I am always very wary of comparing one team's performance against another vs a common opponent. There are so many variables when you consider travel, matchups, injuries, gameplan, etc. I don't think there's much value in comparing the manner in which two teams lost to UWW (JCU and St Johns).

When we have just one or two games of data, I think this kind of comparison is informative.  It will be less so as we go along, for sure.

Regardless of what kind of hockey assist action JCU gets in the poll out of all of this, I think we can all agree that UWW looks fantastic.

To be clear, I think common opponent results are valuable and important (given the low number of data points). In this instance UWW has 2 great wins and JCU and St Johns have losses to UWW, at home and on the road respectively.  Voters have a tough job and hopefully they evaluate many different criteria. The idea that JCU should be XX spots higher than St Johns in the poll just because of the final point spread in those results ignores the many other factors that are a part of those games and, by itself, is pretty meaningless in my opinion.

JCU is not higher than SJU on my ballot, FWIW.  I wasn't planning to do Top 25 Talk in this week's ATN column, but I might audible and write a little bit about what I did with the teams in this UWW/SJU/JCU/Trinity cluster because their movements were all kind of interesting.

Looking forward to that!  You always do a great job with that column!

Now that Trinity beat UMHB 35-15, a WW win in Texas looks quite likely. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 20 point win for the Hawks. I hope so, because I want see two unbeaten teams when WW visits RF.
I would say the chances of both teams being undefeated 3 weeks from now are less than 50%, especially considering La crosse and Oshkosh both lost...the path to the playoffs for both those teams now goes through Whitewater

Not following.  How in the world do losses by La Crosse and Oshkosh affect the chances of UW-W and UW-RF being undefeated when they meet?

Sorry Bleed just saw you responded....I guess I was just saying that desperate teams are more dangerous, and while desperate is an overstatement at this point, those are both excellent teams with playoff aspirations and I can't envision a scenario where a 3 loss team gets in from the WIAC, so they will ultra motivated was my point

I understand your logic. But I honestly don't think it's possible to be more motivated than La Crosse or Oshkosh are to play UW-W EVERY year. We are used to that. Our guys thrive on it.  We'll be fine.

I understand your logic for sure. But to be honest I'm not sure how much more motivated Oshkosh and La Crosse can be than every single time they play is. We are very used to other teams being all pumped up to play us (like tomorrow for example). In fact our guys thrive on it. We'll be fine.

Bigbologna

Yeah? Do they? Do they thrive on it? Lol.

Tell me a story about Lance Leipold. Actually had to look up this name last year. Guess he was your coach some years ago. I was in middle school.

Maybe every time his name is brought up, "Glory Days" by Bruce Springsteen should automatically play when you click on his name.

Do we need to go all Heisenberg on you and make you say his name?  You know it.

What kind of name is bigbologna?  If you gotta advertise, it ain't all the big. Maybe consider the handle breakfast link, might be more fitting. Unless it gets adopted by everyone.

With the weather delay in Belton, hope UWW can come out like lightning (pun intended).

I so wanted to get on the field and ask Jace what his message to his team was and what it means to go 3-0 after that non conference slate!

That plane trip back to Whitewater will b :-Xe one happy plane ride home. Congratulations Warhawks... 3-0 new coach and all.

Bleed--100% agreement on motivation to play UWW.  Every team every game! No other circumstances necessary.

Lest it look like running up the score, Kaleb Blaha did not play after the first quarter, which ended up 41-3. He ran for 3, passed for 2 in the first quarter and sat for the rest of the game. Aufenthie and Fitzgerald, 2nd and 3rd qb's, scored. Wesolowski, 4th string qb, did not score but played quite a bit and looked good.

I hope we do not have to schedule them again.

Congratulations Hawks on a great win. UMHB looked far more
Like the previous version of themselves than they looked like
The team that played the last two weeks. I would not be at all surprised if they make the playoffs and advance deep. They have the size and speed that's for sure.

Would have loved to see poll results of how many people honestly thought the Hawks would be sitting at 3-0 right now. Of Course we have things to Clean up and must keep getting better but no way anyone else has three victories the magnitude of UWW's three wins.

Rest up, get our three senior leaders back on the field, and go
To work!

Go Hawks!
