It's interesting hearing that Platteville fans thought the announcers on ESPN for the Wartburg game were homers, because as a Wartburg homer, I have no idea who those announcers were. Wasn't the normal student crew on their live streams, and it wasn't the local radio crew, either. Lots of names being mispronounced for both teams.

Darin Svenson was on PBP. ESPN, to my understanding, required separate crews from radio. I know St. John's had a entire separate PBP/color team from its radio as well.

Seriously, though, I thought I read somewhere that the dials were set closer to the needs of the non-power leagues. I have no idea if that is true, but if next year's field is similar, there needs to be some adjustment.

North Central hasn't had any favors for the past 3 tournaments from either system, despite making it to 4 straight title games. The consensus #1 ranked team is likely on the road again after this week. They don't seem to care.....

For whatever reason this subject brings to mind Alec Baldwin "yeah, I used to be a salesman, tough racket".

My version: Yeah, I used to care about rankings and home field, good ol days.

Kubiac is right about playing LAX, (we were teamates), as an OL I'd come out of the game with bloody noses and bruised parts that generally don't see contact. The cheap stuff do anything but piss us off.
I still sit in wonder watching the brackets get set up and I know they have all these rules and contingencies, blah, blah, blah. All year long, the same 3 teams sat on the top, NCC, MU, and Cortland, the defending champs. Each went through the season with ease, not once were any challenged. I guess the same with HSU. It simply makes no sense to me that the defending champs from New York are in the same bracket as NCC from Illinois. Everyone in the country knows they are the toughest teams, and none of them should have to travel until the Finals. Put the 4 big boys in the 4 corners and fill in the rest of the teams after that. Nothing against SJU, as they have a long history of success, but they were NOT a Finals team in recent history and should be in NCC bracket, opposite end at least. They wouldn't see NCC for a month.

The comments on the WIAC are pretty accurate in my mind. They had no standout teams in conf this year, all just tough except UWEC. Isn't it true that LAX and UWP also lost key players to injury and were not the same by playoffs time? Depth is great, but losing stars hurts any team's potential.

So ... I'm getting the sense you didn't actual pay attention to D3 football this year a whole lot outside of the WIAC. SJU has been ranked #3 since week 4 in the Top 25, if we're talking about "everyone in the country knows" who the Top 3/4 teams are. In Week 4, the order was NCC, Cortland, UWL, UMU, and SJU at 5. The final poll had SJU 3, HSU 4, and Mount 5. There's zero injustice with SJU having a 1 seed. The quibble should be about HSU/Mount as #1 seeds and not NCC.

Emma, I haven't heard you mention if any of your family agrees with you. What about your Uncle's cousin's brother? How's he been?

Funny you should ask. My grandmother's sister, Helen from northern Minnesota, had a keen perspective on home field advantage. She'd say "gosh darn it emma 17, quit yer whining, pull yer boots up and go play for cripe's sake".

Can't help but notice on social media that UWW is still rolling out their national championship trophies as a photo opp with potential recruits.

Wonder if there's an unwritten rule (statute of limitations) with that sort of recruiting tactic? Flexing championships that are 10+ years old from two regimes ago. Like does SJU or Augustana break out their old trophies for recruits to take pics of?

If it's working....then sure keep doing it.

Rowan doesn't have any national championship trophies.

Yes!! I got them and Augustana confused. Lol

New Jersey and Rock Island, Illinois....makes sense. very confusing  ;D

Both were powers that consistently made Stagg Bowl trips back in the day, but not so much anymore.

Retired Old Rat

Rowan could display their five runners up trophies.  Zero for five in Stagg Bowls over a seven-year period.  Makes SJU's many heartbreaking losses pale in comparison.
