Whitewater's offense looked a little flat at times today, but got solid play from the defense. Thought Eau Claire had a little more game than that ::)....... guess the Warhawks are that good. ;D

Can't wait for the Hawks visits to Stevens Point next week.  Hey, anyone see the LAX / Point game? How did that game look? ???

The WARHAWKS were dominant despite not playing as well as they have offensively. I don't think the week off helped.  We contolled both lines of scrimmage for nearly the entire game with the exception of about 5 minutes of the third quarter when EC put a couple of decent drives together, held field position and got a score.   But, once the WARHAWKS took the lead this game was never in doubt.

23 combined penalties were called for 261 yards, some unsportsmanlike....ugly  We need to improve our share of that.

It was a real pleasure to meet both Pat and Kieth.   Thanks for checking us out.

I saw La Crosse and Point today, and the score tells an accurate tale of the game: Eagles 24-0. This did not look like one of the Pointer's best teams to me, though I know they are fairly young. QB Borchart was not on top of his game. A  Pointer fan indicated that he has been injured, and hadn't been able to practice as much as one would like. La Crosse got the running game going and gained over 400 yds. with a balanced offense. Too many penalties-21 in the game. Great crowd.

Mr. Downtown

I broadcasted the Oshkosh/River Falls game today on television. I must say, those who watched it, im sorry, it was possibly the worse game I ever broadcasted. And for those that have to broadcast a game against River Falls, again in advance good luck, its tough to broadcast a game when a team runs the same play 8 TIMES IN A ROW!!!

Anyways, both offense's struggled. For River Falls O, Wolff is a great talent, and Anderson is a tough guy to take down. But Oshkosh's defense is for real folks. Like normal, there defense is usually good. But the offense really was a let down. Patek had close to 15 carries!!! I think someone forgot that Patek is not Wara. But, sometimes Patek was able to break free for some big gains. But at the end, Patek got hurt, was hobbling pretty good. Stern couldn't do anything on the ground. They missed Mo a lot in this game. Add in drop passes, and the big killer, Raschke was 1/4 for field goals. and one of those misses was a 19 yarder! Yikes..i know.

But really, the game ball goes to River Falls defense. I was impressed how well they played, especially against the run.

Nice shots by the photographers at the two WIAC games. Very good pics. The Oshkosh game last night was rather painful to watch. The Titans struggled with a mighty opponent... themselves. Dropped passes and missed field goals really hurt in this one. The defense came through very well under a lot of pressure but offense just wasn't clicking. They were only able to move backwards and out of field goal range in overtime. Falls won it with a chip shot in OT. From here on out I'll just post WIAC pick'em scores and then show the overall scores when the season is over. I'm missing picks from MadDog368 this week. Only four conference games so far and we've only got seven who have picked all four correctly.

3-0: runningdevils (4-0), BadgerWarhawk (4-0), oldpa (4-0), 2cents (4-0), FredFalcon (4-0), voice (4-0), BrianCarroll (4-0), falconforlife (3-1)
2-1: 1_for_27 (2-2), BlueDevilBob (3-1), UDubFever (3-1), blugold26 (3-1), stoutguy (3-1), notfredfalcon (3-1), bulk19 (3-1), MrDowntown (3-1)
1-2: padmofu (2-2), blugold45 (1-3), PointSpecial (2-2), LC65 (1-2)

and finally in Week 6, we'll have four games with nothing but WIAC teams playing each other.

falconforlife and everyone else. The number in parentheses is your overall WIAC picks, including the Stout-Platteville game from week 2. I have the overall scores including the Stout-Waldorf game from yesterday, but didn't include nonconference games in today's posting. falconforlife, I have you as 4-0 from yesterday's games. I probably should have clarified that in my post. Thanks

falconforlife

padmofu,

thanks for clarifying.  sorry about the confusion and thanks for keeping track.

Hey, anyone see the LAX / Point game? How did that game look? ???

I saw most of the game. La Crosse controlled the game, having the ball nearly 36 minutes. Defensively, I don't recall the Pointers ever getting inside the Red-Zone.

Mr. Downtown--wouldn't it be EASIER to broadcast if a team ran same play "8 times in a row"? Or did you mean to say "boring"? My guess is that you may have missed the nuances of the offense. I know I often do.  The defense thinks it's the same play too--that's the way the "bone" works. But, of course, if a play is working, it will be called often until the defense adjusts.

But the Oshkosh defense had to have been good. According to John O.,"the Titans had the advantage over the very good d2 teams we played recently in that the Oshkosh d coordinator is much more familiar with what we do" than Concordia or Bemidji coaches. J.O. gave a lot of credit to the Osh. d, saying they really were ready and played hard. I asked him why Oshkosh had done a better job of stopping us than the 2 d2 teams.

I've given up w/advice about not picking against the Falcons, especially in the case of Stoutguy, always a slow learner. Warhawkguy, on the other hand, knows what expert advice is all about.

Just wanted to give Eau Claire coaches, players and fans some credit for joining the standing ovation and cheering our five time National Champion Wheelchair basketball team.  That was classey.

Now that I'm in broadcasting, Fred, you'd be amazed by the increase in my level of expertness.   It's staggered even me.   ;D

Are you coming down for the Falcon game Nov. 12th?  If so, bring beer.  ;)
