First, I do think Augustana's run offense is pretty good (not to say UWP should have given up 400 yards rushing); however, if the offense was productive that stat becomes less important because UWP has thrown for 400 yards and still lost.

With roughly 1100 yards in three games I'd say they were pretty decent too.

When one team runs 89 plays and the other only 49 it's going to be a long, long afternoon.  That led to a time of possession difference of about 17 minutes.  Meaning their offense played an entire extra quarter relative to yours.  You'll have to be darn productive or score defensively to overcome that.

WHITEWATER and LaCrosse are still pretty big rivals on the gridiron but Point is creeping in there too.   WHITEWATER is 15-1-1 in their last seventeen meetings with Oshkosh, 66-25-5 all time.  I don't think many down here see it as a rivalry in football.  Though men's basketball and baseball are probably different stories.

The Realist

Hello everyone,

I'm a new guy to this and am just seeing how it goes.  This is my first post or reply or whatever.

Stoutguy:

Thanks. I knew you had someone on with you while we were disconnected but I was kicking myself when I listened after I got off the air (I do that when I can) and found out who it was. Would have said hi.

BTW, I warned you guys about the EC/St. Francis game, but at the end of the show two of you picked UWEC anyway. Sheesh! :)

Pat,
You are right and you did warn us about St. Francis.  But my picking EC was just my being "Mr. WIAC" for the show.  If you noticed, I picked St. Francis (and lead our Pick'm contest) here on d3 football.com.  Coach Thomas did tell me to say "Hi" for him.

Actually, all the Coleman's from the site will be in Wisconsin. I'll be at the La Crosse/Stevens Point game.

I really should look into the IIAC schedule for something near home. They might start complaining that we are shooting too many MIAC and WIAC games  ;) This is my last scheduled stop in Wisconsin before the postseason.

Pat, listen for me to holler from the highest bluff. I'll report the score in that way. :)

And another Coleman will be in Wisconsin this upcoming week as Keith McMillan and I travel to Whitewater to take in the Eau Claire/Whitewater game as part of a Central Time doubleheader (we're also seeing Wheaton/North Central that night). Looking forward to it.

Getting back to the rivalry question... The Stout/E.C. game I think is huge with the fans. But for the teams, I would have to say E.C. and La X.  I am not sure if it is still up, but there apparently used to be a sign in the UWEC locker room that said, "What have you done to beat UW-L today?" In talking with a recent former UW-L player, he said E.C. was the game they got the most jacked up for, and also, some of the E.C. players that I know have said the same thing. I think for these two teams, they are always both towards the top of the conf. year in and year out, and therefore, developed into a rivalry.

As a former WIAC player I can tell you that every conference game feels like a rivalry, some more than others.  The UWW vs. UWP game is a rivalry through creation of the George Chryst Memorial Bowl Game, the game is for a great cause and every player for WW or P wants there schools name to end up on that placque every year.  But hands down for the Hawks the # 1 rivalry game has to be Hawks vs. Eagles.  Before this year the conference had the schedule right, save the best game of the year for the last game of the year.  The past two years the last game of the year was a true conference championship game.  Every year both teams want to beat the other, I know for WW players that we hate LAX more than any other team in the WIAC, cause of rumors that will go left unsaid and because they have had our number as of late.

I would second the idea that most players don;t like LAX.

My Picks:

Point- Conference play will turn them around
Falls- Upset of the week
Stout- Easy win for the devils
EC- Dare I say WW is overhyped after playing a weak SNC and two pushovers, I do say.

padmofu

My picks...
EC over WW... the 'golds have been tested more this season... I think they catch the hawks sleeping at home.
LaX over Point... eags should be ready to play by now.
Stout over Waldorf... not even a contest.
Oshkosh over Falls... probably a close one.

Just like everyone hated Platteville Men's Basketball, or Oshkosh Baseball over the years??  What is the common thread among all three of these teams??  They all dominated there respective sport for about a 15 (or more) year period.  It is very common for opponents who can't beat a team to then hate them.

Just look at professional sports-Yankees, Lakers, Cowboys
They all were successful and fans beagn to hate them.
2008-09 and 2012-13 WIAC Fantasy League Champion

2008-09 WIAC Pick'Em Tri-Champion

UDub Fever

Point over LAX......Lacrosse has been in the middle of the pack in recent years until the end when they surge to another title.
Stout over Waldorf.........pure domination
Falls beats Osh-vegas.......The battle for last place
WW over EC.......This will be a great game to watch if your a Hawk fan.  WW continues to roll

blugold45

Cubs,

I wasn't around for LAX's great runs back in the day, over the last five years EC is 3-2 against them and yet I still hate them.  Has nothing to do with history.

ScoutTeamHero

I'm might be going out on a limb but Oshkosh and River Falls will not be a battle for last place
