If you missed the game last night, here's a flavor of what you missed.

Not only did I miss MNF, I blinked & missed that highlight snippet .

Great clip- thanks for posting. I didn't see that play.
I saw him in a recent press conference- he's one strong looking man.

Absolutely! Looks strong, plays strong. Always fun to see an NFL player go flying after being hit by Quinn!

He's currently the 3rd rated guard in the NFL by PFF with a grade of 80.8. His run blocking scores are off the charts, if he continues to fine tune his pass blocking he'll have a long and very lucrative career. He's already set himself up for a really nice raise once his rookie deal is done.

Glad he's not playing for UWW this year. I still have PTSD of some of his blocks against us the last time we met.  :-\ Without question the most physically dominating olineman I've seen play at the D3 level. His brutality was a thing to behold!

I think the victim of his first block on his Hudl highight video would agree.

Great articles in Warhawkfootball.com

Really looking forward to the game vs. Bethel tomorrow. Although UWW is favored to win, this first round opponent brings a whole different reality and risk to the Perk. In past years (I don't count last year's Aurora team), UWW's opening round opponents have been:
Greenville, Monmouth, Eureka, Lakeland, St Norbert, Macalaster, etc. Certainly every team must be taken seriously, but it would have taken serious cosmic events for UWW to lose one of those games. Such is not the case with Bethel. Over the years I've been a fan of their team (except for kicking, for some reason it sticks in my mind they had problems in big games) as I feel they are one of the more physical and fundamentally sound teams consistently. The last playoff game between these two teams was a true struggle- I think it was raining if I recall and UWW needed a late pick to seal the game?

UWW's season of playing high level competition continues tomorrow, I'm hoping the Hawks continue the excellent team play we've seen in recent weeks.

I saw the predictions from our friends at d3football, and I would have to agree with their scores.

Looks like Bethel has a hard time scoring against tougher opponents. Offense was shutout against Wartburg and just one TD against SJU (who UWW had their way with). I don't see things being much different at the Perk tomorrow....but I could be wrong. I'm not taking anything for granted, considering last year's round-one exit. Hopefully that's fresh in the upperclassmen's minds when going into the game. Something I'm sure they don't want to repeat.

I'm thinking something around 31-13 tomorrow. (that might be a conservative guess, we'll see)

Both teams have excellent defenses. It's so hard to compare them because the teams have played a  different level of competition in my opinion. But I think the Warhawks defense is bigger and just as fast. I think Bethel is fast, but takes some chances with movement in the box to make up for a bit of lack of size. What Bethel is great at is taking the ball. away. They have 31 takeaways to the Hawks' 21. They have a safety, #20 who is the real deal. Only a freshman, eligibility wise. Transfer from Mankato State and went to HS in Neenah. Really good.

The Hawks have the more dynamic offense. Bethel has good players, but they don't have as many playmakers UW-W has. I would think UW-W would have the big play edge. Their running back is good. Big and strong and can run.  Their QB will run, but he's more the big, strong kid than the fast elusive kid.

I think stylistically, this is a good match up for the Hawks.

Agree with both Emma and 02. Can't take this for granted. If we do, our season will be over.  But, I know first hand we didn't and won't. The week of practice has been good. Good focus, appropriate intensity. They remember last year and are locked in.  I think if Bethel wins they will have to play at a very high level. Because I sure think we will.

Well 02, you were close in your prediction, at least for Bethel.  The Warhawks gave the Royals great field position for the first Bethel touchdown.  Hopefully, the special teams issues will get cleaned up for round 2.

Offensively, the Warhawks were solid with multiple big plays leading to touchdowns.  Looking forward to the next round.

Great win for UWW. Came out in second half and took care of line of scrimmage.

Wheaton it is.

Great win for the Hawks today, and on to Wheaton!  Should be a home game, but we won't find out until either tonight or tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, the Warhawks will be on the road, but I'm not talking about the football team.  The Marching Band will be playing at Lambeau Field for tomorrow's Packer game, and I know I and several other alumni are heading up to support our band!  If any of you will be there tomorrow, I hope to see you there.  I thought about wearing purple, but if I still have my Jake Kumerow jersey, I will be wearing that.

On to the second round, and GO WARHAWKS!

Bleed's pregame analysis was spot on. Two very good defenses, but one team had the play makers on offense to overcome it and the other lacked them. That seemed to be the difference today. Bethel did a pretty job against our run, they are really good upfront. But then, out of no where, we would bust these huge runs. Nothing really much in between. Like an all or nothing deal, all game long.

I thought Alec had a fantastic first half. That first TD throw was one of his best of the year. An absolute strike, in stride to set the tone of the game.

Special teams...what can I say. Felt they were due for a dud like that. Just happy it occurred in a game where missed short FGs and a botched punt didn't matter.

Love the offense play calling....been saying it all season. No offense to Bullis, but this regime seems to have a much better grasp on it.
