RF got beat worse than the score shows. WW made Blaha have the least effective game I've seen him play. 77 for WW is the biggest player I've seen this season, but was largely a negative for WW, or at least it looks that way without seeing film of the game.

Now, RF has to win out to finish in a tie for first, a difficult, but not impossible task.

He goes for over 300 yards of offense and it's his "least effective game."  I have to admit cursing when they said he was a junior.   ;D

Good luck Fred, beat LaCrosse!

BW--we don't have anybody to take the pressure off Blaha. We need WW's two running backs.

Blaha was 15/35 passes, well below his average, and was under pressure to throw on the run most of the time.

I don't doubt that it was Fred. I just think it's mind blowing that 300 total yards would be a bad day. He's really a special athlete.

With 3 games in and 4 to go the WIAC is starting to  separate itself.  LaCrosse at 3-0 and Oshkosh, River Falls and Whitewater at 2-1. Platteville and Stout out of contention but still a tough game and Eau Claire and Stevens Point bringing up the rear.
1. LaCrosse has to win out but it has Oshkosh and River Falls left.
2. Oshkosh has LaCrosse and River Falls left and they have a nonconference loss to Wheaton.
3. River Falls has LaCrosse and Oshkosh left.
4.  Whitewater has the easiest path but you can never take anything for granted in this conference.
Given the WIAC's strength will a 2 loss team make the playoffs?

My thoughts on 3 teams.
If UWL and UWW win out, it seems a lock the WIAC has two playoff teams. In that scenario, and assuming UWRF wins all remaining games except UWL, they are the 2- loss team in consideration. If UMHB wins out (defeating HSU), that puts UWRF in a strong position I would think.
If UWW and UWRF win out, and if UMHB wins out, I think UWL is in a tough spot if they finish with only 2 losses.

To make any of the above possible, all 3 teams have to get through the remainder of the WIAC schedule unscathed, which will be a real challenge.

I hate UW0 as much as the next guy...but do we think they have a shot at knocking off UWRF or UWL?

In a word....no

I don't question the strategy and Blaha is clearly the guy but when you only give the other backs the ball 4 times (combined) all game it's not likely you're going to get much support from them.  I know Walker knows his team and he knows a whole lot more about football than I do.  So I know he's doing what he thinks best.  I just don't think you can expect much support under that scenario.

sure...Platteville almost did

I'm guessing UWRF has now become UHMB's biggest fan, if Mary Hardin loses to Hardin Simmons, UWRF signature win just became a 6-4 team who would be out of the top 25, not sure a 2 loss UWRF makes it under those conditions.  Heck I'm not sure any 2 loss WIAC team makes it, I would think a loss for UWL or UWW would put some strain on their resumes as well.  With only 4 at large spots teams like Wheaton, John Carrol, loser of Mullenburg/Johns Hopkins, even Berry if they don't lose again are all going to be strong contenders for the 3 remaining spots if the WIAC gets one of the 4 with a one loss conference runner-up.

UWW needs to win out. With UWO and UWRF beating UWL.

This will unsure a conference title and a Pool A bid for the Hawks.

Very plausible.

I don't think Walker calls the plays. Certainly, he has input, but the offensive coordinator, Joe Mattheson,  calls most of them. Walker Is a delegator.

Even if UW-0 doesn't beat UWL, we will make the playoffs. They aren't going to pick a 6-2 La Crosse over a 9-1 UW-W with the schedule we've played. But I much prefer your scenario!
