see--not really interested in Blaha vs Berghammer comparison until RF plays Oshkosh. I would say, however, that no WIAC running qb is as able to elude tacklers as well as Blaha.

I'm more interested in how the WW run D stacks up against the RF Oline.

Well, UWW has played Berghammer and tomorrow plays Blaha so seems pretty relevant. And Berghammer has better run stats than Blaha, elusive as he may be.

As far as the RF OLine, I'm not sure 3.5 yds a carry strikes fear into anyone. I'm much more intrigued by the RF Def Front against the Pound the Rock offense.

As Fred said, my opinion is Blaha is a more shifty runner and creative playmaker. They are both good but I'd take Blaha as first team. Blaha is a dangerous weapon.

As for UWP, they may not be tier 1 in the WIAC, but they are a skilled offensive passing team. I don't downgrade UWRF in the least bit for UWP hitting some big passing plays.

Emma, To be clear I am very impressed with RF defense. It's the best unit I have seen this year (I haven't seen everybody) but it would easily be the best dense in the CCIW this year. The front 7 are talented and aggressive. There is a reason they held MHB to -5 yds rushing! They also like to blitz a bit and when you do that, good QB's (e.g. Blazek) are gonna find people and beat you a few times. That the price of aggressiveness. But it serves RF well.

Blaha looks very dangerous and as he goes the RF offense goes. They have a couple great WR's and a solid offensive line. I was just observing that RF offense looks very similar to UWO and Berghammer's numbers are almost identical to Blaha.

My opinion, based on limited datapoints, is that the RF defense is the strength of the team and borders on being "elite yet most of the hype has been around Blaha, and deservedly so because he is good and makes a lot of plays for this team. Should be a great game to watch.

I see your point.
Their front 7 may be as good as you're thinking; I think they also have a couple stud corners.

UWW should own them.

The personal foul call on whitewater late in the 4th for receiver signaling 1st down seemed ridiculous.  Kinda smells like home cookin for RF. Can offense not do that?  If not, then defense shouldn't be able to hold up the fist to signal 4th down.

Congratulations Warhawks in defeating UW - River Falls 21-14.. Nice bounce back win.

LaCrosse beats Platteville 21-17. Tied 7-7 at half time back and forth second half with Platteville taking 14-7 and 17-14 leads. A tipped pass interception while Platteville was driving was costly for the Pioneers. Platteville travels to Eau Claire next week.

Fred,

Looks like they did a pretty OK job with the run D.

17 was taunting the DB & spun the ball at his feet. It was a textbook definition of unsportsmanlike conduct. Warhawks were doing stupid stuff all game & got caught every time. The official made the proper call. 77 was also a major negative factor when he wasn't laying on the ground injured.

Players spin the ball all the time. Never gets called. Why that time?

It was at the feet of the DB. The RF receiver who caught the Falcon's first TD pass also spun the ball but wasn't flagged - home field advantage I think.

I don't want to be a top 25 voter right now. What do with the 3 WIAC teams?  How do you slot them all?

Do you have to slot UWL at 4 now since they beat UWW?  Then UWW at 5, then UWRF at 6?  Then what about trinity that beat UMHB as well, but so did UWW and UWRF.

Today was no doubt a dogfight at UWRF, I could very easily see a 3 way tie for the WIAC crown. UWL controls its destiny, but certainly says slot for UWW to go 5-1 through the first 6 games vs all ranked opponents (and that one loss by 3).

Bobo...

So I t's not taunting when it's a TD?  But it is when it's a big play/first down.

We have got to stop with the stupid crap.  102 yards in penalties just doesn't cut it.  98% of it is due to a lack of control.  We're better than that aren't we?

Hats off to our defense.  When we needed stops down the stretch they got them.
