick, Wartburg's DL was not able for most of the game to pressure Plunk. If that happens at the Stagg, then the game
will indeed be a dogfight.

Curious question, is it harder for a team to recruit when they're going through a coaching change?
