Platteville's season comes to an end with a 19-14 loss to Wartburg.  Wartburg was able to run the on Platteville. While Platteville was held to 49 yards rushing.  Priami threw for over 200 yards but an fumble and 2 interceptions hurt. After 45 minutes of screwing around I was able to get the ESPN app. Makes me appreciate the WIAC Network even more.

Watched ESPN+.  Worst Homer announcers I have ever heard.  Hard to listen to.  Really bad PI call on pioneers early in game.  Pioneers couldn't run but pass was working.  Good game overall.  Why do the top 2 teams in best conference in D3 both have to play in someone else's house?

OK. I think we can cool it on the WIAC being the best conference.
If I remember right, 2 yrs ago the top 2 teams in the "best conference" lost in the 1st round. I believe last year neither team made it past the quarters. And this year the 2 top teams in the "best conference" lost in what essentially is their 1st round.
Don't give me home field advantage BS. There is none in D3. Same size field and crowds not big enough to make a difference. Travel doesn't take any thing out of you. It's all make believe narratives. It's used as a crutch when you lose.
I've been watching the WIAC for 20 yrs now. And without a doubt this has been the best year for this conference (as far as parity). Top to bottom. Only 1 really bad team.  Today wasn't a good look for what I thought was the best year for this conference.
So based on today and the previous 2yrs, how can anyone justify this being the best conference?
Maybe it's just full of average teams?
So where did this narrative come from? Or start?

Does UWL have a reputation as a dirty team? Lots of post play activity. SJU coach said the UWL players were chirping before the game started. Johnnie players said they were the dirtiest team they've played, including spitting at them. Fortunately Johnnies did not take the bait.

UWP was beaten today by a very good Warburg team.  My main point is if you pay ESPN+ to watch a game you should note be subjected to the "Homer" announcers we had to listen to.  According to these two most of the Wartburg players should be in the NFL. Pure bush league.

UWP doesn't have a local radio broadcast?  When the Johnnies are on the road, I generally listen to the local radio station broadcast.

No. My post wasn't meant for you Papa. Didn't see your post when i was doing mine. It was meant as a whole. Past posts. Past beliefs. Past articles. From years and years of narratives that I'm suppose to believe.

Well I can't speak on the current UWL teams but in the late 80's early 90's they were arrogant and liked to play after the whistle.  That was my experience at least.

Did you listen to any other broadcast last week or this week? You need to get out more....

I should add the St John's color guy is a well known and long time homer.

The SJU announcer is a noted homer, but he wasn't calling the ESPN broadcast (he did radio only). The ESPN stream was called by Tom Wheeler who usually does the Gustavus football games if I'm not mistaken.

Play by play guy is the homer.  But, he's our homer.  The color guy and the sideline guy (long time college ref) reel him in when necessary.

They are indeed the team's home announcers. It's not like ESPN+ hired 16 crews for today.

I understand your frustration with the early exits of both WIAC teams, but I don't believe the conference rating is based on a team getting deep into the playoffs. The conference is really good 1-5 and as we saw today, they can compete w the top teams of other conferences- w exception of NCC. UWL played the # 1 team in the country and UWP ran into a buzz saw w Wartburg. Wartburg played as hard as any team I've seen this season. St. John has a great QB and talent around him.
Tough draws in this first round but like some of us said earlier in the season, the WIAC didn't have a national championship caliber team this season.

Let me answer the part of your question dealing with today first; the play between the whistles seemed to be actually clean with the exception of the late hit way out of bounds that wasn't called on the LX sideline and then the near fight where a DL took a couple cheap shots at an SJU olineman...with no call.

The officials did a horrible job establishing a sense of order from pregame, where LX players and coaches were chirping and $hit talking all SJU players and coaches..halftime, where they did the same thing. And after the game wanted to continue......the lack of any team leadership from LX staff or players was frankly embarrassing coming from a program that believes themselves to be in the national elite.  I believe LX currently suffers from a touch of inferiority complex in relation to their conference big brother WW.  They want to be relevant so badly, which they haven't been for close to 30 years.

The heat between SJU and LX dates to 1991 and none of the matchups since would resemble church group basketball......
