Yes. UWO at UWW is the game of the week in the conference, followed closely by UWP at UWL. I expect both home teams to survive a serious challenge.

Bofadeeznuts

No. I disagree with "a much clearer picture" with UWW against UWO. UWO's defense was exposed against Tech. While the middle of their defense is solid, UWW should be able to run all day on UWO. And pass over the top of the corners and safeties.
The Wheaton and Linfield games could have gone either way. And to be honest with you, both of those teams handed the wins to UWO.
Combine all that and up against a freshman QB, and UWW shouldn't have a problem with UWO. If not....well then.
UWW will handle UWO nicely and ALL WILL BE RIGHT IN THE WHITEWATER WORLD. (Fart noise)
You wanna see where UWW stands in the WIAC? Then without a doubt it's the UWL game. They're legit.

I'll be interested to see the UWO v UWW game this weekend. Can UWW "run all day on UWO"? I don't know. What I do know is that last year Wheaton, with Giovanni Weeks ran for 195 yds against UWO and then in the playoffs ran for 130 yds against UWW. This year Wheaton (with Gio) ran for 84 yds against UWO. Wheaton scored  31 on UWO a year ago and 42 against UWW in the playoffs. This year they scored 14 on UWO. Wheaton brought back 6 starters including all the same WR's, TE's and RB from last year. Wheaton's OL was a strength last year and is probably their biggest weakness this year. That said, my observation this year is that UWO was much, much stronger on defense this year than they were a year ago. I thought the UWO offense was a lot more balanced this year without reliance on 1 star QB.

I am looking forward to this game.

Platteville wins at LaX in OT 30-27. The Pioneers were down by 8 with less than 3 minutes they converted 2 4th downs one with a pass the other by penalty. Priami hits Carter Olson for the TD and Platteville converts the 2 pt to tie the game. LaX tried a 58 yard FG that was short as time expired. LaX got the ball first and Platteville held them to a FG. On Platteville's first play they they threw a backwards pass to Stare who threw to a wide open Doherty in the endzone for the win. Platteville hosts RF next weekend.

EC looked as ineffective as the last 2 non conference opponents.pville will be the best we have seen so far.

Nice! I should have watched that UWL/UWP game or UWRF onslaught. Anything would have been better than that garbage in Whitewater.
Nice to see the beautiful parity in the WIAC.
Can't wait to see UWL in person next week. And UWP the following.

Great win for the Hawks yesterday. The depth of the defensive line showed up huge with three senior "starters" (yes, I'm including Reed Farrington as a starter because he is flat out dominant) out with injuries, the other guys showed up big allowing UW-O 9 yards rushing. And how about Paul Kim! Replacing our starting corner, who is injured, he led the team in tackles including two tackles for losses and a crucial second half strip sack. Not bad for a freshman making his first start!

Offensively, we rushed for over 200 yards even though we couldn't quite pop a big one. Passing game still needs to come together. Hopefully that will happen over the next couple of weeks.

The bottom line is we went 1-0 this week. That's all that matters.

Wow. I had to tune out just when LaX punted to UWP up 8. I missed some great action.
Congratulations to UWP. I was impressed w the Pioneer defense in limiting big plays.
Will LaX continue w two QB's?

Some big short yardage plays by UWW- what a gutsy call by Coach Rindahl on fourth down in their own territory.

Disappointed in the last offensive drive before half- seemed they couldn't decide if they were going for points or not. A curl/hitch route resulting in a diving catch is the last play you want to run when trying to save time. Ceniti seems to flow from soft arm to strong arm. 8 of 18 for 119 yards is concerning to say the least for a team with playoff hopes. The Hawks will need both the run and pass working to have any real success this season.

Agreed. I'm hoping these next couple of weeks can be used to get the passing game untracked. One dimensional is never the plan.

WIAC fans should take a picture of that poll because it isn't long lasting. Those 5 teams will have to absorb at least 8 more losses this year. And that's if all of them sweep Eau Claire, Stevens Point, and Stout. Definitely no guarantee of that. Will each of them still be among the best 20 teams in the nation? IMO, absolutely. But polls understandably have to be data driven. But this week's poll is a very accurate snapshot of WIAC strength IMO.

Games remaining against "The Gauntlet" teams:
UW-W- 3
UW-O- 3
UW-LC- 3
UW-RF- 4

We definitely have to get better play at quarterback.

I'm also concerned about the pass defense.

I think it's safe to say the La Crosse vs UWO game is a de facto Pool C elimination game this weekend.  The loser will be at three losses at the end of the day which likely ends any Pool C chances regardless if one of the losses was against a D2 team.

Others who know more please correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding of the new criteria is that there is no longer any real subjectivity in the selections and out of Division contests don't count. So the optics of a three loss season won't be a factor like it may have in the past.

However, in listening to the two major D-III podcasts, it seems like the new criteria gives a heavy lean to one loss teams over stronger two loss teams. So in that respect, the game may very well turn out to be a "Pool C" elimination game. But...maybe not. It seems like a two loss WIAC team may have a slightly better chance than others based on their success in non-conference games.
