Not gonna lie, Aurora vs UW-La Crosse could be a good game. AU was without their starting QB yesterday but survived turning the ball over 4 times by forcing six Coe turnovers. If the Spartans starting QB is ready to go Saturday, this could be the best game on the docket.

it's being reported that the AU starting QB suffered nerve damage in the regular season finale and is out for the year. Pat brought this up on the podcast

Thanks for listening to the podcast!

I watched a good amount of this game yesterday and the backup looks pretty good. Obviously not nearly as many reps but he's solid. Eventually will probably even be great.

UW Platteville is mourning the death of Athletic Director Dr. Kristina Navarro-Krupka. Dr. Navarro was an enthusiastic supporter of Pioneer Athletics and and innovative leader for the University and D3 Athletics. Dr. Navarro's carreer included a stop at UW Whitewater. My condolences to her family she will be missed.

Got a phone call about this yesterday.  So heartbreaking. Praying for her family and all who love her. Had an opportunity to have a few conversations with her over the years. She was a bright light and a very smart lady. Passion for leadership.  What a tragic loss.

Have any of you WIAC folk had the chance to see Wheaton play?
I had them on one of three screens Saturday- so I caught what I could.
I was especially interested to see Thorson given the incredible 0 int to 30+ TD's.
He definitely throws a nice ball and makes plays, big challenge.
I did see four, (I assume this may trigger a debate), dropped interceptions, plus he threw an interception. Certainly all QB's need the luck of butter-fingered defenders, but I feel UWW won't be so generous.

Weeks is good all around, w excellent open field moves.

I have seen quite a bit of them. Generally speaking I'd say:

QB: Good
Offensive Line: Excellent
Wide Receivers: Very good
RB (Weeks): Excellent

I think their offensive success is very dependent on getting Weeks going. If the Hawks shut down Weeks, we will be be fine. But it's defeinitely a challenge to do that.

Defensively, I really don't want to get into any specifics. But if I'm being honest, they aren't very good

I've seen Wheaton play twice. Once in their opener against Oshkosh and once in their finale against North Park. They are good, and they would compete in the WIAC. Generally speaking, they are better on the offensive side of the ball. The offensive line is good enough to play in the WIAC and the QB is really accurate. They have a running back that is special in the run and pass game. I haven't seen Whitewater play, but Wheaton has moved the ball well on everybody except North Central. I was surprised to see Wheaton win the LOS against Oshkosh as much as they did on both sides of the ball, especially because it was Wheaton's first game and Oshkosh had played already. That being said, I don't think the Wheaton defense is special. First off, North Central ran all over them. As did Augie. North Park was able to consistently move the ball as well. The North Park team is much improved, but I didn't think NPU would have as much success as they did, especially because Wheaton had to impress the committee on the last weekend of the season. North Park put up 26 points (it should've been 31), passed for 271 yards, and ran the ball effectively. I'd probably pick North Central over any WIAC team, but Wheaton just isn't in North Central's class. Wheaton might score some points, but I just don't see them stopping the UWW run game. As long as UWW doesn't turn the ball over, I think they win by two scores.

Wheaton scored 35 on North Central. That wasn't the problem.

My first instinct was to check the stats of the NCC v Wheaton game, but then it really doesn't matter. NCC is so far ahead of everyone they played this year, relying on stats to tell me anything meaningful is probably useless.

Like Bleed said, I imagine this comes down to UWW's ability to contain and limit Weeks' impact. If UWW is successful, Thorson and the passing game will have the chance to show their stuff.

Pat,
Iam sorry that you have had to deal with this temporary malfunction/shutdown of the boards. As frustrating as that has been to the posters, I'm sure it has been even worse fir you and your staff. We all appreciate your service and I'm sure all of us will be patient as you work to restore this privilege.  (P.S. I posted this here rather than on the Great Lakes board since you posted your message on this board. Also, it looks like all the the posts on all the boards from this past Saturday are gone, but you know that, of course.

What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Hope the boys can get a win in Iowa because the only thing worse than driving to the middle of nowhere in Iowa is losing and having to make that drive back.

I didn't know what to do Saturday late afternoon and evening without the boards- amazing how much I miss them especially on game day and following.

Thanks Pat for hanging in there, one thing I was sure of is you and crew were doing all you could.

Much to talk about w the game but I have a question first. I'm assuming I missed something- On the unsportsmanlike/targeting call on UWW's last possession, why didn't it result in an automatic first down?
